Title: [Challenge] [Medium/Hard] The Elevator Beneath The Valve

The air down here is of thickened, strangling mass. A gentle resonance gives way to almighty mechanic/bestial rumbling. Slowly, hymnal tones cascade through the walls amongst the crawling filth. "Humanity..." she thinks "is not far away."

This is a short little level, only 100 screens or so, an industrial horror-cum-platformer. I don't intend to make it jumpy, this is a slow build if anything.

I've composed 20 minutes of industrial ambient for this - It'll be best played with headphones. Overall, I hope it's a unique experience, at least. Expect this around late March.

This is the best level preview I have ever seen!

I love the premise, and I know you can't go wrong with custom music! I'm looking forward to this a lot!

Well, to me that was not an actual screenshot from the level. It looked like a screenshot of the title screen. Which, in my experience, often has very little to do with the look of the level itself.

None of this means that I think this will not be a good level, of course. Aptequar has a good track record, from what I've seen, so I fully expect this to be great. *g*

This is the kind of levels that attract alot of people. Even the name can make it sound so awsome! I just cant wait till release! :D

That image just blew me away. Although, as mentioned earlier, the actual level is quite different from a representative image.

Between the splash image and the teaser text, I'm reminded of both this recording (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Lisboa_Elevador_da_Bica.ogg)  (which, like Don't Eat the Mushroom, is best played blind the first time) and the Submachine series of games (http://submachinegames.com/submachine_1.html). The level may not be anything like either one, but in the meantime my interest is piqued.

Oh, yeah, I can tell already that, unless you're vastly overestimating the difficulty level, this is going to make me weep tears of blood at not being able to survive long enough to see it all. (Not without recourse to the editor, anyway, and that's just never the same. A level like this I like to play fullscreened in a dark room.)

I realise I'm rapidly becoming the VALVe of Knytt Stories levels. Rest assured I am still working on Half Life 2: Episode 3 The Elevator Beneath the Valve and it will be out sooner than you think. I'm simply taking my time to ensure its quality, and to bring some new ideas to the table.

It is cluttered, buuuut, I think it is playable and their is indisputably a strong visual character in it you probably couldn't get any other way.  I think I likes.

It does look like it might be confusing between what is land and what is background, which is basically never a good idea, cus it makes a game annoying/frustrating rather than fun. But I'm not sure. You have to remember that any level you make with a section relying on difficult-to-see or hidden platforms is going to be more challenging for a player than the maker, because the maker will know where all the platforms are.

I'm actually very surprised by the second screenshot; like others said, it looks a bit cluttered and very, well, sort of blurry and chaotic... unlike the first screenshot which has sharply defined stuff. I wonder how the level manages to create transitions between such different areas.

It's good to know (I think...) that you're still working on this level. There aren't a whole lot of horror-themed levels around and this shows a hell of a lot of promise.

That certainly conveys a sense that this will be a lot creepier than I had previously thought, though it is very vague and hard to derive an image from.  Perhaps that can be a good thing if it is a puzzle that unwinds in the game.

I can't wait for this level, it looks awesome. One question, though: what does the Cyrillic text on the title screen say? To me, it looks like ИСПОРЧТЧНВТИ, which in turn looks like random gibberish. Care to shed some light on this?

Just to let you know, I'm overhauling a substantial part of this level to meet with a new standard I've adopted, including the audio portion, which is now roughly 40 minutes of industrial/dark ambient and  accompanying sound effects.
