Title: [Misc/Action]Da Amorphous+
Post by: Vinterrun on February 04, 2010, 10:08:44
Amorphous+ is a small action based game.
You`re controlling this small Dude with his huge sword, bashing over 16 different enemies called gloobes.
The game has different modes (and a bestiary... I love them!).
The nice thing about the game is that you have up to 101 achievements. Every time you get 10 achievements you earn a reward key, which unlocks new features.
The whole thing is getting unbelievable difficult with the time... yay.

The link leads me to an image. If that's the game, just one still frame, I demand a refund.

Meh.
The mouse just shouldn't be used to control the character in a game like this; that's what the arrow keys are for.
The guy is always turned in the direction he last walked, so you actually have to walk towards enemies to be able to hit them. That isn't really a good thing when going up against the faster enemies, especially since they instantly kill you on touch.

Also, the hitbox of the sword is much smaller than the sword.

I don't like it. As Razzorman said, controls are totally messed up.

Once you fixed your skills dealing with the mousecontrol it`s pretty easy to control your character.
I would prefer arrowkeysto but it`s okay anyways. Come on guys it`s like everygood game. as longer you are playing it, as better you`ll be.

I don't like mouse control either. It's a shame you don't have a keyboard control option

I love this game and have been playing it since about three years ago. I'm surprised you guys haven't found it yet.

And what's wrong with mouse control? Personally, I couldn't play this with a keyboard. <_<

So have I, actually.

I never had any problems with the mouse control either, although I think keyboard control would probably work fine.

The writing in this game is excellent.
The tips are useful, and I like how the ones shown depend on what enemies are unlocked and what item is equipped.  The enemy descriptions in the bestiary and the item descriptions in Rewards are well written and have a considerable degree of scientific accuracy, too.  And then there's the Achievement descriptions...:]

But I think the gameplay itself actually isn't that great.  After a while, I found myself just playing to see what the next achievement would say.  I mean, sure, it's fun, but there isn't much variety.  There's very little difference between the few modes that exist; except for practice mode, they are both endurance modes featuring a full assortment of enemies.  The only real difference is that Nest has an end, and that hardly makes a difference to me right now as I've never lasted long enough to beat it anyways.

The mouse control is okay, but games like this make it too easy to hit a link with a stray click outside the game.  Good thing Newgrounds has that "Dim lights" option.
