Title: Two truths and a lie
Post by: Marximillian on March 04, 2013, 18:57:30
So I had an idea for a game and was disappointed it didn't already exist (as far as I could find), then I thought oh I can start topics!
The idea is to comment with three statements, two of which are truths and one of which is a lie (preferably about yourself), and the next person (or persons, though only the first one who guesses correctly should count) attempts to infer which one the lie is. The one who determines the lie correctly starts the next round, and so on. It's all in good fun, I just thought it'd be a good example of a simple game that also lets forum members learn trivia about each other.

1: I have ridden a bicycle up a steep hill I would never have attempted to walk or run up.
2: I have experienced a scorching desert and a rainy city within the same day.
3: I like Piers Anthony's Xanth series, but ultimately I recognize Anthony is a writer of formulaic fiction and believe he will never be as good a writer as Neil Gaiman.

I think 2 is false, seeing as those are 2 extremes.
1 is something that I'd do, and 3 is opinion so...

Note, I'm guessing that we wait for you to reply and see who's correct before continuing the next set of 3?
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: bulbapuck on March 04, 2013, 19:55:39
I believe 3 is false as it is written in a different way from the other two. Still, just a guess.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: Yoeri on March 04, 2013, 21:38:23
I think 1 is false because it sounds rather weird.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie

Yeah that was the idea I had, more or less, except now I'm wondering if there'd be a better way of doing this? If anyone has ideas for how to improve on the structure I've suggested thus far, don't expect me to shoot it down!

I think 1 is false because it sounds rather weird.
The opinion in 3 is indeed mine, and 2 is true by virtue of the most boring adventure of my life, in which I took what I think was a 12-hour train ride from one extreme to another. So 1 is false, either by the process of elimination or due to the exploitative fact that I never learned how to ride a bicycle!
So bumperpower64 has the next round.

Here are nicknames I may have used on IRC. Only one of them I haven't.

1. Bubbles, Tewi.
2. wheelforce32, Hugglebunny.
3. beepeedubya, NotForSale.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: LPChip on March 04, 2013, 22:09:45
✘ 1. I think this one you haven't had
✔ 2. Sounds ike something you could've set in a drunkenmood or something...
✔ 3. I think I might even have seen you use Not for Sale one, but its typical for you to use that nick I think.

So I'm going with 1 is false

for those of you who are interested in using those nice checkmark thingies, the bbcode for the x = [x]your text here[/x], and the same for v. ?  And the ? can be used in case you don't know.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: Marximillian on March 04, 2013, 22:17:21
I'm going to guess that 3 is false, because I expect it to be true.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: bulbapuck on March 04, 2013, 23:59:31
I suppose I'll guess 2 then
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: Yoeri on March 05, 2013, 00:58:31
bulbapuck is correct.
I have never used the nickname Hugglebunny, however I do have that as my Personal Text on a different forum.
wheelforce32 was an alternative nick I had set back when I used mIRC.
beepeedubya is what J used to call me, and I've had that as nick for a short time.
Bubbles is also a nickname given to me by someone, I've used it quite a bit.
 * Tear turns Yoeri into Tewi
<+Yoeri> ...
-!- You're now known as Tewi
NotForSale is a nickname I sometimes use when trying to be stealthy.

Okay, which one of these is a lie:

1) I've seen Lord of the rings
2) I've seen Fight club
3) I've seen Star wars
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: LPChip on March 05, 2013, 14:31:58
✔ 1. Many people have seen it, although I am not one of them, so I'd say this is true (Based on statistics)
✔ 2. Fightclub is a really good movie and I wouldn't be surprised if you had seen it too. So I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt here :P
✘ 3. Many people also have seen star wars, but this is a kind of movie that must really be your kind of thing. Its my guess that its not your thing XD

So my guess is that 3 is false.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: sergiocornaga on March 05, 2013, 15:47:20
I guess that 1 is false.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: bulbapuck on March 05, 2013, 16:05:32
I guess that 1 is false.

