yes this is not a joke of any kind at all. I have had this idea for a Knytt RPG for quite some time and now it is begining to take shape. blox is making an engine using MMF2, charity gets to be the art director for the game, Sabata is doing art as well, HaPK will do what he can and so far Earthbound015 is the only guy doing music right now. it will not be a side-scrolling RPG but rather a top-down view(look at Mother 3 for the view type). the story will revolve around what would have most likely happened to the knytt homeworld if that alien hadn't crash landed. so far there will be some platforming stuff but not much of it. also there will be exploration quests that you don't need to take but make it easier to beat the game. if anyone would also like to offer their services please feel free to drop me a line.

if you want to make some art that's cool. just remember to run all of your art stuff for the game by charity as she's head of the art in this game.

Where is the Knytt homeworld? WaDF implies it's a future Earth, or at least a planet inhabited by very human-like creatures.

The homeland of knytt is what you see in WADF, apparently, however, since it's up to you to fill in the blanks, it's not really worth talking about in this topic (since you could argue that this way is more right and whatnot, and this isn't about 'what is the REAL home of knytt, and what IS is supposed to be'). The RPG will have it's own version of what the knytt world looks like, and 'is', but will try to feel very 'knytt'.

I would say to create an environment emulating the Harara Mountains, and maybe some of the other WaDF zones, if the characters adventure.

I had some concept art of Juni drawn up last night, but Mum disconnected the net before I could upload it... and it's not on my USB, so I'll do it when I get home. :P

What DO you all want as far as main characters go? Just Knytt/Juni, or some new ones?

I am not against this project but the idea feels ridiculous. why knytt in a RPG? Its like um... stupid.
I think you should screw the whole idea, instead of trying to make knytt into something its not, don't make a fan game. Make a real game and have some imagination.

Skin is a bit dark and eyes might be a bit too far apart, but remember this is only a concept - and it could be part of the art style anyway. :P

The only person who can access that address is you. You need to upload the file somewhere like ImageShack (http://imageshack.us/) or TinyPic (http://tinypic.com/) and then link to it from there.

You need to either upload the image on a separate site and link to it here, or upload it as an attachment to your post (it will need to be a different image type too)...

I'm one of those don't judge things till you've played, seen it, or heard it type people. I used to think that RPGs were time wasting games and no fun till I tried one for myself. lets try to be like this with this. also thanks for the comment Dfast.

Cool. Also, I had an idea: The mushroom from DEtM could be a power-up that makes the user stronger, but you can't choose what attacks they use until it wears off. They'll use totally random attacks, instead.

If you need an idea, you can always ask me. I play Kingdom Hearts, a game called Magical Starsign for the DS, and I used to play Pokemon. ;)

Hmmm...

Well, I'm a little doubtfull to the inventory screen, as it doesn't look so... well, Knyttish, I guess. And the items are a little weird too.

Will there be a world map? If so, you could have a quest for gathering something like the aliens ship parts, to get an airship.

I'd love to help with this, writing, drawing or anything like that, but allas, I might just have to much on my hands lately. None the less, I'm full of ideas and could prolly help out with writing a sub-quest or two if it was ever needed. Oh well  X)

I'd love to compose music for this project. I need something to give me a kick in the pants ideawise as far as music creation goes. If you have any idea where you want to go with this, let me know. Give me atmosphere, setting, etc. and I'll try to make it fit. I'm not an excellent composer, but I am getting better.

Also, I just can't see a combat oriented game based on Nifflas material. I don't know how this could be avoided though if the plan is to make an RPG.

Then again, Earthbound (and Mother 3 for that matter) never actually stated that you had "killed" the enemy. Your opponent had "been tamed," "ran away," "stopped moving," or "went back to normal." If the big bad is infecting the inhabitants of Juni's world, the game just might work. But does everything still vaporize Juni in one hit?

Also also, couple of ideas for spells/techs/PSI/whatever you want to call them.

Juni should obviously be the most versatile of her group as far as reusable items goes (like Duster in Mother 3). She could have:
 - the hologram: creates 1-hit-kill clones of the chosen character from anyone in your party
 - the umbrella allows her or a companion to completely avoid an attack for one turn, must "charge" after that
 - the detector: increases the chance of dodging an attack
 - "speed-up:" slows Juni down for a couple of turns in order to boost the speed of one of her partners, as though she gave the powerup to someone else
 - "double jump:" decreases Juni's dodge chances so that another character can perform an extremely powerful jump attack

Can you guys think of any other unique uses for Juni's powerups?

The Original Knytt would be the "warrior" dude, because of the lack of powerups for him in Knytt. He would collect pieces of The Ultimate Weapon throughout the course of the game, as he did for the alien's spaceship, each increasing his attack (with the Ultimate Weapon increasing it several times greater).

Maybe The Ball from WaDF could be another party member? This could lead to some interesting, Pokemon-esque material weaknesses (maybe some enemies are weak against rubber, others against metal, etc.). At the very least, it should be an item.

Adding on to what Rhyok said about The Ball, it could turn into Normal (blue) ball, Space (green) ball, Metal (Iron) Ball, Amorphous (Yoga) Ball, Freeze Ball and Pathetic Ball.

Space-->Metal-->Normal-->Amorphous-->Freeze-->Space
Space weaponry can disenegrate Metal, Metal can crush Normal things, Normal things can stretch Amorphous substances and break it, Amorphous can break Frozen stuffs, and Freeze can deflect Space lazarz.

I have another idea for WaDF ball.
Maybe it should show the present state of character.
For example:
Practice: normal state
Yoga: slowed
Electric ball from WaDF2: paralyzed
Freeze: does it need any comment? ;)

The "knytt homeworld" and the WaDF world is the same. The little village in the beginning of knytt is in Harara mountains in WaDF.

Yes, I was just trying to say that there aren't just knytts in the knytt world, like that bunny thing that you get hints from in wadf.

all that is still under wraps. we have a couple songs for the game made by earthbound though and a secrt person is making a song for the game. do know there will be 4 man members in your party.

2D doesn't mean sidescroller. It means that the graphics only exists in two dimensions, in other words, only has an x and a y axis.

Technically all games are 2D, as they are displayed on a 2D screen. 3D games just look 3D because of some complex math being done behind-the-scenes.

I was asking a serious question. When I was younger, virtual reality was like the big deal. Nowadays people are like, "Whatever." <_<

Well, if I get enough inspiration, I may attempt (then probably abandon) a Knytt Stories RPG with the OHRRPGCE engine. :o
