Still chipping away... although these days there's not much time I can dedicate to KS.

Eep, I feel so silly now. Thanks!

This is still going strong. The concept has grown so large now, though. Now I understand why Gaia required 4+ people to make and not just Drakkan!

I have this beautiful winter birch forest tileset by Lewis Wolke, but apparently a summer version exists as well, as evidenced by the screenshot attached. Sadly the screenshot is all I have. Does anybody have the actual tileset?

upd: eep, accidentally posted in the wrong subforum. Sorry about that!

I had a lot of fun with this one, even if the difficulty curve was a bit uneven (the spike shaft... argh!). Reminded me of older classic KS levels, which is a good thing. I hope you'll make more levels XD It was great to see tiny little details sprinkled here and there, like the rain clouds. You had me completely taken in by that first rain cloud to appear, really - most people I think would've just settled with one type of cloud.

Excellent work and please make more  :)

I've added a few dozen screens since last time. It's frustrating to look for tilesets that fit my purposes, and equally frustrating to draw my own adjustments to people's tilesets... Pixel art is hard! But things are slowly progressing.

One thing I really wanted to do, but definitely won't be able to, is a shipyard full of giant ships. My idea was to use something like the attached picture to make a tileset which would allow for giant decks, huge sails, etc., and these would just be docked somewhere... or perhaps even sailing on some sea... Naive as I was, I thought I'd just enlarge, fill in the details, and hurray, it's done. It took me just 30 minutes or so to realize this is far, far beyond my capabilities. and I don't want to make the area with those overused pirate-themed tilesets (by I forget who). It's a real pity. But it hopefully makes for a nice cautionary tale?
I do think it is doable.  You'd have to flatten out the deck though and get rid of the guide wires, which might ruin the whole look for you of course.  The guide wires could be a second layer I suppose that could be stuck in for detail.

Eh, I'm just very bad at pixel art. Some small corrections and tileset merging I can do, but something this complex would require so much work, I'm fairly sure I don't have time for that sort of thing. And actually, right now I've edited that part of the world and I'm not sure if that giant ship area would even fit now.

Looks nice from the screens! Im Hoping I can try it soon, especially since i made the "hanseatic town" and "porcelain city" tilesets

Its a bit heartwarming actually to come back here and see that the tilesets i made years ago are still put to good use  :)
This forum always felt like a friendly place, glad to see that it is still a bit active.

Cheers!

Your tilesets are amazing. I just hope I managed to put at least a somewhat new spin on them, since so many people were using them over the years  :D

I actually found the challenge screens to be nice and refreshing. I just dashed through them adjusting my initial jump/entry in small ways and it took me maybe 5 or 6 tries at most for each.

I really liked how the huge chunky blocks coalesce into a beautiful, coherent landscape. It's a bit amazing to me because when I first saw the screenshot I didn't think the effect could be that impressive when travelling around the level.

Also, terrific secret boulder screen!

Actually, I don't know why, but didn't pay attention for the message in nifflas expansion tileset :/ I really don't know if I have the permission after thinking of your commentary, maybe I should update my level soon in order to redraw myself every items from nifflas expansion level...or do you think it is possible to PM nifflas to ask for permission?

Like I said, years have passed and it's totally possible this isn't an issue. I think we should wait for one of the moderators to comment (there are some people here who worked closely with Nifflas).

I hope I was clear, I can hardly speak english.. Sorry for confusing you, moreover, I left some unused tileset in my tileset folder, and there's even a locker template, I don't know why it is here

It's OK, your English is very good. Moi je peux seulement rêver d'avoir un niveau comme le tien, en français ;) Which reminds me, you've left one sign untranslated in the level, at x984y996 the game shows "Appuie sur la flèche du bas pour continuer" instead of the English version.

Last thing: Be sure to tell me when you'll finish your level, I can't wait to see how you will use my items in your level and play it  ;)

Of course! It's the large level under construction I've posted about here:

I'm still working on this, whenever time permits. It's a little frustrating because the level is expanding all the time. Most of the times I see the end of some area I think "well, there could be a passage here and another area right there...". And since I want most of my areas to be decently developed - unlike Gaia where a single screen would sometimes suffice - this means a lot more work.

At least this isn't a challenge level, so I don't have to plan that much.

Enjoyed this one a lot. A very solid first level and your pixel art is wonderful. I hope you'll make more! X)

I was wondering if I could ask you for permission to use your castle tileset(s) for a level I'm working on... But I noticed some of those were derived from Nifflas's restricted tilesets? It's a bit confusing since there are many tilesets in the level's folder. I think those were not meant to be used by anyone except him. Then again, it's been a long time since KS was released... so maybe the restrictions do not apply now? Hmm.

It's been a few years. I can't remember how many versions there were. I'm not sure if I even have the latest one(s). I'll play the Knytt Levels version sometime and I'll try to remember if there were changes

On cursory glance, I have the following four:

Dandelion - Frozen Forest
Goog - Kill Kitler (some version)
LB - WaterWorld
Pick Yer Poison - Darkness

I've uploaded these to knyttlevels.com. Might find more later.
upd: Yeah, found a few more, uploading.

I have missed this level when it first came out, and played the 1.5 version. It was a lot of fun! Backtracking got a little tedious towards the end, but I still enjoyed everything. Haven't seen that many Knytt references in a while. I loved the idea of the desert maze, too. It was a bit shocking to me that someone else found the earth tileset+grass tileset combination useful, since I thought I was the only one, in Corridors (http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=2832) and in Nightmare World (http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=5623.0). I just found the combination to be very beautiful, but didn't think anyone else would do so. Have you seen those levels, or did you come up with the idea yourself?

Bugs: I somehow fell into a void when falling to Pinewood Heights, but that may have been due to me moving around rather frantically. I also noticed a solid block in the tower in that area, which can be hit from below, resulting in a wallswim - granted, it's not that easy, but still very much possible.

A few bits of level design criticism:

It would be great to see another level from you. This one felt really good to play!
