NightSky / Having trouble downloading? [SOLVED]
« on: January 06, 2011, 20:22:09 »
For some reason when I try to download either the exe or the zip I experience problems. Firstly, the download is painfully slow, ~30kbps. Secondly, the download drops out at around 1/3 through. Other downloads from other sites run at full speed, so I can only assume it's a problem with the Nicalis site.

At any rate, I would like to play this game. ALOT.  :^^:

This is my adaptation of a traditional mongolian long song. Mandolin is real, accordion is sampled but heavily tweaked, and I'm the xhoomeizhi, or throat-singer. I recorded this as a practice really, but I think it came out pretty well.

Even if it's not your thing, I still appreciate your comment.

I've decided to release some of my tilesets to you guys - they're not fully done by any means, some are just barebones but they can all be used to construct full screens on their own. I'll let them out in a trickle, rather than all at once.

First up is the "Aqua Cavern" tileset, useful for multi-layered screens as it blends in well with some of the defaults.

...As you can see, I'm not one for "tileset efficiency". :P

Oh, and don't worry fans-of-that-level, I'm moving the concept, levels and that over to something bigger, which you should appreciate. Other than that I'm keeping quiet. :3

//THE ELeVATOR BENEaTH TTT:THe VALvE//

The air down here is of thickened, strangling mass. A gentle resonance gives way to almighty mechanic/bestial rumbling. Slowly, hymnal tones cascade through the walls amongst the crawling filth. "Humanity..." she thinks "is not far away."

This is a short little level, only 100 screens or so, an industrial horror-cum-platformer. I don't intend to make it jumpy, this is a slow build if anything.

I've composed 20 minutes of industrial ambient for this - It'll be best played with headphones. Overall, I hope it's a unique experience, at least. Expect this around late March.

Knytt Stories Level Previews / the people we never met: Take II.
« on: March 08, 2009, 20:01:07 »
Juni is an astral cartographer. She maps out parts of the universe that have not yet been explored. One day, whilst doing her job, the spacecraft gets pulled into the planet's geomagnetic field and crashes into the planet. Ever the optimistic one, however, she walks off into the desert to carry on with her job.

This level is going to be somewhat of a return to the original ideas of Knytt. No powerups, key collecting or anything else, it's a simple exploration game. Needless to say it will be 99% custom, with all creatures, tilesets, gradients, music and ambience being made by yours truly.

And to comply with the rules, here is a concept screenshot.

...Not exactly sure whether the guitar pick, 1 pence piece and piano about to fall on Juni's head will make it to the final release, however.
