Not sure what to say about it, other than I'm working on an environmental level in the vein of The Mysterious Grotto, but with less of a plot than TMG and more of me doing whatever the heck I feel like without listening to people complain about there being no "win" tile and no story and asfajshshajksasa

The name isn't...really a name. I just tend to type in a random bunch of words when making a level, start doodling around, and eventually it becomes a level. So as of right now, the folder is called "I Don't Even". Other titles I have include "Garf", "Escape from Buttland", and "WILL YOU WORK FOR ME NOW".

I've also got a beta up and running. If you want to actually test it for glitches, voids, and the like and not just get access to half of a level early, post that you want to beta test. I'm probably only gonna choose a few people, too, so first come, first serve.

So, yeah. I've kinda been half-making a ton of tilesets before giving up halfway through. Some of them are nearly finished, and others are just a dozen or so tiles. I may come back to these in the future and add on to them, but don't hold your breath. Feel free to consolidate and edit these as you see fit, just make sure to slap my name on it, too.

UPDATE 3/25: Added a ton of stuff to the overworld tileset. It's now in the Mostly Finished category.
UPDARE 3/26: Noticed a few things off with the overworld tileset. Also removed the pointed edges for the path and added vertical-ish paths. Also added an example for the tileset.

I...really ran out of creativity halfway on this one. :v It's supposed to be an homage to Zelda II, the abused and neglected stepchild of the Zelda franchise (not saying I ever played it, myself) but with the typical Knytt Stories feel.

Suggestions? I've been wrestling with the idea of giving the ground a solid black (or near-black) outline, rather than the shaded outline, as much as I do like the way it looks. I'd just hate for the tileset to clash with other tilesets, when it's used in an actual level. :T I've always hated it when in a level, I go from a generic, Knytt-esque looking tileset to something suddenly hyperrealistic, with thousands of colors.

Another thing I've been thinking of is changing the bridge. I wanted to make it look like the bridges in Zelda II, but I think a flatter bridge might look better.

Vanilla is a project I've been working on and off (mostly off) for about a year. It shows off every tileset that comes packaged with the game. You can either stroll through each screen one after another, or head to the warp room to go straight to a tileset to see how it looks in an actual level.

I've crawled through the screens multiple times, but if I did miss a wallswim or something, please say so!

I also didn't include music because it's supposed to be more of a reference. Pop your own music on, it's better than what I could make, and you probably haven't heard it as many times as you have the default songs. ;)

Update to version 2!

Knytt Stories - Custom Content / [KS+ Character] Adult Juni
« on: August 15, 2013, 10:39:12 »
Or at least "Older Juni", but....fghdasjgfh
Not at all for an ambitious KS+ project that I'm not at all making. Nope.

Juni's grown up, gotten a bit taller, and her hair's grown out longer. It's gotten a bit messy, but it doesn't stop her from doing...things. Climbing and...uh...swimming up walls...

The only problem with it is, with GraphicsGale, I can't get PNGs to have partial transparency. It's either all the way there or all the way invisible.

Now you may be asking, "Why doesn't she cut her hair? Why -is- her hair messy? Why did you even need this?" Well, as I said, it's not at all for an ambitious KS+ project. So I hope that answers your question.

By all means, please do use it. Edit it if you must, but if it still bears a likeness to the original, please credit me in the level. I would like to know what level you're using this for, as well, so I can keep an eye on it!

Vanilla is a project of mine I've been working on for a while. It's about taking every default tileset and creating one screen of it and combining them all in a sort of gallery. I started working on it about a year ago before giving up around Nurykabe's tilesets. Go figure. I picked it back up a few months later and I'm now halfway through at 128, and I decided this is a good time to make it public and release a demo.

Not all of the screens are finalized, since there's a few I'm not happy with (though I blame the tilesets themselves sometimes...), but those are few and far between. I could probably count them on one hand.

There's also a warp room that lets you warp to every tenth level. The design of it's not yet finalized, though I do like using Tileset 0 for it~

Post any glitches you find, any SGEs, any words of advice at all!