Correct :)

Fight club is one of my favorite movies, and I saw all the star wars movies about a year back for the first time :p
However, I really don't like fantasy. So when I tried to get through the first LotR movie, I fell asleep.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: sergiocornaga on March 06, 2013, 15:26:42
Hooray! I apologise for the delay. Here are three statements regarding my sleeping habits:

1. I often find it easier to fall asleep in cars than in my own bed.
2. Lately, I mostly fall asleep at around 5am, local time.
3. I have never fallen asleep in a lecture theatre, though I have come close.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: LPChip on March 06, 2013, 16:29:51
I'm going to say 3, because 1 and 2 are basically supporting each other.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: Marximillian on March 06, 2013, 18:17:46
I'm going to guess 1 is false, because I think it is the most likely one to be true.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: willxinc on March 06, 2013, 19:14:07
I'd say 2, because who sleeps at 5am?
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: sergiocornaga on March 07, 2013, 06:26:56
I'd say 2, because who sleeps at 5am?

2 is indeed the lie. In actuality I usually can't fall asleep until 6-8am.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: willxinc on March 07, 2013, 22:22:42
Oh wow, so I was right just not in the way I expected!
Anyways on to my 3 statements:

1. I hate jazz
2. I can sing very well
3. I own 2 keyboards-pianos
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: LPChip on March 07, 2013, 22:37:03
I'm going with 2 as a lie.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie

Methinks #1 is the lie.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: Purple Ink on March 08, 2013, 16:49:00
I'll guess number 3 is the lie then.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: willxinc on March 08, 2013, 22:06:05
LPChip is correct, I can't sing very well, but I can play piano which is why I own 2 keyboard-pianos.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: LPChip on March 08, 2013, 23:37:15
Yay. Okay, lets see...

1. I have made music in the format .s3m
2. I have made music in the format .mod
3. I have made music in the format .sid
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: bulbapuck on March 09, 2013, 00:37:02
I'm gonna say 2 as it's the only one of those I know.
(The only reason I know about it is that whenever I try to open model files in AMPL the computer thinks they are music :p )
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: Firecat on March 09, 2013, 03:11:54
I'm guessing 3 because that format is the least module sounding one.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: willxinc on March 09, 2013, 03:29:46
Lol, Firecat beat me to it but gonna post this anyways cause I have somesort of explanation for it, 3 as well because SID is a sound card / chip that is amazing to use, but it's not a file format.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: sergiocornaga on March 09, 2013, 04:23:46
Heh, I on the other hand think it would be unusual for LPChip to have not worked with the .SID format. After all, he's remixed Commodore 64 songs, included SLAY Radio in his signature, and promoted GoatTracker on this very forum...
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: LPChip on March 09, 2013, 12:50:21
Funny, no one mentioned 1, 2 people mentioned 3, first one would count in this case.... That is, if I hadn't made .sid music before.

.sid is a fileformat made using GoatTracker or on the C64. You make .sng files and compile them to .sid. I have done that, so 3 is not the lie.

I started out in the .s3m format when I started tracking. I moved on to the .it format, and for a few co-op's, I have made .xm files. I have never used the .mod format because that format is just too limited, and there's no need for it anymore.

So the lie is 2, which means that bulbapuck is correct. :)
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: bulbapuck on March 09, 2013, 15:50:10
Okay. So most weekends I play board games, which one of these games don't we play?

1) We play Dominion
2) We play Dixit
3) We play Gloom
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: CWolvie on March 09, 2013, 17:25:43
I think number 2 is the lie. (because I don't know any of these games, I'm just guessing )
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: bulbapuck on March 09, 2013, 23:21:25
Well, you're excellent at guessing. You're correct.

Dominion is my favorite game, me and some freinds have had ridiculous 14-hour sessions playing it . Gloom is also fantastic if you like to make up stories. Dixit I've never tried, but I want to.

If dog is Your partner (like Your bro) I'd say 2 is a lie. But You can live with Your parents and Your partner  :).

I think 3 is the lie.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie

I think 1 is lie. I don't want to underestimate or offend you, but I think it is more likely to live with parents in country and with partner in city (this is case of me and some of my friends and fellow-students).

Wait, it's a mess, I didn't mean THIS...

Again:
1) I like spaghetti.
2) I like spinach.
3) I like tomatoes.

