Title: Within a Deep Forest source (embarrassing)
Post by: Nifflas on February 26, 2009, 17:28:38
It's terribly old and embarrassing! It only opens in MMF1.5 with a certain set of extensions. Still, here it is!

Game (http://www.ni2.se/files/game_sources/Within%20A%20Deep%20Forest%20(old%20and%20embarrasing).cca) source and Secret Games (http://www.ni2.se/files/game_sources/WaDF%20Secrets%20(old%20and%20embarrasing).cca) source!

Known about this for a while, but have no idea about the TGF extensions...

I have all of the required extensions (it's MMF, not TGF, by the way), and am willing to provide them if needed :D

dmc2.mfx
move.mfx
ChangeAnim.mfx
Platform.mfx
A2PGV.mfx
Dsound2.mfx
kcfocus.mfx

Thank you Mr. Monkey

.cca is MMF1 :P

Anyway, the extensions are attached :D

EDIT: If you have MMF2, you may be able to load it by putting these in your MMF1 extension folder, but you would not be able to do much else, as some extensions haven't been ported. :/ (remember, as Nifflas said, it only really works in MMF1.5)

Hmm.. It opens in TGF
If I need MMF1.5, that's okay. I didn't really need to see it, but i'll try the extensions.

EDIT: Ah well...

Woah, I was just about to post "I don't have the extension for Wadf! :O Anybody know where I can find them :("

Thanks Mr.Monkey! :D

EDIT: Do I have to buy MMF 1.5?
I have MMF 2 already...

If you have MMF2 with the proper extensions in the /mmf1/ folder, you can still open it. You'll need MMF1, however, to run or build it.

For those who get the message "Error while loading dmc2.mfx", download this (http://www.clickteam.info/extensions/extview.php?id=160) and put bass.dll into your MMF2 directory (where the exe is).

I know this is a horrible topic resurrection, but after adding all files into the correct directories, it is still impossible to load dmc2.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Anybody?

(apologies for the bump/doublepost)

I think you need to put the correct version of Bass.dll (the one in the WaDF folder) in... was it the Windows\System32\ folder or was it Multimedia Fusion's Extensions\ or Data\Runtime\ folder?

System32 is a good idea. THANKEES  8D

Wait... that didn't work.

Are you on Vista? I just tested it on Vista (x64) and it doesn't work. I don't know why, it did on XP before.

Nope. XP professional, x32.  :S

Argh. I really don't know then. It worked fine before, I know it. I even made a screenshot of it!

Guess what everyone! I was browsing Clickteam's site and I found this! (http://www.clickteam.com/website/usa/downloads/index) When you go under 'retired products,' there are two links for Multimedia Fusion 1.5, both a standard (http://www.clickteam.com/website/usa/downloads/index/33) and a developer (http://www.clickteam.com/website/usa/downloads/index/34) version. I dunno about you guys, but I'm gonna try opening the source with it. :^^:

Edit: Damn. It's just a 1.5 upgrade. T-T

If anyone still has a copy of MMF1.5 and the extensions needed to edit and recompile WaDF, I'd like to purchase them from you.

Since the mod of KS - Knytt Stories Plus has the integer scaling, how hard it would be possible to add this feature also to WADF? I am strongly considering doing it, but have no idea if the extensions problem is solved.

To my understanding, the source is impossible to edit without a copy of MMF 1.5. Clickteam doesn't really care much about maintaining backwards compatibility. So hardly anyone even has the ability to mod this game, let alone an interest in doing so.

If you want to give it a shot yourself, you'd probably have to find a physical copy of MMF 1.5.

Thanks to the legend egomassive, here's the working, archived source link for WaDF: https://web.archive.org/web/20210111214715/http://niffpage.greywool.com/files/Sources/Within%20A%20Deep%20Forest%20%28old%20and%20embarrasing%29.cca

EDIT: And WaDF Secrets: https://web.archive.org/web/20171203005417/http://niffpage.greywool.com/files/Sources/WaDF%20Secrets%20(old%20and%20embarrasing).cca

Hopefully someone can post a link for MMF 1.5 and the extensions soon too - I'll be looking until I find them!

EDIT: Here are the required extensions, apparently (archived from earlier in this thread luckily!): https://web.archive.org/web/20210511111457/https://nifflas.lp1.nl/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=38.0;attach=80

EDIT: Archived "retired products" section of Clickteam website, not sure if this is everything needed: https://web.archive.org/web/20210427192116/https://www.clickteam.com/download-centre/retired-products

And this looks like the disk image of MMF 1.5: https://archive.org/details/imsimmf15iso

I'll report back once I get my Windows XP machine up and running and test all this stuff! Apparently I might need some file called Bass.dll so we'll see.

Update since my last post. I picked up an old PC for $20, set up Windows XP (runs WaDF game perfectly <3), installed MMF 1.5, the aforementioned extensions and copied bass.dll from WaDF to the MMF/Programs folder and. . . Cannot load extension Platform.cox </3
Adding bass.dll to the folder with the MMF exe solved the same issue with the dmc2 extension, so does someone know if there's a required .dll for the Platform extension? I feel like we're *so* close to finally being able to update this game!
