I have this beautiful winter birch forest tileset by Lewis Wolke, but apparently a summer version exists as well, as evidenced by the screenshot attached. Sadly the screenshot is all I have. Does anybody have the actual tileset?

upd: eep, accidentally posted in the wrong subforum. Sorry about that!

Knytt Stories Level Previews / [Environmental] Untitled Project
« on: January 20, 2016, 20:03:10 »
Hello everyone,

I haven't been active here for quite a while. Some of you may remember my levels such as Pestilence, etc. I haven't been knytting at all in these past few years, but last autumn I've started working on a new level. I've always wanted to build something as large as Gaia, only with more fleshed-out and realistic (as in, no chocolate cities) environments. That's what I'm doing now, but just as something to help me relax every now and again, because knytting has that effect on me these days.

I'm sorry to say that the level isn't very, um, new or modern? All tilesets are from a long time ago and most were used in at least a few levels, because I suck at pixel art, but want nice-looking graphics. There are no tricky shifts, challenges, or any handiwork of that sort - like I said, the level is very much like Gaia in concept, only hopefully a bit more pleasing to the eyes. And as much as I appreciate egomassive's work, my level doesn't use any KS+ capabilities.

It's really something of a private affair, just something for me to do, like a model ship or something. I never thought of releasing this to the public, but my website logs tell me that even in 2016 some people are looking for my levels - so strange to see KS is still alive today! - and so I've reuploaded those, and I'm putting this topic up in case anyone is interested in another level from me. Only if you liked Pestilence etc.,, this one is not experimental at all. Here are a few screenshots to give you some idea of the thing. They're all from the first continent. I hope to finish at least one continent eventually, and three if everything goes according to plan. I've no idea how many screens there are already, sorry.

(I like doing tiny changes to the tilesets I'm using, but those take a lot of time, because like I said, I suck at drawing in general and pixel art in particular. I also suck at doing interiors, so you can't go inside any of those houses. Oops! Sure wish this wasn't the case...)

Knytt Stories Level Releases / [Challenge/Easy][Small] Nightmare World
« on: November 03, 2012, 19:37:12 »
Here's a small level about Juni having a nightmare. There are two main areas and one secret area. Custom sound effects & music from freesound. As usual, I use tilesets in uncommon ways, as the screenshot demonstrates. I apologize for any wallswims and/or voids, but I have no time to beta test

http://www.jashiin.com/miscellany/Yohji%20-%20Nightmare%20World.knytt.bin

I've got a lot of unfinished levels now (e.g. Pestilence 2.0, a larger version of Understanding Time, etc.), but judging by the current state of the community, by the time I get around to completing them, there will be no community to release them into. It's a bit sad, but I guess that's only to be expected. It's been discussed by others before, many times. So I decided to put every other project on hold and finish Nightmare World, since it was the only one I could finalize more or less quickly.

Seeing how this is quite probably my last KS level, I'd like to use this opportunity to thank everyone here who ever offered me their support. Making levels has always been hard for me, and you guys kept me going. Thanks to you, I've learnt a great deal, and had a lot of fun doing it :)

A very small level in which Juni explores a castle. Made in a hurry in two days, for Healy's competition. Inspired by Fegon's castle levels, and Dennis Lockwood's brilliant series of woodcuts of castles and ruins. No goal, no endings, just warp yourself here and there, enjoy the scenery, etc. There's some custom music I made.

I couldn't fix the tilesets, so some of the tiles have invisible solid parts (surprise!). It's very irritating when you find those, but this probably won't be happening too frequently. Like I said, the level was made in a hurry, so please excuse any voids and/or SGEs.

Knytt Stories Level Releases / [Easy/Misc] Silver Lining
« on: March 24, 2012, 17:54:15 »
Here's a very small joke-type level about death. There are five bad endings, a bad semi-ending (eh), and one good ending, which is hopefully very hard to find without cheating or using the editor. Takes about 5 minutes to find most of the endings except the good one (?), but I hope it's enjoyable anyway  :D

upd: I lost the original files, and uploaded the only version I have to Knytt Levels. Oops!

Despite extensive testing, there may still be bugs here and there. I'm sorry in advance about those. Please report those and I'll try to fix them.

Below: boring stuff on how the level came about and why it is the way it is.

Knytt Stories / Problems with sound in KS 1.2.1 (fixed)
« on: October 26, 2011, 23:21:07 »
I had to reinstall Windows (was using XP SP1, now using XP SP3) and now I can't really play KS because of numerous problems with sound. Music and ambient FX tracks sometimes just stop, and turning sound off doesn't quite work - when Juni's running, there's an annoying clicking sound all the time, like amplified bits of the actual running sound. I have no problems with any other software. Does anybody have any ideas on what may be the problem? The soundcard I'm using is E-MU 1820m, if that's of any help.