(Sorry for that mess again. My dad must clicked on post while I was away. >( He's a little crazy sometimes. :D
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie

2 is the lie.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie

I guess I was right then.
So I think 3 is lie. Everyone would say 2 is lie, but I know several people who really don't like tomatoes.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie

ixMarcel, you won. :D
Spaghetti and tomatoes are tasty for me. Spinach not. <_<

Polana: Yeah, it was mistake, so I made the new ones. And btw, I live only with my parents. ;)

OK, my turn:

1. I've played Final Fantasy VI
2. I've played Fallout 2
3. I've played Zelda: Wind Waker
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: pfrangip on March 11, 2013, 16:40:30
In my experience the best way to play this is with unusual facts about yourself, trying to trick the guessers about which is the most (or least) unusual. Saying, "I like Red, I like Blue, I like Green" is somewhat boring in my opinion.

OK, my turn:

1. I've played Final Fantasy VI
2. I've played Fallout 2
3. I've played Zelda: Wind Waker

I will say 2. I say this based on the fact that the other two are console games whereas 2 is a PC game.

[mod]I've removed your list for when you have it right, because its rude. Wait and hear if you got it right, then post your turn. [/mod]

OK, my turn:

1. I've played Final Fantasy VI
2. I've played Fallout 2
3. I've played Zelda: Wind Waker
I guess 3, because Fallout sounds like a big deal these days and Final Fantasy 6 was an extremely big deal back then.

See, that was exactly what I was afraid of, and hey I haven't either eh?

1: My birthday is tomorrow (on March 12).
2: I'm currently using Linux (on this laptop).
3: My family owns a box (about as big as a jewelry box), and inside it is my deceased grandfather.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie

I'm going to say the lie is 1.

3 seems too weird to lie about.
2. could be, could not be.
1. Everyone lies about their age and when their birthday is... :P

My grandfather was cremated, and the box contains his ashes, what's weird about that? I'm almost offended, but I did expect people to be put off by it so whatever.
Anyway I am using Linux, and my birthday is not tomorrow, though it is indeed on a day this month.
LPChip has the next round.

No, don't get me wrong. I mean its weird if you'd lie about it.

I'm going to put some random statements here that are not related, because it seems to make it a bit harder to guess. :)

1. I can play the Djembé
2. I have completed the game Rage
3. I only like white bread

Cwolvie is correct. :) I started to play Rage, but about a quarter in the game, I lost interest. Its not a bad game, but it lacks a bit variety, and its very linear, even when it claims not to be.

 :)

1) I'm a bit lazy, my room is a mess and my mother always forces me to tidy up.
2) I can drive, I have a driving license.
3) Last night I had a dream about prisoners.

Cool!  Incidentally, I'm in the same boat as you, mainly because I just don't like cars very much.

1) I own and run a fairly large public Minecraft server.
2) I tend to experience multiple personalities in my own head, and not always just one at a time.
3) My best friends these days consist only of people I've not met in real life.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie

Ah, finally!  Let me run down each of the things I posted.

#1 is the lie, though only slightly.  I don't own the server, but I am an Operator on it.
#2 is true in my case, but I don't really have Multiple Personality Disorder.  It's just my belief that the normal human mind has multiple personalities operating within.
#3 is true, but that doesn't mean I have no friends in real life.  It's just that my greatest friends nowadays are all people I've not met in real life yet.

Purple Ink, you are up!

3. I'm fluent in three languages

Title: Re: Two truths and a lie

Incorrect.   :P What's wrong? My class teacher was arrogant and unfair person, no one liked her. So it's the truth.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: Fubaka on March 25, 2013, 18:36:42
I was talking about the phrasing.  I've never heard someone use the phrase 'class teacher' before.  Usually it's the name of the subject, like 'math teacher' or 'art teacher', or specific to the grade, like 'elementary teacher'.  The closest I could come to the way you phrased it would be 'school teacher'.

That's what threw me off.  :P  Oh well, better luck to the next guesser.

3) One of my favourite heroes is Thorgal.

3. I'm a big fan of Mike Mignola's work.

3. I have played Dead Island Epidemic

Title: Re: Two truths and a lie

StraightFlame is correct.

