I absolutely agree with all the above, this is simply a wonderful game. Now I plan to punish myself by completing it on Alternative.

NightSky / Having trouble downloading? [SOLVED]
« on: January 06, 2011, 20:22:09 »
For some reason when I try to download either the exe or the zip I experience problems. Firstly, the download is painfully slow, ~30kbps. Secondly, the download drops out at around 1/3 through. Other downloads from other sites run at full speed, so I can only assume it's a problem with the Nicalis site.

At any rate, I would like to play this game. ALOT.  :^^:

Another fantastical sight from the real world: Meteora in Greece.

I've always imagined some Roger Dean-inspired artwork in a Nifflas game working really well. Although of course with pixel art/photographs not oil paints.

The floating islands would certainly make for interesting platforming.

Instead of building a music player/art viewer, which would be cool but maybe taking you too far away from the development of the game itself, why not have a page in the credits with a users contributions? Tilesets/creatures or any other visual items could be shown with a simple cropped screenshot, and if the user has contributed music, it would play on that page instead of the standard credits music. I've seen a few KS levels that tackle it in this way, quite well I find.

Also, I realise this probably isn't the place, but I'd love to compose some music for this.

Hmm. Worked for me. Try it now?

This is my adaptation of a traditional mongolian long song. Mandolin is real, accordion is sampled but heavily tweaked, and I'm the xhoomeizhi, or throat-singer. I recorded this as a practice really, but I think it came out pretty well.

Even if it's not your thing, I still appreciate your comment.

One question, though: what does the Cyrillic text on the title screen say? To me, it looks like ИСПОРЧТЧНВТИ, which in turn looks like random gibberish. Care to shed some light on this?

=|=

It's ИСПОРЧЕННЫЙ, which is the masculine form of "spoiled" or "corrupted" in Russian. (native speaker here)

Bingo.

Just to let you know, I'm overhauling a substantial part of this level to meet with a new standard I've adopted, including the audio portion, which is now roughly 40 minutes of industrial/dark ambient and  accompanying sound effects.

the putrid infection is spreading

Keep moving // it is impossible to touch
the flesh will melt, the eyes will roll and darken as vision becomes unseeing
movement surrounding
a frail hand to grasp
pulls away

minutes turned years becoming ashen-faced as the walls
carving lines into shrouded skin
shred away as rabid and murderous as the wretched hands themselves;

no breath to define life.

yet?

I realise I'm rapidly becoming the VALVe of Knytt Stories levels. Rest assured I am still working on Half Life 2: Episode 3 The Elevator Beneath the Valve and it will be out sooner than you think. I'm simply taking my time to ensure its quality, and to bring some new ideas to the table.

Thanks so much for your confidence in me, everyone. ^_^

Hey guys, sorry about the wait. Real life kinda got in the way. It's ridiculous, that. :P

I can't be sure on release date, however, here is an update:

I've decided to release some of my tilesets to you guys - they're not fully done by any means, some are just barebones but they can all be used to construct full screens on their own. I'll let them out in a trickle, rather than all at once.

First up is the "Aqua Cavern" tileset, useful for multi-layered screens as it blends in well with some of the defaults.

...As you can see, I'm not one for "tileset efficiency". :P

Oh, and don't worry fans-of-that-level, I'm moving the concept, levels and that over to something bigger, which you should appreciate. Other than that I'm keeping quiet. :3
