Hi!
As the bottom of my website (http://nifflas.ni2.se/index.php) points out, I'm on the look for the book Pavan 5 by Elis Eriksson! The first one to locate a place where I can buy that book (except galleri lars bohman, they apparantly don't have it) gets a reward (by paypay or post, although I can not post money if you go for post)!
Can you find this?

Isn't it the top?

WANTED - I need Pavan 5 to get the final book of my collection of Elis Ernst Eriksson's genius books! I will give a reward to the first one who can find me this book, or a link to a website where I can successfully purchase it! Contact me! (please note that Galleri Lars Bohman does not actually have this book even though it's listed on the order page, I've already tried)
Reward? It's that important, huh? X) Well, I've never heard of the book, so I can't help. Sorry. :(

Try ebay
-
E-bay has nothing, and Googling the author and book name give two results. One is the Galleri Lars Bohman site, and the other is some sort of bibliography or something. So, yeah.

3, and one doesn't work.

Have you tried the sweedish google? (http://www.google.se/search?hl=sv&q=pavan+5&btnG=Google-s%C3%B6kning&meta=&aq=f&oq=) :D

I just did. (http://res://ieframe.dll/dnserror.htm)

lol! Google comes up with Nifflas' website, the bit at the top where he asks for the book.

I spent hours searching and found about 5 different bookstores (Including Invader dib's one) but they all have pavan 6-15 or something..not any of the books bellow number 6.
-
Is it an old book? Maybe they aren't made anymore and the people who do have them are hoarding them in secret libraries! :O
Or it could be a joke by the author to start off with a number that isn't 1.
I dunno anything about it though.
-
wikipedia say this person died only three years ago, when he was almost as old as a hundred. :O

The Pavan series where made around 2002 - 2006, before he died.

Pavan 5 was made sometime around 1970, which is almost 40 years ago.
-
Try finding as much you can about the author and maybe you'll find out how many copies of pavan 5 were printed.

Well, I found something, it is books 1-15. At Abe Books (http://www.abebooks.com/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=587474279&searchurl=an%3DElis%2BEriksson%26sts%3Dt%26x%3D55%26y%3D21)

Book Price:
US$ 275.00
Ouch
-
Swedish price: 2,207.12. Is that expensive? I don't know.
2207.12 SEK is very much. A book cost 50-100 SEK (6.06 - 12.12 USD) here in Sweden, so it should cost 750-1500 SEK (90.94 - 181.87 USD) for fifteen books. It's therefor rather overpriced :S

That, or it's a really good/popular/rare book or series. In this case, it seems its rarity is the cause of its price.

This page (http://www.minabibliotek.se/default.aspx?id=10725&refid=11070&itemid=270082) looks like it might have something; from what I can deduce (as I know no Swedish), they will have a copy by May 26.
Or maybe it's a library's page. I don't know. xD

And he works at the library :O

Maybe that's why he wants the book so bad : He screwed up and lost the library's copy, and he needs to buy a new one and pass it off as the old one before the 26th of May otherwise he'll lose his job...
Far-fetched, but it fits, right? lol

The plot thickens...
Ebay, tradera, huuto.net (finnish only) and such are the easiest options for any type of collector-on-demand action. Another way to look for it is at any possible flea market you bump into and antiquarians. I can go do a little search at a few places here in Helsinki that sell mainly foreign literature.
-
I already know about the abe books link, but thanks for suggesting it! It would be such a shame to buy it through abe books just to get the one I miss, when I have already paid quite a lot to actually get the other books.
The other link, to the Ume? library is particularily funny. Notice the Inne/?ter field and the date 2009-05-26, that's when the book will be back at the library. Since a week back, it have been borrowed by erm... me X)
I didn't lose it though, it's just that I can't keep books from libraries, and I really want this one! :)
-
Have you inquired the library staff about the possibility of purchasing the book from them?
-
Yeah :(
They have rules that you can not buy books from them.
-

What if... you DID "lose" the book upon borrowing it? You'd get a costy fine for losing the book but in the end you'd have the book in your collection and everybody would be happy, you with the book and the library with the money. :D

Well, the library still might not be happy. :O
I think a problem there is the fine. It might be a fine that Nifflas would rather not pay. Also it's kind of stealing, whether or not a fine is paid.
-
couldn't you ask where the library got it from?
-
Depending on how old the library is, it could have bought the book when it was brand-new, or, more likely, someone donated it (or willed it) to the library.
Also yeah if a library employee were to lose a library book permanently, they might not be a library employee anymore. 9_9
-
Get a friend to "lose" the book for you then! then you'll pay him whatever the library wants for the book. X-P
-
I just realised. If the library, through some weird coincidence, reads this thread, they might begin to have doubts about letting people check out Pavan 5.
-
Still, the Pavan collection will not actually be worth a lot if one book is from a library, and got the library stamps on it. I aim to get a proper collection of Elis work.

One solution would be to buy the collection from the site the offers the whole series, and sell the ones you already have on eBay or something... If you play it right, you'll have the whole collection and some money in the process... I'm sure some poor soul out there is searching for Pavan 1 to 4 or something...