I have played GTA1 and 2. When I played GTA3 I noticed this just wasn't my game. I liked the free-roaming stuff a lot, but not the actual missions, and the more you progress, the less nice the free roaming becomes, which lead me to stop playing the games.

The other two I do play or have played in the past.

Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: Talps on April 17, 2015, 23:05:14
Ok, two truths and a lie...

1. When I was about 10 I started drawing (pencil on paper) levels for a 'Sonic the Hedgehog' game I'd imagined. I have dozens of them; I was making them into my mid-teens.
2. The first computer game I made on a computer, the first playable game, was a series of levels on a level designer for a Pacman-style game called 'Zapman', where you have a gun and can shoot the enemies. My levels are shaped like GBA Zelda dungeons.
3. After playing 'Knytt Stories' for the first time, I looked at the level designer and decided it was so complicated I'd never be able to use it. I was inspired to try again by a dream I had of a level I'd like to make. I've never made anything resembling the level from that dream.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie

Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: Talps on April 19, 2015, 19:58:19
2 was the lie. The game is real and it did have the capacity to play custom levels, but not a facility to make them.

The rest is true!

 :)

1. I have successfully completed level Dark Sea by SecretGlitch several times.
2. I have successfully completed level Eurydice by Talps several times.
3. I have successfully completed level Endless Winter by Bulbapuck several times.

Edit: Thanks sergiocornaga! The article THE in the first sentence is wrong. It's Dark Sea actually, not The Dark Sea.

Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: sergiocornaga on April 20, 2015, 21:19:09
1 is clearly a lie since a level called 'The Dark Sea' doesn't exist! One called just 'Dark Sea', on the other hand...

But 3 is also clearly a lie since 'Endless Winter' is a collaborative level rather than the sole work of Bulbapuck!

2 is probably a lie too for some reason. So uh, don't count this as an actual guess.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: Talps on April 20, 2015, 21:28:36
'The Dark Sea' may be a typo but 'Endless Winter' seems more likely to be a deliberate inaccuracy. I'm gonna guess '3' is the lie.

'The Dark Sea' may be a typo

Oh...yes, it's a typo . Sorry for that. It was written in a hurry.

but 'Endless Winter' seems more likely to be a deliberate inaccuracy. I'm gonna guess '3' is the lie.

Definitely not. I chose three levels. And I don't care if it is actually a normal or collaborative level or what. I call all KS levels simply as a "levels". I'm not good at terminology at all :).
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: Fubaka on April 22, 2015, 00:17:18
I knew it.  Dark Sea is easily the hardest of the three levels you mentioned, so that choice seemed most reasonably false.

Alright, here goes.

1: I am a huge fan of the Kirby series, and particularly of its squishy pink protagonist.
2: Despite #1, I feel no desire to buy Kirby and the Rainbow Curse.
3: My favorite game for the Wii is Kirby's Return to Dream Land.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie

Sergio is correct.

Epic Yarn was cute, but Return to Dream Land is much better.  Regardless, it still falls short of my two other favorite Wii games, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn and Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

Also, while I am a fan of Kirby games in general, I prefer the games where you can actually walk around as opposed to being led on a rainbow brush all the time.

Epic Yarn was cute, but Return to Dream Land is much better.

I guess cuteness isn't the primary metric by which you judge all media. Weird!

Anyway:
1. I've got an almost-finished Knytt Stories level that I haven't worked on in ages. It's about an island that holds the secret of immortality.
2. I've got an almost-finished Knytt Stories level that I haven't worked on in ages. It's about surviving a spooky malfunctioning environment.
3. I've got an almost-finished Knytt Stories level that I haven't worked on in ages. It's about the horrors of being underground.

2. I use web browser Internet Explorer.
3. I use web browser Google Chrome.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie

Lets assume you're like me. You're not using 3: Google Chrome.

The new opera is basically Chrome, but better (although the old one 12.17) is even more better and I use that one, Internet Explorer for that occassional site that you need to use, Chrome is a browser you used to use in the past.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie

LPChip is absolutely correct. There's no doubt about it :).

