Can you use a controller for PC to control Knytt Stories?

Thank you for that, but please don't berate me for not thinking to use the word "gamepad" in my search, obviously I did do a search before posting, just not one with the word "gamepad," which, let's face it, isn't much of a word anyway.

'Wazzock,' - now there is a good word - or even 'Spanglebottom' perhaps that is the best word ever

You weren't in any way "berated", the reply you got was friendly and helpful so I'm not sure why you feel the need to be so defensive. It wouldn't hurt you to be polite when someone does you a favour instead of just telling you to search more thoroughly  <_<
