I changed my desktop yesterday, because the cat looks INCREDIBLY FUNNY. I have too many icons. I haven't used some of them for months. I really hate the EA and Steam icons, but they're there because I'm afraid of what they might do if I don't watch them constantly. (Meanwhile, half my important icons aren't on there for space reasons. 9_9)

It's rather big but it has to be because of all the small details in the KS pixel art. By the way, if I've used images from your level and you object, please tell me so, I'm sure we can work something out! I've also credited all the levels used in this wallpaper (I don't think I've forgotten one, but if I have, I can easily add one more credit) so you don't have to worry about that :)

@Aptequar: Where did you get your wallpaper from? It looks amazing! :)

:D Okay - because of course I didn't mean to offend anyone with this! At first I took your reaction as a kind of disgust like, "what a blasphemy to stain a level like It Waits with common Patapons" or something like that; I was already preparing to legitimise this with the fact that I didn't want to stain it but rather that this is my way of honouring it as a level I really enjoy and the outlet of the little creativity I get a grip on C)p But I'm glad that I just understood you wrong there X-P

After getting fed up with Windows taking more than 15 minutes to load up fully on this computer (yes, it was quite bloated), I decided that it might be the right time to try out Linux. Since I was basically a Linux newbie at the time, I decided to install Ubuntu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubuntu) and see how much better it could run than Windows ever did on this computer. I was quite surprised how well it ran, even with all of the desktop effects I decided to enable (X)). So yeah, here's my current desktop:

I'm using the free version of Bumptop. It's pretty cool, though it does seem to have wiped my iTunes library for some reason...  O_o
I just got it so the desktop isn't actually that pretty yet, but it is fun. C)
As far as I see there's no good reason to pay for the full version, it doesn't add much.

EDIT: changed background and other things to make it prettier looking. Doesn't really deserve another post.

i recently visited a foreign medicine expert, and supposedly the color orange supports the creativity chakra. interesting, i started wearing an orange bracelet and changed my wallpaper to orange, and wrote 3 songs in 2 days :D change from a ridiculous amount of writer's block the last few months.

that's why i put the link referring to the original, and named it by the original. i also said blatantly in that post that i would not claim any of these wallpapers as mine, as many were edited from others. so i never claimed it as mine.

The Howl's Moving Castle ones I got from a friend, but I think they were the default wallpapers so shouldn't be too hard to find. As for the massive brilliant ones, Click Here (http://features.cgsociety.org/story_custom.php?story_id=4936&page=2). You should also check out the videos up there, they're fantastic. EMET in particular - of course, if you don't like disappointments don't watch it as it's in the style of a movie trailer and the movie doesn't exist (it really pissed me off for a couple of days... :moody:). The rest are mine, and as such aren't anywhere online and I can't be bothered to upload them unless people definitely want them.

Here's mine. It uses the default Windows 7 theme and all, but I am fine with that, because I think it looks nice and it helps me get stuff done. I am really in love with the wallpaper also; you can get it here (http://interfacelift.com/wallpaper_beta/details/2141/aurora_borealis.html).

^ I think he refers to the absence of icons and other gadgets on the desktop, rather than to the background image. If Vista had something like KRunner or Do, I'd do away with icons on it too. Luckily Vista allows you to Alt-Tab onto the desktop, so it's not that bad for keyboard-users like me.

See how my Vista desktop looks like instead.

I've been trying to find an image on the internets, and I've had no luck yet. I vaguely remember seeing an unmasked soldier in Nova Prospekt, but I just don't feel like replaying that chapter. Prospekt and Ravenholm aren't really...chapters...for me. Yeah.

I do know they've had their throats replaced with speakers or something like that. They're walking PA systems!

here's a couple of good places to look (dA profiles)
Dreamwa1ker (http://dreamwa1ker.deviantart.com) - the guy who made my Win7 Wallpaper
Max4ever (http://max4ever.deviantart.com) - the guy whomade my Ubuntu Wallpaper

Go to one of those and look through their galleries, check out their favourites (favourites is always a good idea, there is often something epic in there which can lead you to another whole profile of awsmoe :D)

It's called Jolicloud. I'm not using it anymore though, as the HTML5 Desktop is kind of buggy.

Are you using special Windows 7 themes with the UXTheme patch then? Note, you often need to replace some files, like explorer.exe and some dll files.

I've managed to get different themes working, but the gain just isn't worth the trouble. If you want to look into something really interesting, look up Dream Scene for Windows 7. It'll allow you to play a movie as background picture! :D

This is not a screen shot, but it's essentially what my desktops have always looked like. The image is the property of the company with the logo on it. The minimalist icons were made by me in ages past. I'm showing the tiny versions next to the normal sized ones. Sometimes I change the image, but I always come back to this Samurai Jack background.
