Title: Nyquist-Meyer Puzzles
Post by: .viR on December 13, 2009, 18:28:50
Anyone know the answers to these puzzles?
Spoiler: (click to show/hide)
I really can't do them. :( Other than the first one.

You mean that particular one or every puzzle on that planet?

Have you checked the hint on the PDA?

For that one, my solution is:

Well, I tried 3 of them and couldn't do any of them.
(Thanks)
Doing the other planet in the mean-time. :D

They're pretty heavy programming-logic puzzles. The issue is not only how to move them with limited number of steps, how to move them optimally enough but also to find common-enough steps as a whole.

A real pain. Not that it makes a bad game, but a real pain.

Heh, I took the other way around. :)
Not entirely the same though.

So does anyone mind giving the answers to the others? :/

For that one I used a totally different solution:

I didn't think there were so many different solutions for the same puzzles.

What do you do once you have all the symbols? I got all 4 of them, but the password-prompter won't accept them. Are they supposed to be in a specific order or am I missing something?

I think they are 5, not 4. They are not particularly hidden, so you shouldn't have much trouble finding the one you're missing.

I can't find the fifth.

One is just right of the ship, in the open.
The second is underground, down the first hole.

Then there is an intersection: either go down, with two jumping green things to get to another one that is also guarded by a laser barrier from the right;or go to the edge of the cliff where there is another one.

The fifth is atop a platform, where you have to go right, jump off a wall and do a bit of plat-forming to get to its terminal.

Actually, do you think the code would work without completing the puzzles?

On another note, haven't done level 5 on the other planet yet, hard but awesome. :D

The code probably does work without completing the puzzles, but that's basically cheating. xD

About the other planet, yes, it's awesome. :)

Post by: .viR on December 13, 2009, 23:07:08
Yah but asking for the solutions is cheating anyway.

EDIT: I suppose you have to get to the terminals.

Then don't ask! I spent more than half an hour (at least that's what it seemed) staring at the heart shaped puzzle... (Didn't remember there were hints on the PDA. :P)

And I thought the "pipe" puzzles were hard.

Funny. I could solve all the rest but I couldn't get this one.
[british] Could one of our kind forum members direct me towards the answer? [/british]

Offtopic, but does anyone think that the music on this planet is very similar to Arctic Wasteland (The Future) in WaDF?

I'm having trouble with that one too.

Requesting a guide for the heart shape puzzle.

Thanks.

A semi-spoilery hint:

Knowing this makes things a lot easier.

I knew that, goog.9_9 That's how I managed to solve all the previous ones!
I just can't get this one, though. I've spent hours on it!

Well I discovered the PDA thing, which made some of them easy, however I still can't do this one.

EDIT Actually I just guessed the last 2, didn't take long. (In the code)

There are three solutions for that one earlier in this topic. :P

Interesting. Seems like there are many possibilities for each puzzle. So, I decided to show mine:

Spoiler: (click to show/hide)
There's only 3 because I only saved pics of those, since the two others were waay too easy. Also, sorry that only half the puzzle is shown, but the PDA can't take larger pics (I uploaded them right from the data folder). But I think you can see which puzzles they are anyway.

So, I'm about as un-program/logic minded as you can get, as proved by the fact that I got THIS FAR
Spoiler: (click to show/hide)
on the multiple-solution monster .viR mentioned above before giving that road up as impossible and trying several completely nonsensical ones, because I somehow made the arbitrary and obviously false decision that the path that seemed most promising was a dead end.  So much so that I had to look up the solutions, and saw mine staring at me with the obvious addition completing it.  I even considered that very option, thinking  EUREKA! but after attempting to 'run' it in my head dismissed it as so obviously flawed that I didn't even bother punching it in.
I think it's time I gave up attempting to learn even C++.

Is this a bad joke or what? It's insane, difficulty of these puzzles reminds me last levels of Fish Fillets 2.  I completed only first puzzle, the others looks imposible for me.   I have no idea what  to do.

OK, I think I'm able to do it now. There was one big problem, PDA info is completely useless, very important info missing there about how exactly works last main function, now it make a sence for me.

PDA info isn't useless. It's meant to give you hints or get you started with a puzzle, not solve it for you. I find it quite handy.
