Title: [Challenge Easy] Stone Tiers v1.2 by Headgrinder.
Post by: Headgrinder on April 19, 2010, 03:07:52
Stone Tiers has been updated with my updated Smooth Stone tileset you can find here:
http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=3341.0 (http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=3341.0)

And the new version is here:
http://www.knyttlevels.com/levels/HeadGrinder%20-%20Stone%20Tiers%20v1%202.knytt.bin (http://www.knyttlevels.com/levels/HeadGrinder%20-%20Stone%20Tiers%20v1%202.knytt.bin)

And an updated screenshot (for comparison to the old tileset) is below.

I think I got the wall swims fixed, and I changed an enemy (The purple spike guy just didn't seem to fit the level).

Ok, here is my 2nd ever level, and my 1st ever tile set.

It is a weird tile set, I realize, as it does that thing where Juni is walking on air, but it was an idea I had and I had to do it.  Anyway, I think it is beautiful and interesting.

The poem thing is a bit weird, let me know if it is too emo, or cheesy and I'll not change it, but simply say, yeah, your probably right.

It is a whooping 5mb because I include music (with permission) from a friends band at:
http://www.blackbirdcathedral.com/ (http://www.blackbirdcathedral.com/)

And here is the download link:  http://knyttlevels.com/levels/HeadGrinder%20-%20Stone%20Tiers.knytt.bin (http://knyttlevels.com/levels/HeadGrinder%20-%20Stone%20Tiers.knytt.bin)

Please enjoy with jealous profundity.  ... and I'll try to post a screenshot.

For some very odd reason I can't get the level from the level archive - other levels download fine, but not this one  O_o Could someone reupload it to somewhere else please?

@ Yohji:  That is really weird.  I just tested the link and it is working fine.  Why don't you try it one more time.  If it doesn't work for you, I'll try to find a file server to upload it to.  I've never used the cloud before, though, so I don't have any accounts or such, so please try to get the original to download first.  :)

@ theiza27:  Yes, you missed something.  :)  I'm glad to hear my challenge level is actually a challenge.

And thank you all for tileset compliments.  Oh crap!  ha!  I just realized I didn't sign any of my tilesets!  :kicks self in the head repeatedly:

I've managed to get it to start downloading, but now it's stuck at 37%... eh.  :moody:

You don't need any accounts anywhere btw, services such as sendspace allow free sharing with no registration required.

UPD: Yay, I managed to get the complete file!  :D

Finished it. Easily my favorite level from this competition and one of the best I've seen lately. A terrific mood, beautiful tilesets and work with color; I was literally stunned when I saw one of the first colored screens! The music was very good and fit the visuals perfectly. And finally, it was nice to see I'm not the only one to try

- I thought this is the most creative way of approaching this competition's limitations. I tried doing that in my level, too, except that I guess it didn't work quite so well

I really hope to see more KS levels by you. Hope this one didn't disrupt your real life too bad (and if it did, well, it was worth it methinks  :D)

Holy Hand Grenades!

That was sublime, man!  The tilesets were gorgeous and well used, the story was short and sweet.  Tasted like a tale of growth and rebirth.

Nice, Dude.  Honestly hope this one wins the compo.

A short but enjoyable level with nice custom graphics, relaxing music and non-orthogonal design. Me likes :D

Thanks for the comments guys.

@Bulbapuck:  Weird dude.  I guess try re-downloading it.  Maybe you ended up with an error in there... it's happened to me before.  Hope you figure it out, b/c I dunno!   O_o

This is *beautiful*.

I haven't had any time to myself in weeks, so, while I've been downloading some levels, I haven't had the time to play any - let alone comment. However, the screenshot for this one was so intriguing that I just had to try it, and thankfully it was small, so I could actually play it in its entirety!

This level has a very unique look and atmosphere. I love the rounded, organic look, and the colour combinations. The music went well with it, too. This is one for the favourites folder!

I found one wallswim, though. See below.

Could I use this tileset for the Great Art Community level? Or is the tileset even public?

I'm trying to decide if I'm ready to make it public.  It will be eventually, but I don't think I'm done with it.

As for using it for the Great Art Community level... hehehe, I kind of want to enter that with it.  It is my baby after all and it is highly influenced by my art work, which I'll post a pic of real quick just for the heck of it.

Once I'm done tweaking this tileset, I'll make it public, but I'm not quite ready to do that yet.  Keep on my case about that, however, or I might get lazy and not get around to it.  :)

This level is very unique with the tilesets, It was good for the fact that you also had to backtrack to get the rest of the powerups. Its good how you made all different colors for one tileset. Did you change the HUE and Saturation, You have a lot of patience if you used only the paint can. (Paint.NET)

Anyways, good level

I use gimp 2.0.  I heard someone mention it on the forums, tried it and fell deeply in love.  Easiest and most versatile program I've ever used.

For the trees I simply changed hue and sat, but with the smooth stones I actually made a template.  With the template, I can make a smooth stone tileset from any pattern.

And thanks for the comments.   :^^:
