you won't get the prize for second place.
So uh, about that...

Those sure are some interesting results. I didn't expect first place, but i didn't expect it to be so close that the fact that mine was lower-effort is what ended up determining who won. (I hope that says more about my level than about Polana's...)

Granted. An animal you're allergic to now has its forelegs around your neck, and refuses to let go.

I wish for a metal pipe that always makes this exact sound when you drop it or hit something with it.

Petrichor is a level i started when i realized two things i've never done in KS - umbrella challenges and rainy areas - go together quite well thematically. It does various things i've rarely or never done, but those two are the ones it focuses on.

Much like in Gustav's Daughter, you explore a few small areas connected through a world map while gathering all of the powerups (except detector). Juni's goal this time around is to find a powerful artifact, hidden away somewhere it was long thought no one could ever hope to retrieve it.

This is a really good level. Well-designed, and the story's pretty intriguing.

I especially loved that big house. There was just something wonderful about discovering new areas there, and figuring out where every door lead to.

I also really appreciate all the minor details you added in, like that ball creature moving from one picture frame to another, or how you could faintly hear the gate in Duvall opening from inside the building.

Granted. In your living room, there's now a cool snap bracelet, and several dragons resting on top of it. They're very protective of it.

I wish KS would let you have vertical screens, i.e. 25 tiles high and 10 tiles wide.

I'm still kinda hoping other people have been working on levels for the contest, and are just holding off until the deadline so they have more time to perfect their entries.
...but getting all the prizes by default sounds kinda nice too.

I haven't really thought about that part. I guess just whatever time works for you is probably fine.

Petrichor

Challenge, intended to be Hard
Roughly halfway done
Looking for up to 3 testers, hoping to get at least one who has managed to beat a Very Hard or Lunatic level before, and one who hasn't

This is mainly gonna be about the challenges. I got a little creative with some of them, and i'm worried the level might end up completely unfair, more difficult than i meant for it to be, or both. Hopefully some of you could help me make sure they aren't.

Gustav's Planets (or Gustav's planets, i've been kinda inconsistent with caps) is an April Fools level, meant to look and feel like a poorly-made level by an inexperienced author. It's a fairly standard quest to get four keys, scattered across four different planets... or is it? Seems like the author has been neglecting that "test level" button, and none of the keys can be reached the intended way. But maybe you can put your KS knowledge to good use here, and find a different, not-so-intended way to get each key?

Despite being made as a joke for April Fools Day, this level was submitted as a proper entry to Gustav's Contest. At the time of writing, i happen to be working on a level that takes inspiration from Gustav's Daughter, but breaks several of the contest rules, and i figured i could still join in by making something like this.

Okay, i changed my mind and decided to make a level for this contest anyway.
Here it is. It's called Gustav's Planets.

This is my first time making a Knytt Stories level, but hopefully it'll still be fun to play. Maybe i'll even win this contest?

I'd participate if i weren't already making a Gustav-like that breaks half of these rules.

I'll still try to release it before the contest deadline and fit in a stalactite umbrella jump.

I wish the KS+ Templates.zip had templates for every usable CO, instead of just a few.
Looks like Christmas came earlier this year. Unfortunately, I have no corruptions for you, StraightFlame.
Enjoy the lack of silly side effects. :P
Yay!

Oh boy, just imagine how much fun you could have with that sign template.

I've always loved that low battery indicator sign in The Dying Core, and the thought of a template being readily available for that kind of shenanigans, not to mention whatever else is possible with it, is really exciting.
