Hi!
In this game, beta testing will work a bit differently from how it normally works. To explain the game itself, it's a platform game very inspired by Super Mario Bros 2 and Lyle in Cube Sector. You can apply for beta testing this game, and if you're accepted you get a copy for free.
There's one catch though, to apply you must be interested in the level editing aspect of the game. You basically apply by responding in this thread linking to a knytt stories level that you have created. I do this to pick testers who are familear with my earlier games and are capable of creating nice levels.
As soon as the beta testing begins, a level design competition will also begin (I'll announce the exact rules by then). After that, there'll be voting (every beta tester gets to vote in a poll) and the two authors of the levels with most votes get a T-Shirt (http://nifflas.ni2.se/?page=Sara+Sandberg)! I also require your permission to put together a third party level pack which may include your level, and release it on the website when the game is released.
Sure, one of the reasons is to really make sure the level editor is tested and works, but I won't lie though, this is also a strategic plan for me to use the beta testing to also have some third party levels out when the game itself is released. As it's directly after a game release it receives the most attention, it will look more attractive to register if there's third party levels available. Don't participate if you don't agree with this!
Note that the beta testing won't begin quite yet. I'm still finishing the new user friendly editor but after that everything should be pretty much ready.

I'm up for this. Definitely. :D
The fathers son (http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=2139.0) is the only one of my levels which can't be found in my sig.
-
Woo, would love this!
I've made quite a few levels, I think I'm most proud of Medius (http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=1168.0).
-
I'm not quite done with the level itself, but I like how it's turning out... Atlantis (http://knyttlevels.com/levels/Pumpkin%20-%20Atlantis.knytt.bin)
Hope you like it Niff! This is definitely something I'd love to do, I absolutely love KS, and I hope the editor is just as good, if not better than the one for Knytt Stories!
-
Oh man I'm totally in on this.
Capitalism! (http://knyttlevels.com/levels/googoogjoob%20-%20Capitalismv2.1.knytt.bin) is my best level.
-
I'd really like to beta-test, but my only level is crappy... Oh well, what can I lose? Maybe Nifflas likes subways too...
http://knyttlevels.com/levels/Yukabacera%20-%20Subway(upd).knytt.bin There you go. Die from the lack of story.

GENTLEMEN (http://knyttlevels.com/levels/well%20-%20fj%C3%A4ril.knytt.bin)

Has any other level thus explored the meaning of life? (http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=672.0)
If you want something more in line with the recent version of Knytt Stories in which shifts are much faster, I can send you the beta of a level I have via private message.
-
Sounds good to me. The Storm's Coming (http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=2577.0)
-
This one's a reposted old level, but I consider it one of my best:
The World Below (http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=3034.0)
-
Guess that means I can't do it. My first level was a complete load of crap. My second level, I feel, had a good design, but the graphics.. weren't very good. I have since made some nice levels, but they are all incomplete or I've been waiting for the archive to release them. :(
-
I'm in. This is a really tough choice for me, but I suppose Dark Sea is my best (http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=1231.0), or at least most liked, or at least most Let's Played. (Maybe I'll get brownie points for the AUA connection. Or maybe Nifflas will hate me for it. Who knows?)
-
Oh wow, I can't believe I'm posting. I haven't posted in forever; I hope this doesn't change anything.
Anyway, I'm totally up for this. I created a level a while ago called the forever-rain (http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=655.0); Now that I look back however, I see a ton of things that could have been fixed, but people liked it for some reason. Idk :/
It's interesting to hear you talk about a new editor, I thought you were done with that kinda thing. Really excited to try it out, whether I get to beta test it or not C)

So the person with best level wins beta-testing position?
Here is one of my levels: http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=2049.0
prolly my best level. idk, otherwise there si alot more in the link in my sig.
-
I would definitely like to beta-test.
My best level that I have posted is the Nifftown, but it was on the old forum so I cannot link to it.
Likewise with my other levels.

I would love to beta test.
Unfortunately my perfectionism and insistence on making all my own tilsesets has resulted in me never finishing my levels. The best work I've done that has been publicly released was the Forgotten Tower section of Paradise Last (http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=332.0), Johnny Chthonic's level. That section involved pretty complicated and intricate level design, and I also created the tilesets.
My only released level other than that was a tiny concept level from way back, called A Hike in Candy Valley (http://knyttlevels.com/levels/A%20M%20Smith%20-%20A%20Hike%20In%20Candy%20Valley.knytt.bin) (weak level design, but original tilesets.)
Oh, and I also made a level for Knytt Experiment called Trick-or-Treat (with original tileset and animations.)

Could you specify what a "nice level" is?
I have made quite a few levels, but only finished three of them. Must the level be finished to qualify?
None are particularly eye appealing, so if you must be able to make really good looking levels, I'm out. I can make pretty "okay" designs, though.
They are all focused on gameplay. The majority of them are just tests to see if an idea works, and could be developed. If by "nice levels" you mean clever design and original ideas, a little think outside the box, I guess I'm in.
There is only one level I really would consider a "normal"/"general" level, but it's my first one and have recieved much negative criticism, though I really like the challenges myself. I guess I designed the level for myself, with exactly the right difficulty and blah. But since other's generally didn't like it much I guess I shouldn't show that one. And maybe I shouldn't attempt to do more "normal" levels. But, that was a long time ago, just like the rest of them.
Or could I just give you a zip with all of them? If so, please keep in mind that many are just tests, unfinished and that stuff. I could do much better if I just had the motivation, which I think this beta tester position could give me.

Well, the idea is basically that you link to a single level of choice, there isn't any specific criteria apart from if I'll like it.

I kinda linked to all my levels, didn't I? :P
Still, The fathers son is probably the one I'm the most proud of.

I would love to help out testing your new game. I was mainly active here a few years ago and I created two knytt stories levels. The best one was probably Change the view! (http://knyttlevels.com/levels/Ble%20-%20Change%20the%20view%21.knytt.bin) It's ugly, but some might find some of the ideas interesting.
I also made speedruns of most of your levels, if that help in any way: http://www.youtube.com/user/olleble?feature=mhw5#p/c/817324FAA00D5E06

I would like to join up as well!
I love KS level editing, and pushing the borders of what we know
my personal favourite level is
Fear (http://nifflas.ni2.se/forum/index.php?topic=900.0)
Hope you like it!
EDIT:
Ok, Ok, sorry. Fixed

Okay, sorry about my previous post mentioning more than one level. Please disregard that post and consider this post my official beta application.
I've just released a standalone edition of The Forgotten Tower (http://knyttlevels.com/levels/A%20M%20Smith%20-%20The%20Forgotten%20Tower%20SE%20v1.1.knytt.bin), the section I made for Johnny Chthonic's level 'Paradise Last'. Please consider that my "single level of choice". :)

Well then. The Void Challenge is probably my favourite (at least gameplay wise), but I think you will like Knytt Shop (http://knyttlevels.com/levels/LimeLemon%20-%20Knytt%20Shop.knytt.bin) better. It's a little experiment I did back when the powerup adding/removing shifts were new.
-
Super Mario Bros. 2 meets Knytt? I'd love to beta test that!
My best (only) level is Cube. (http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=2352.0)
-
Ooh! Ooh! Me! Pick me!
It's a hard choice, but I think the level I'm most proud of is Outer Reaches (http://www.mediafire.com/?20j1tm5uyqi).
-
Well, this actually got me revisiting my old KS level and finishing it.
It's nothing special, though I got lotsa nice reactions back when I was active on the Forums. It's quite short, but I guess you might like it if ... I dunno?
Have fun anyways!

I would try to betatest the new game!
The Planet of Monsters and The Knytt World (http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=2425.0) is level which I like most.
-
Okey! Time is up for applications. I'll lock this topic. If you're accepted you should see a beta testing sub-board within two hours from me posting this (I still have to set it up).
