About Nifflas' Website and Forum / Limited time left...
« on: November 10, 2009, 00:42:54 »
I hate to say this, but I'm sure you guys know it... I can't be as active anymore. In fact, within a matter of 2 weeks at the most, I won't be able to get on at all. I'm sorry, but things are happening, and my parents have decided that I'd better not spend time on this forum anymore, as "it takes up too much time. " I have no option, now, but to leave, but I should be able to sneak in and finish off hosting the mafia game, but DWYW 2... I don't have enough time (it usually takes me an hour to type it up!). I'm sorry...I'll really miss all you guys!

Forum Games / Guess who!
« on: November 07, 2009, 04:29:16 »
An experimental game.

The rules are as follows:
One person posts details, quotes, etc. from another person, without revealing who they are.

Two details at least MUST be provided (ie, one quote, one detail, etc.).

After that, people must guess who it is. Whoever gets it right gets to start the next round. If they fail to do so within 72 hours, then the person who led the last round may go, and so on.  If nobody guesses, then the person adds more clues. YOU CANNOT GUESS YOURSELF!

No inappropriate details, etc.

I'll start.

Indeed, "how to draw manga" -books are often very misleading, because once again, they show the style of one, usually very mainstream manga artist. Learning from one-two such books is practically the same as copying other person's style and then calling it your own (though the mainstream western manga is basically just that). Therefore it's best to try to learn from as many different sources (if you want to draw exactly manga; overall, the best thing would of course be learning real anatomy and realistic style, which you could then use to create your own style of art), that'd teach you different way to approach things, and also give perspective to the style aswell.

My friend who started as a pretty untalented mainstream-"manga"-drawer had a pretty interesting way to learn drawing anatomically perfect people. In addition to just studying anatomy hard and drawing all the time, he started to form sort of a 'skeleton' that he used as a basis for every person he drew. That's quite usual thing to do, but it was very amusing to watch how the base skeleton evolved as he learned more; so he basically changed the outlook of this skeleton every time he noticed there's something anatomically wrong, and little by little he learned the relations and anatomics so well that he didn't need the skeleton anymore. Oh weh, why did I say this?

This person has six games on the forum right now...

Forum Games / Mafia 6.5 Main thread - OVER
« on: October 29, 2009, 01:37:47 »
You wake up on a cold winter morning, in the time before the light. The sound of evil laughter fell around the world last night.

As you rise up, you notice the chilly temperature. It is abnormally cold, so cold, in fact, that your daddy's dentures froze in the water he placed them in. It's so cold, in fact, that the light itself seemed to freeze. Your toilet water froze. Anyway, you get the point.
You walk out, and see everybody else searching for something. It's you who has found it, though. You find the body, stashed in the frozen pond behind the library. You are the seven who see it first.

WHO DID IT??? Better figure it out!

Knytt Stories Level Editing Support / Backgrounds
« on: October 12, 2009, 02:26:54 »
I just want to double check on something: are we allowed to use backgrounds taken from searching the internet, then resizing/cutting them down to the correct size? Or, if not, is it allowed if we post a link to the site it's from?

Forum Games / DWYW - Part 2: Luck goes haywire: round SIX
« on: October 04, 2009, 00:30:28 »
Spoiler: Rules (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Story (click to show/hide)

You all wake up six feet under the ground at the Nifftown cemetery

You will have until Oct. 8th to submit your actions in this thread. Also note that I decided that instead of you searching for the essence of luck, one person will be assigned it at the start of each round. It's abilities may be changed depending on a few factors... note that the essence of luck will not be handed out during the first round.
Finally, if you would like to join but aren't in the game yet, feel free to post an action and I will count you in the game.
Have fun!

Alright... who's up for another round? Well, I've got some news for you... things are changing in the DWYW universe. First, there are now different categories of actions (more on that later), and there will be a random element added each turn (a six sided die will be rolled, with a greater chance of "success" for the random element to occur each round that success has not been achieved). I also plan to incorporate some storyline... but first, here's the original rules:

Now, onto the categories of actions:

Spoiler: Categories (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Dodging (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Submitting an Action (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Concerning the Dead (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Backfiring Chances (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Story Teaser (click to show/hide)
The story's a work in progress, but I hope it's enough to be interesting. Before you ask, yes, you CAN obtain the essence of luck...

So, anyone up for this game? Post here or pm me by Oct. 6th.
Also, feel free to discuss changes to the game here, or make recommendations. If a decent number of you are opposed to something, let me know, and I'll see about changing it. Hope to see lots of you there! Feel free to choose different names for yourself for the game (ie, I could play as, say, Sofia III or something), and they will be accepted as long as another active forum member's name is not chosen (no impersonating people!!!)
Also: There will be surprises... fun surprises...

Also, updated the prayer description: you can do basically ANYTHING with it, but it doesn't have a great chance of succeeding.

About Nifflas' Website and Forum / The official leaving thread?
« on: September 25, 2009, 06:57:35 »
I thought, after reading some posts, and how topics for leaving were always locked, which, according to LP Chip, is because they are merely informative, that a thread like this would be a good idea, provided that everyone who posts after a person has announced in this thread that they are leaving can only post once until somebody else has announced they are leaving (also, we could have a welcoming thread too!). Please let me know your thoughts.

Collaborations / AUS EP [WIP] Please help!
« on: August 05, 2009, 02:53:50 »
This is a project that's already in motion. It stands for: An Untitled Story Extension Project. Here's the details:

Quote from: Arkatox
Spoiler: awesmoe project (click to show/hide)
It will be an awesmoe project, but they really need help. Also, check out other YMM games, while you're there. Maybe even become a member! Please feel free to join. It will be really nice once it's finished. Hope I started this thread in the right place.

Please post your thoughts here.
Oh, and by the way, this IS NOT MADE BY YMM. He just wanted to make that known. It is made by his fans, though he is in support of it.

Just a tutorial level I made, seemed like a lot of people need help with this. There are only 12 unique screens, but all of them have 3 signs, and all kinds of warps. This covers, but is not limited to: multi-flag warping (returning to a room that changes more than once), shifting flags on, finding the number of a power for a flag, exactly what to type in the .ini file (excluding the room name...), standard warps, and I forgot to mention you can shift flags off, including powerups. Maybe I'll put that in the upcoming test... (to test yourself to see if  you can get it to work right). I also plan on making a shift explanation level, as well.
If you see any SGE's, void screens, etc. please let me know. If there is something I forgot to add concerning flags or normal warps, please let me know.

Here's the link.

Forum Games / Dead board - Mafia 3
« on: July 07, 2009, 07:31:10 »
Just something I saw on the old forum...

Anyway, for anyone who's interested, it is my belief that Nes and Lunar are probably innocent... for the town, anyway... the reason is: the mafia killed me to make you all point fingers at them, as they were the most opposed to me. However, if Lunar and Nes were the mafia, killing me would make them be the prime suspects, something they would probably not do.  It seems obvious to me that the mafia is poking fun at us, and we have no clue who they are. Be careful who you vote, and good luck. If you win this time, this is the first mafia game in either this forum or the old one where the town wins (I think...). You guys can do it, just don't vote foolishly.

#ModArchive Story / MAS - Favorite bosses?
« on: June 01, 2009, 06:53:18 »
Just out of curiosity, which boss is your favorite from MAS, and why? My favorite boss is Zepsi, because he is the easiest, in my opinion.