As you said, Opera as a main browser, IE for certain sites and Chrome...Yes, I used to use Chrome in the past. My father's colleague completely reinstalled my computer (Windows XP -> Windows 7) a few years ago so I was forced to change my web browser from Chrome to Opera. But I don't regret this decision, I'm very satisfied with it :).
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: LPChip on April 25, 2015, 00:01:26
Haha, cool Do you also use the old one (12.17) or the new one that uses the chromium build? If you use the new one, you might be interested to try out Vivaldi. Its basically the old Opera using the chromium framework, but trying to bring the old opera back. (same developers as the old opera).

Now, lets see... Which one is the lie?

1. I've worked as a salesman
2. I've worked as an accountant
3. I've worked as a paperboy

to avoid confusion, by "I've worked as..." I mean, I earned money by doing this work.

So I pick 3, because I feel that working as a paperboy is a very good start into the world of work :).

So... it would be more logical if that a truth, right, not a lie?

But it is indeed a lie. I have done work as a paperboy, but only to help out friends, not to actually do it as an occupation. Been a salesman and an accountant though. In fact I was an accountant as first job.

So CWolvie, you're up. :)

Yes. Believe me. I have experiences with similar work :).

One statement is a lie, which one?
1) I'm good at Perfect Tense in English.
2) I'm good at Conditional Tense in English.
3) I'm good at Future Tense in English.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: Talps on April 27, 2015, 19:35:27
I have decided to guess that '1' is the lie.

Which I believe is an example of perfect tense, but it seems to me you learn more about grammar from studying a foreign language than you do from studying your own, and since I'm English (which is basically a synonym of 'monolingual') I had to look up what perfect tense is.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: CWolvie on April 29, 2015, 17:55:53
You are correct, Talps.

I always had problems with perfect tense (past/present/future) in English and still have, honestly. I don't use this tense if it's not needed. I could use without the dictionary or Google translator only these kind of sentences "I have been to Spain." and "Have you ever met him?" I think it's hard for someone who don't speak English (mother tongue). So it's easier for me to use another tense such as future, past, present or conditional :).

Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: Talps on April 30, 2015, 16:13:53
Good guess. I did at one point love the LotR films (and Two Towers was my favourite of the trilogy) but every time I read the books I find myself liking the films less.

A list of my favourite films would include the other two mentioned above, as well as Chicken Run (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicken_Run) and Amazing Grace (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazing_Grace_%282006_film%29).
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: LPChip on April 30, 2015, 17:32:13
Haha, I don't like the LotR films either, but for a very different reason. When the first film came out in 200x I didn't had time to actually go see it, but people were overly enthusiastic about it, so I decided to give it a shot. Normally I am not into fantasy, but they said: doesn't matter, you'll love it anyway. So I decided to download the movie through torrent, and it took about 2 weeks to get that movie downloaded. When I finally was ready to go and watch the movie, it then appeared to be the cartoon version that originally came out in 1970 or so. From that moment on, I hate LotR. :P

Anyway, I have pre-ordered the following games:

- Command and Conquer 3
- Halo 1
- Magicka 2

Never judge a book by its movie, LPChip.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: LPChip on April 30, 2015, 23:06:56
CWolvie is wrong. Magicka 2 is the latest game I pre-ordered, which will arrive may 27th. Looking forward to that game.

StraightFlame is also incorrect. I did pre-order Command and Conquer 3, Kane edition, but I purchased it a 2nd time with discount so I could have it directly in steam. I added Halo 1 as the lie for the exact reason you pointed out. How's that for reverse psychology? :D

So Talps, you're up. :) And as for judging a book by its movie, I am not a reading guy. Also I'm not into fantasy overall. And even though people say the Game of Thrones books are really good I'd still not read it, and no, I don't like that series either. :P

3- MultiMedia Fusion 2 (windows)

I guess number one is the lie.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: LPChip on January 26, 2016, 09:44:15
To not stall the game once more, neither answers are correct.

1 is incorrect because: I programmed in QBasic as first actual language, and made a small game but ran into the problem that it ran 'just' on my pc and when I tried it on a friends pc, it ran too fast, and I didn't want to do anything about it because every attempt to incorporate some kind of timer made it too slow on my own pc. For that reason I never released the game.

