Played first 3 of these. Played em all. Wow...I'll never get that 20 mins back of my life  Shoud've listened and not done the last few :sigh:
Main thing, OMGT2 is broken. I looked in the editor and the question mark tile is one pixel above the shift. So, it's impossible to trigger thee shift the proper way. You can climb up the arm then wall swim across to the other side then jump to the next screen which is where the level really begins. But then you're stuck on the outside of it :p
But hey, for having only 2 hours, I am very impressed. I wouldn't have more than 3 screens C)p
I liked the music though. Remix of "Requiem for a Dream" isn't it?
Hey, I remember Snowflake! You posted about it on Glorious Trainwrecks about a year ago. Anyway, I liked it a lot, but it was really easy, once you got the timing down. I wouldn't normally talk about a level being too easy, but I wasn't sure if that was intentional. Also the level was so short, it cut off the song right as it was getting good. I think I spent at least a minute opening and closing the umbrella so I could hear the whole song.
OMGT3 was great, but I'm not sure if I "got" it. Something to do with the dangers of drugs? Anyway, I really enjoyed that as well. One question:
How did you pull off that sound effect at the very end?
Your comments about Snowflake reflect why I didn't initially finish or release it. It's pretty, but it's short and has no gameplay, which is something I was never able to resolve. If you're interested, you can find the song here (http://www.fodxm.co.uk/music.htm), or just listen to the one in the Ambiance folder if you don't mind hearing something that'd been double-transcoded.
The theme of drugs in the OMGT series persists solely because of your two-year old throwaway remark on IRC. I don't feel qualified to make any serious statements about drugs! As for your other remarks:
With OMGT3, I wanted to communicate the idea that Juni is living in a drug-fuelled fantasy land. The grey rooms represent the reality Juni sees when the drugs have worn off. I think I must have been subconsciously inspired by yohji's level Silver Lining (http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=5222.0), since that does almost the exact same thing, but communicates it better.
The generic quest set-up is meant to suggest that all Knytt Stories levels might just be Juni's drug-induced delusions. However, I never found time to emphasise this idea due to excessive time spent implementing that 'interactive' pill scene, which turned out to be a bit underwhelming anyway.
The ending sound effect is achieved simply by setting a brief Music file to play during the Ending cutscene in World.INI, then deleting the Ending folder.
Oh! Okay, I get it now. So, it's more a question of what's the nature of reality, eh? It's funny, but OMGT: Gaiden deals with this kind of thing, but from a completely different direction. (If that makes any sense.) By the way, does the screen at the far right of the level (the one you can't reach normally) have anything to do with what you originally planned?
Re: Snowflake: Yeah, there's not a whole lot of umbrella challenges you could do with the way you set the level up. I still really like it, though: it's kind of like one of those laserdisc games when you think about it.
Man, I wish Gaiden was larger, even if by a few screens only. I really loved the noise that starts at the eye screen. I wish there were areas to explore with the eye, for players who picked it up and explored further. Great job on how the final screen references the KS editor start template, too. Also, I don't know if Silver Lining does the drug/reality thing effectively, I thought at least the first grey area you've made for OMGT3 was absolutely terrific and scary.
I just added one more level to this thread: Juni Jones: Ace Attorney, my entry for PeppyHare4000's Bad Level Competition (http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=1992.msg57580#msg57580).
so beautiful...
I haven't looked at it through the editor yet, but I'm guessing you used some kind of custom object for the real world segment? Whichever way you did it, that was pretty great!
