Title: [Platform/Shooter] Iji
Post by: Rixanu on April 07, 2009, 23:38:34
Description:
Iji is an action-packed platform shooter by Daniel Remar. Iji, the protagonist, visits her dad at work, when she sees a flash of light outside. She later wakes up to find out the building has been invaded by an alien race called the Tasen. Equipped with their technology, she sets out to try and get them to leave. This is an excellent game with an awesome story, lots of weapon choices, and a unique level-up system. The story of the game also changes depending on how many kills you make, and it's full of secrets. It's also won multiple indie game of the year awards for 2008. Definitely a game worth playing (and re-playing ;)).

Have fun. ;)

Heh, played this a while ago... excellent game. It took three or four years to make, iirc. I might replay it (yet again) one day, try and beat Ultimortal. Oh, and I like the credits song. :P

The story is ridiculous and the dialogue is bad. The graphics are horrible and not very interesting gameplay.
The only thing that is good is the music and its not that good.

This game remains epic.  Still wish it were possible to get a decent amount of Supercharges on Ultimortal, though - would give me something to work for.

I liked the game so much I ended up putting together an alternative music pack for it. "PassivePack" (the alternative music replacement pack) can be downloaded here (http://www.mediafire.com/?n1uz2gzghko) and there (http://www.box.net/shared/bsrasi50vt). Got author's (Daniel's (http://www.remar.se/daniel/)) permission to do it, of course.

Ahem. I found this about an hour ago, thought I might play for a couple minutes...and as you can tell, I've been playing it non-stop! This game is win. I also like how it changes your personality depending on how many aliens you kill. That's cool. :o EDIT: Hm. Maybe I was wrong. I beat the first two sectors without killing anybody (only doing a total of...11 damage? Somewhere around that.) and it was the same. Before, I was killing a LOT! :D

EDIT: I'd like to take a moment to say IJI'S MUSIC PWNS! Especially the drums. I'm a fan of drums, and I wouldn't mind learning to play. :o

EDIT2: Only read this if you've beaten the game!

Spoiler: Big spoiler, probably. (click to show/hide)

Also, I believe the damage counter refers to how much damage Iji takes, rather than how much she deals to others.

The first time I beat the game I did it with 0 kills. (I had to replay several sectors 'cos I accidentally killed a few people.) I was disappointed that there aren't any unlockables associated with a kill count of 0, especially since getting 0 kills is probably harder than some of the other unlock conditions.

The plot changes were worth it, though.

Oh hey it's probably important to note that a new version (1.4) of Iji was released yesterday.

There are, depending on your definition of "unlockables."  Or rather, there is.

My definition of "unlockables" is "extra content, not immediately related to (the primary) gameplay, to which access is obtained by way of fulfilling some condition within the primary gameplay".

Well, that could really go either way.  Suffice to say it's not in the Extras menu, nor is it in the *ahem* *cough* main game.

You may have found it already.  Though, realize, that 0 kills is only one prerequisite of getting it.

I've played this game earlier in my time here, and I can safely say I never had too much of a pain with the pacifist run.  The things to do to keep the kill count at zero on the other hand, isn't too easy, especially with the fact of not having a high enough tasen and komato weapon level, and...

Right now, I am working on a bloodthirsty killing spree run with this, but is on hold at the moment due to a project of mine.  I might even consider a Tileset or two dedicated to Iji.

How do you beat the game with 0 kills when you have to kill the bosses to stay alive?

(sorry to bring this topic back up again.)

Is it possible to download a new version of the game but keep the previous save files?

Is it possible to download a new version of the game but keep the previous save files?
It should be. However,
Quote from: Daniel Remar
NOTE: When downloading a higher version of the game, please make a backup copy of your savefile (ijisave.sav) in case something goes wrong if you choose to overwrite the old game folder.
So do back up your save, just in case.

Anyway, the game! Wonderfully amazing. I spent a couple of months just wringing every last secret from the game's dead corpse. Tor on Ultimortal just wouldn't flipping DIE. But it was worth it; the final secret is so full of win.

I can't stop playing this game. -.- Is it possible to get 100 cracks without cracking enemies as well? The best I can muster is 80. (81, but an elite got in front of a terminal and it thought I wanted to crack him.)

*sigh* Cracking enemies it is.

Why do you not want to crack enemies?
'cause they shoot me before I can do shit. At least with any enemies beyond the green and blue guys.

P.S. Has anyone cracked an annihilator before? It's supposed to drop 64 nano.

Erm, I have not finished the game yet, but I think I found a secret; I have just defeated Iona the Invincible, and I quit to the main menu after saving, not proceeding after "level 9 complete". When the menu appeared, the black screen that usually shows the heroine standing on top of a defeated enemy, now shows her standing in front of the enemy, throwing her gun to the floor in front of it. Is this of any significance?

Post by: Purple Pineapple on August 31, 2010, 06:00:52
Actually, it's Iosa, not Iona. XD As for the startup image, I believe it relates to how you play. When I first started taking notice of it, it seemed to always be the pacifistic image. Then one time it showed the killer version, so I figure it out. Other than that, I don't think it's very significant.

The startup image is entirely random and has no significance in regards to the gameplay itself, as far as I can tell. :)