2 is incorrect because: I've actually programmed several games in Visual Basic. One was a recreation attempt of that QBasic game, but halfway I stopped it and got side-tracked. Don't even have the source anymore. A full game I completed too, is a masterminds game with actual competition mode. You start with guessing 3 positions and only 4 colors, and per rounds more colors and less guesses are added until the next tier, then 4 colors, then 5, then 6 all the way up to 10. Very challenging but fun. Was made in VB5 and it still works actually, but a bit buggy. Though I haven't tested it in windows 10. Can't think of a reason why it wouldn't work though.

So... given that only one answer remains: Multi Media Fusion, I've given this kind of programs a try before, but I just can't make a proper game out of it. I always come across the fact that it doesn't work the way I want it to work, and I desperately want to program it. I've even started with unity, but gave up because its just too complex.

That means... next poster can give a new set of truths and lie.

Given that you posted a reply at 4 am, and now 12 hours later another one, I'm going to make an educated guess and say that you're sick. Being sick often means being tired and not hungry.

So I'm guessing the lie is: "I'm hungry"

I am very shortsighted. When I was about twenty I went scuba-diving in the Red Sea. I didn't have my glasses with me and when I came out of the water I couldn't remember where my family had placed itself on the beach. I was wandering up and down the beach for half an hour, getting into more and more of a panic, until I finally found them.

The only time I have genuinely screamed with fear was because of a cat; I was leaning down to look into a tiny, dark cave and it suddenly came scittering out straight at my face, more scared of my than I was of it.

I am fascinated with caves; I loved going down show caves and old mines when I was younger and a couple of years ago I got to go on an amateur caving session in Cheddar Gorge; it was exhausting but really awesome!

Hard one Talps. All seems very plausible so this will be a guess. I'm tempting to roll a dice even. XD

Lets say the following one is a lie.: The only time I have genuinely screamed with fear was because of a cat; I was leaning down to look into a tiny, dark cave and it suddenly came scittering out straight at my face, more scared of my than I was of it.

Cool beans 8)

My last post on the Could you do me a favor game has made me remember some catastrophic tales of computer destruction. Unfortunately for me and my reputation, only one of them is a lie:

1) I destroyed my friend's 2000€ laptop by accidentally spilling my drink over it while it was on.

2) I once broke an inkjet printer in half with a single punch.

3) When I was a kid, I wrecked my father's computer with the first DOS command I ever typed.

I'm pleased. ;)

My English is not so good so I apologize for my mistakes.

1. The most terrifying moment of my life was eleven years ago when I was twelve. I was walking down the street and suddenly a strange man came out of nowhere and he was trying to grab me from behind and began to drag me away. But I was lucky. Suddenly we both heard footsteps and voices coming from the corner of building in front of us. A young gypsy woman with a child appeared on the scene so he was forced to leave me be and run away. I also run away straight to the centre of the town. That woman probably saved my life unawares. I don't tell it anybody, not even my parents, because I was too scared and I felt so ashamed of it.
2. When I was five, I remember my grandfather sitting on a wooden bench outside his house. My parents and I were there with him every weekend. I was sitting on his lap while he was telling me some old fairy-tales full of unicorns, dragons, evil kings and queens, elves, witches and brave young boys and girls trying to save their beloved ones. I really enjoyed it and I become a fan of fantasy books and movies as I grow older. However he died in 2014 and I still missing him.
3. My sister and I didn't go to kindergarten at all. Once I asked my parents why and my mom answered me that all kindergartens are only a waste of time and nothing more. She says that children should stay at home with their parents who take care about them until they are able to go to primary school. They don't trust any teacher in kindergarten, because nobody knows the child better than his own parents. It's strange point of view, but I didn't complain about it. Hey, I was small child then and didn't care about anything!

Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: LPChip on February 08, 2016, 22:52:20
I think this one is the lie:
Reason, it has a contradiction in the sentence.

Correct! This statement is half-truth. The beginning of the sentence 2 about my grandfather is a lie. Only statements

2.  I love The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask for its compact overworld, its strong atmosphere, and its dungeons which are all tend to focus heavily on tight design and a central mechanic, among other things.

