Title: Bought it, thinking about it or refraining?
Post by: Beomene on December 12, 2009, 04:48:28
Vote here! ---> http://beomene.deviantart.com/

I don't know how to put up polls any other way. Hm.

EDIT: WOW...! Who put my poll up over there?
Thank you, invisible helper!

[mod]Added the option: I've got it from someone :)[/mod]

Cake for you!
I will try to get a list down with people who have bought it,
or at least genuinely wants to but are somehow hindered (it would be fun to also state their hinderance),
and will try to get Nifflas to wave hello to every single one of them on the releaseparty video...!
*evil scheme that Nifflas knows nothing of*

I'll buy it once I'm sure it runs on my computer, even if it ends up with flipbook graphics.

I have an acer aspire one (the very first model) and it is running  ;) , although a bit slow at times.

I'm about to buy it. I'm looking up the purchasing information in another tab at this very moment. :D

I will once I finish the demo, since I've enjoyed Knytt Stories so much.

I'd love to buy it -- I'm adoring the demo, and I've been playing Knytt Stories FOREVER. I've probably logged more hours in Knytt Stories than in games like Knights of the Old Republic.  :^^: But I can't afford it right now -- all my Christmas shopping sucked up my disposable income, which wasn't much this year anyway due to the state of the economy.  :/ I'd be happy to Paypal someone two dollars for their second activation key, though! I can afford the $2, but not the $17 right now. Any takers?

Picked the last/new poll option. Hope it counts if I got it from Niff. X)

(Back in Jan for beta testing )

My sissy excuse is that I have no way to get the money to Nifflas, 'cause I'm too young to have a paypal account. I'd gladly pay the 17 bucks for the game, but I guess it'll have to wait.

Can't you arrange something with your parents? Like that they keep it from your allowance? Or perhaps get the game for Christmas? :)

Well, I tried already, but no luck... My parents (and family) are completely computer illiterate, they're the kind that believe that paying through the Internet will get them scammed and lose all the money in their bank account.

Hey, charity, your name seems awfully familiar, but...
Also why do I think of Niffchat now all of a sudden.

Really? They don't even trust PayPal?

Well they didn't even know what it is, and they googled it and happened to find this page: http://www.paypalsucks.com/, so, long story short, I can't really say they trust it :/

Wow, and I thought my parents were noobs...
There is complaint- and hate sites of everything, but don't take them seriously because... well they are trying to brainwash you.
Good, though extreme, example: http://www.godhatestheworld.com

Wow, LimeLemon, I've never seen a better example of Poe's Law. If they're serious, that site is terrible, but if they're trolling, it's fantastic.  <3

that is very unlucky for you. :(

to answer the topic, i played the demo the day it was released and then bought the full version the day after (along with an extra code for a friend). this game rocks my socks so hard.

Did you already pick a friend to give the extra code to? If not, I'll be happy to pay you $2 to give it to Candlelight.  C)p

Bought and finished. That was a nice afternoon treat for myself after finishing my last exam! I'd already voted for "playing the demo and buying afterwards," however. There's a good chance that that survey will get pretty inaccurate pretty quickly as people buy it.

Did someone already give you their code, karooble? I picked up the extra code without really having anyone to give it to (none of my friends would appreciate this game), I just figured I might as well for an extra two bucks. It's up for grabs if anyone wants it, free of charge!

Just as soon as that second email arrives, that is...

No, I haven't found anyone with an extra code yet. But I'm more likely to be able to buy the game than Candlelight is, so I think they deserve it more for now. :) I'd love to play the full game soon (I've played through the demo twice already), but I can wait if I must.  :^^: Candlelight should have it!

Works for me! Still no followup email, though, so whoever gets it will still have to wait until it comes.

Until then, I think I'll go scan through the Secrets thread to make sure I found everything...  8D

Maybe you should send her a PM to let her(him?) know -- she's going to be overjoyed! :D I'm touched by how sweet people on this forum are. You've just made someone's Christmas, Muttroid. <3

You guys are such nice people, it's not often that one finds such solidarity, especially directed towards people who are almost complete strangers. It's actions like those that still give me some faith in the world. :)

You both have my deepest respect. :)

*blushes* Thank you! That means a lot to me. I'd still love it if someone else had an extra code lying around, but otherwise I'll wait until next month when I can fit it into my budget. :)

Something a lot like this happened on the Torchlight forums soon after its release -- a kid was desperate for the game, but his parents refused to purchase it (monetary reasons). One of the users on the forum just bought it for him outright, trusting that it wasn't a scam and not really caring if it was. They didn't even have a "get an extra copy for 85% off" deal -- he just paid the whole amount and sent it to the kid. It was adorable, and deeply heartwarming. The little fellow was overjoyed, too.  C)

Aw, shucks, t'ain't nothing, sure. If the people I know aren't cool enough to enjoy a good, atmospheric platform/explorer game, I figure someone should benefit from my purchase, and who better than someone on the forums?

Aha! I knew I should've check my junkmail box! My second code came at the same time as the first (which makes sense, really).

PM being sent to Candlelight!

I feel like telling you about a surprise I received today... I come home after a rather atrocious exam, log in to the forum... and find a PM from Muttroid asking me if I'd like a key for the game.  :whoa: :^^:

I know this forum is special, but I'd never have thought someone'd actually give away a key to a complete stranger... hell, it's not just that we've never met in person, I don't even have 10 posts here..

THANK YOU, everyone..

Ah! The warm fuzzies that come from this thread are overpowering! Go, Niff Support Squad, Go!  X) You guys rock! I personally will have to wait a bit to get the game, since my AP History grade wasn't so good for the quarter, but when I do get my hands on it I plan on getting a friend code. So if Karooble or someone doesn't get one by then... well, I'll probably have en extra!

Just so you know, a thread dedicated to goodwill key giving has been created here (http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=2349.0). Feel free to offer your spare key in that thread when you get one.

Glad I could start a good Samaritan trend here!

I'm impressed.

This is the right way to treat strangers.
How come you are all so likeable on this forum?
Is it something about Nifflas type of games (which is stemming out of his personality) that pull nice people together?
I'm starting to guess it is...

I think so -- his games focus so much more on peaceful ways to address dangerous situations than basically any other games I've played. Take Knytt Stories and Saira: sure, you encounter dangerous enemies, laser beams, etc. But you never destroy them with guns or bombs; there are no zombies, no blood-and-guts. Instead, you use your mind and your agility to outmaneuver these dangers. The resulting game attracts, I would guess, a much more peace-loving audience; we're not the people who spend our days playing Counterstrike and shouting obscenities into headset mics. ;)
