Title: [Logic platformer]SHIFT
Post by: victor12 on July 09, 2009, 12:19:55
SHIFT is a game where you are a test subject. This game looks like a classic platformer... Before you press shift.
What happens? So... You shift!
Spoiler: screens and links (click to show/hide)

Good luck and enjoy shifting!
PS.Oh, and there is a level editor.

I liked the game but I think there are too many games using/ripping off Portal's player-as-test-subject conceit. (Which Portal probably got from somewhere else anyway.)

So true. :/
Personally, I think they're doing themselves the most harm, since that just makes people compare their games to Portal. And there's no way they're gonna win that competition.

But I do like this game. It's done quite well. I just wish it was longer. :P

My opinion is pretty much what has already been said. The concept is cool, indeed, but it's too short.

Well, they aren't really ripping off portal with that. Any game can be about a test subject.
Its just the "now you're thinking with shifting", "the timer is a lie", and the ending that they are ripping off.

And the concept of numbered rooms. (I mean numbered in-game, not like y'know levels which are numbered.)

I like shift 3 the best, but the concepts in shift 4 were cool.

/agree

Shift 4 ruined it with the countdown timer.

Since when is Portal the first game to use the player-as-test-subject concept?  :/

In any case, Portal popularized it.

portal invented the concept of "playing along", you finding out about other test subjects, then they try to kill you and then you escape and run away and then... yeah. I won't ruin everything.

Wow - Just found this game and it is AWESOME. And an editor, no less. Did anyone build any levels?