Hello, fellow denizens of Niffland! I return from--wait a second, I don't know half of you new guys!

Anyway, yes, I'm back after being away for a loooong time.  New community here, new levels I need to play, and new games Nifflas has released.

Marking my first time back from my hiatus is an old, old level I managed to dig up from KnyttLevels, polish a bit, edit around, and finish it up. It's just a few screens long, but you'll be spending a few minute on each screen. No story, no fancy-shamcy new music, no custom objects, just a good ol' trickjump level. Who even needs custom objects? Back in my day, we didn't HAVE no fancy custom objects! If you wanted somethin' to move, you'd have to make it move with shifts! If that wasn't good enough, then TOUGH GRAVY, you'd have to do without!

...Uh, where was I?

Oh yeah.

Lazors.

And nope, it's not a trickjump. At all.

Ring a bell? I doubt it, but a while ago, I made a remix of the infamously overused Dr. Cliche tileset to hopefully add some variety and make it still act like the Dr. Cliche tileset while looking different and being fresh and new.

Problem is, I deleted my Photobucket account a while ago, and lost it all...

Does anyone have this tileset anywhere? I've been fiddling around in Knytt Stories, and I'd totally put that tileset in if I still had it.

From here.

I made a ton of COs and tilesets a looong time ago, but I deleted my Photobucket account with those pictures a long time ago. I've got The Mysterious Grotto and all of the COs and tilesets I used in that one, but none of the others, like 75M or my ruins tileset. Halp?

They're Nurykabe tilesets. I may or may not be on a secret project, but I'm not, so don't worry. Yep, no secret project.

Anyway, how do I use those tilesets? >.< Planetes, #41, is surprisingly self-explanatory for a Nurykabe tileset, but I don't know how to use any of the others. :|

On another thread, Nurykabe himself posted examples of all of his tilesets up to #34, but none of them after that. Halp? :c

Edit: Aha, nevermind. Turns out Nurykabe has examples on his own website! Usin' those, you can delete this now. :P

Srsly. How hard would that be? I might even be interested in making something like that, if I get ahold of a PSP SDK or something. Would I need MMF to do that?

Development Showcase / [Pixel Art] Pokemon: FireRed Tileset!
« on: July 04, 2012, 20:15:21 »
So, yeah, as the title says, I made part of tileset0 for Pokemon: FireRed. The style's a bit different, but still seems to fit well in a Pokemon game, in my opinion.

Pics are attached, the first one is the tileset and the second is an example I patched together. Thoughts?

EDIT: Ack, just realized one of the colors in the tileset didn't show up in the example screenshot! The light brick color is, instead, the midtone color. Look at the brick building, and the left side of the red roof.

What specifically can I not do if it contains copyrighted material? I know I can't post it here, but what about KnyttLevels? That's run by LPChip (right?) so I doubt I can put it there. And what about me distributing it? Can I PM a link to the level to people?

14
Don't expect anything amazing. Seriously. It's not completely horrible, but it's definitely "sub-par".

This is the result of two nights of boredom between me and a friend. If you seriously want, you can add stuff yourself and release it as long as you credit me and Za Lama! for making the original.

v1.0.1 KnyttLevels

Edit: Me and ZaLama! got back together and we're kind of sort of starting together. It won't be in two different versions, though, just one version.
Mods, if you think that this level would now be considered "incomplete", then tell me and I'll revive the thread in the previews thread or make a new one, whichever you'd prefer.

Well. Me and my real life friend, Za Lama!, were walking to Wal-Mart one day. On the way there, there is a dusty area filled with dead grass. Za Lama! said that it was a "small desert of cool air" because of the breeze and the relatively short distance between the street and the Wal-Mart. He said he wanted to make that a Knytt Stories, but, because I know the engine better, I decided to do the levelling while he gives me ideas.

Tl;dr, me and my friend are making a level that's mainly just a stream of random thoughts. It's just...I honestly don't know how to describe it...

Here's a screenshot from a less random screen.

Edit: Done, check the level releases board!