3.  I love The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for its unique takes on old-fashioned Zelda equipment, its gorgeous sound design, and its partner character, Midna, among other things.

Technically it was true, but I just lost my title so I guess it's a lie now? I say you win as people didn't really want to play.

There were only 4 competitors and backgammon is quite luck-based, so I saw it more as being lucky than boasting. This season I came in 4th out of 4 :p
The original lie was the football. It wasn't a football and it wasn't mine. Borrowed a friend's skateboard to see if I could still do some trick, not even close. The board flew off and got run over by a bus. Now it's two boards! Also unskateable.. Felt bad man :/

I've read about two thirds of the first book. Haven't watched the show. So I guess 3 is a lie because that's the only name I don't remember (it was a couple of years ago so maybe he was in the book and I've forgotten, or maybe he just doesn't appear until later).

Also, your question contains some pretty devastating spoilers for potential readers/viewers.

I'll guess 2 is the lie.

I'll pick 1 as it remains.

Purple Ink is correct! He wasn't my favorite character.
Spoiler: I agree that (click to show/hide)
, but nothing more. I found most characters more interesting than him. :P2

I didn't read the books, but I found on Wikipedia that he is first mentioned in 1996's A Game of Thrones and subsequently appeared in 1998's A Clash of Kings, in 2000's A Storm of Swords and in 2011's A Dance with Dragons.

Yeah. I know. It's my fault. But I could not help. X)

Please, next time do. I almost deleted your post because of it, but decided against it. I'm not sure I will keep the post next time though.

It will not happen again, I promise. :( :)

Okay!

1. I taught myself to juggle at age 19.
2. I've never dyed my hair.
3. I've only had Tim Horton's once.

I have no idea what you mean by 3, so that must be the lie.

Well, my choice is number 1.

Tim Hortons is a coffee and doughnut shop based out of Canada.

This is like 4 years old.

Anyway, the lie was 2. I've dyed my hair a lot. In fact, it's currently blue and purple.

Someone else should make a post so we can guess.

1. I can make great LUA scripts from scratch.
2. I can make great PowerShell scripts from scratch.
3. I can make great VBScripts from scratch.

Based on absolutely nothing I'm going to guess 1 is the lie.

And you are correct! Purple Ink. :)

Oh. Haha. Okay so ...

1. I'm left-handed
2. I'm colourblind
3. I'm overweight.

For some reason I have a feeling 1 and 2 are both correct, which would make 3 the lie.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie
Post by: Talps on January 05, 2021, 19:01:36
Well, I'll go for 2, since that's the least likely choice.

It was a bit of a trick question. I'm ambidextrous so technically not left-handed. :shifty:

But LPChip is correct. Number 3 is the lie.

Alright... lets see...

People do know I am musically gifted. Of course I have different music instruments at home too, so the choices are these:

1. I own a Guitar
2. I own a Djembe
3. I own a Jaw Harp

I disbelieve the jaw harp.

And that is correct! I nearly got one though. A friend of mine was with me and he did get one. I do own the other two instruments, and a bunch of other instruments as well.

I have played a D&D character who was a kobold wishing to become a dragon.
I have played a D&D character who was a pessimistic talking wolf.
I have played a D&D character who was a halfling-sized lizardfolk barbarian.

I think 2 might be the lie... unless that's what you want me to think and it's actually 1! But yeah, I believe it's 2. Or maybe 3.
Title: Re: Two truths and a lie

I shall guess 3 is the lie.

Greyview the wolf would definitely have something fatalistic to say about having his reality called into question.

LPChip gets it.

1. I have more working musical keyboards than I have working screens that can be used to show something from a pc. (laptops are excluded)
2. I have more working musical keyboards than I have working pc keyboards.
3. I have more working musical keyboards than I have working dedicated speakers (so speakers that are inside/part of a device are excluded, such as headphones, phone, etc.).

And that is correct. I have lots of keyboard, I also have lots of screens, but not that much, but given that I have 2 speakersets and a few bluetooth speakers, I just have more of them. I hoped people would think this was "too easy to be true" and go for another. xD Damn you reverse psychology.