Hello everyone,

I thought it's been too long since my last released level, so here's a small something I made in my spare time:

http://jashiin.com/miscellany/Yohji%20-%20Understanding%20Time%20v07.knytt.bin

Admittedly, the level is small, but I plan to expand it sometime in the future, hence the "v0.7" thing. I just had this urge to release something, you know? This was expanded from a small draft I had lying around, which was initially meant for Silly World (http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=3494.0 - I do still plan to release that one day). Feedback welcome, but keep in mind I never really did coherent levels with smooth terrain  ;)

Knytt Stories Level Releases / [Environmental] Concealment
« on: February 25, 2011, 19:13:28 »
The Concealment is a link between worlds. It is a voyage through the darkness, to reach the eternal Garden. Beware of demons that haunt both worlds. Seek refuge in ghost lights.

http://knyttlevels.com/levels/Yohji%20-%20Concealment1.0.knytt.bin

This level is a greatly expanded version of my small level Moonlight. The preview thread is here: http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=4287.0 - it has more screenshots and stuff. I was, and still am, planning to expand this further and add at least one more area, but real life is currently far too busy. I have no idea when and if I am able to work on it, so here's the latest playable version. It has three normal areas, two secret areas, and two endings - a normal one and a secret one.

I made this piece for a level I've been working on, Silly World, but over time my ideas changed and the music no longer fits. But it's a nice loop with a quasi-8-bit feeling, I thought maybe somebody else could use it in another KS level, or even another game! So here it is, distributed under Creative Commons BY-NC-SA:

http://www.jashiin.com/miscellany/Ambi255.ogg

It's conveniently converted to low quality OGG format and renamed, ready for use in KS levels. But if anyone needs the original WAV or an MP3 version, PM me, I'll be happy to provide it.

Knytt Stories Level Editing Support / [Request] Ghost Juni
« on: November 10, 2010, 16:34:27 »
Hello,

I was wondering if anybody could make a CO of a semi-transparent, grey, ghost version of Juni for me, similar to the ghosts found in Bank 12. Not moving, just standing at the centre of the tile, two versions (facing left and right) or just one (facing right). I would've done it myself but I have a lot of problems with GIMP transparency for some reason, and simple transparency doesn't work quite as well. I can supply a .gif/.png version of Juni on a white background (beware of using Juni from one of the standard tilesets, since she doesn't match the character exactly). I'd appreciate it greatly.

Knytt Stories Level Previews / [Environmental] Concealment
« on: November 09, 2010, 21:28:59 »
As some of you may have already noticed, I've started expanding Moonlight - http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=2152.0 - reworking the existing level and adding more areas and ideas. I'm happy to say there's considerable progress, and I really hope I'll be able to release the level before the year's end. Here are a couple of screens, two areas out of the projected three or four.

Knytt Stories Level Releases / [Misc/Easy] Control Circuit
« on: November 02, 2010, 17:06:06 »
Here's a tiny little playground/concept level (there are no challenges, just an environment) for the current KS level competition:

http://jashiin.com/miscellany/Yohji%20-%20Control%20Circuit.knytt.bin

It was meant to have some music to make things more fun, but my synth setup kind of broke today and I couldn't record anything. So there's just wind and stuff, sorry about that!

Also, I have like four levels in the works, two of which may be released fairly soon. Stay tuned!

Knytt Stories Level Previews / [Challenge][Easy/Normal] Complacency
« on: August 14, 2010, 21:52:47 »
I've started working on a small challenge level. It's actually not so much about challenge, but about the passage of time, which I hope to implement as realistically as possible. For example, after you pass through an area where snow is falling, upon your return to the area you'll see snow deposits on the ground, and some of the enemies will hide and others will emerge. You start the game in late afternoon, and as you progress, the sun is slowly setting, the place is getting darker and again, some critters disappear while others appear. And so on. I have two areas more or less completed, and plan on adding at least two more; maybe expanding one of the ones already completed.

No idea when I finish this, sorry. May take quite a while, may take only a couple of weeks. The forum won't let me attach screenshots ("upload folder is full", eh?), so here are links to two screenshots:
http://funkyimg.com/u2/484/377/complacency-1.png
http://funkyimg.com/u2/215/138/complacency-2.png

Apparently the image upload service I've chosen doesn't tolerate linking from here. So here, hopefully, are the screenshots, now uploaded to my own website.

Boy, what an ill-fated beginning for an unassuming little level.

Knytt Stories - Custom Content / [Request] Garbage/trash tileset
« on: July 02, 2010, 14:02:37 »
I've decided I really want to continue working on an unfinished level I made for egomassive's competition:
http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=3483.0
The story takes place on a garbage dump, and now I really need another tileset, one with actual garbage and trash. Take a look at the level (or at the screenshot posted in that thread) and you'll see those garbage heaps in the background, dark grey shapes. That's the kind of terrain I want to build, but out of actual, well, trash. It doesn't have to contain actual identifiable objects (although that would be nice); what I need most is just a texture, recognizable as trash, basic colors white-ish to light grey or beige (look at the container on the screenshot, at the right, to get a vague idea of what the trash should harmonize with), with a few spots of bright colors here and there (like magazine covers, discarded food packaging, etc.). Maybe a metal rod or two sticking out in places, etc.

Basically, what I'm asking for is way too complex for me to do. And without such tileset, I won't be able to continue the level  I realize it's probably a difficult task for anyone, so if someone feels like drawing one for me, I'd really appreciate it. All I can offer in return (apart from you being in the credits, obviously) is music for your level, should you need any. I can do anything, from chiptunes (http://jashiin.com/tracked/nes-loops.mp3) to relaxed electronic soundtracks (http://jashiin.com/tracked/birdcall-track-2.mp3) to avant-garde music like the stuff I used in Pestilence (http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=1942.0, http://jashiin.com/improvisations/pestilence-free-cat.mp3).

I'm making another weird environmental level for KS. All custom graphics, all custom music. I hope to release it sometime during the summer. Here's a screenshot!
