"Throwback" is a level made with some custom graphics, all custom music and no custom items or such as a throwback to the older KS levels me and many others used to, and sometimes do, make. Basically what I'm saying is: I'm a hipster, I'm old school and I'm super cool....yeah...

But whatever, *I* think it turned out rather well. I recommend playing this on Very Hard difficulty if you like torturing yourself.

Hello.

So there I was, having gotten a nice new computer. What shall I do now when my possibilities grow endless, now when my graphics card finally handles AAA-games properly? The answer is of course to make levels for my favourite 2D platform game.

Tentatively titled "Throwback", this work in progress harkens back to simpler times. Drawing inspiration from Nifflas' classic levels while adding a flavour of my own, working with self-made art assets mixed with the best ones this community has to offer (read: nice tilesets are nice) I hope to conjure an adventure of epic proportions. Traveling through a strange world to find power-ups to get to other places of the world and blaha-blaha, it's a well-established concept. And while it's always nice with "another" mid/high-quality KS level, I hope to accomplish more than that. I have finished making the first "dungeon", so to speak, and I believe it has turned out nicely, mainly because I focus on the mechanics of each jump or puzzle, then how to fit it into an asthetically pleasing enviroment. So far, so good. I haven't written ANY plot yet. I'll tack that on later. Hey, it worked for Portal, rrright?

The thing that makes this level very enjoyable for me as the author to work on is the inclusion of 3 different difficulties. While working on the Easy rooms I get the general outline for the "dungeons" and inspiration for the more difficult ..difficulties. For Hard and Very Hard, EVERY JUMP/PUZZLE is changed. Maybe just a little bit, but still. When I re-design the jumps for Very Hard I laugh like a madman each time. It might just end up Lunatic.

If you have played any of my old levels (The Room ov Death, Find Home & Tsymelia) you might have some clue of what's to come by now. An older, more mature (ha!) and out-of-work-living-with-his-parents-cuz-school-ended-a-couple-of-months-ago-and-i'm-too-exhausted-still-to-study Klämrisk making the level of his life! ...hopefully... Maybe it will not be as crazy as old my old work, though. Just maybe.

I have rambled for too long. Check out the screenies, say if you like it and send me a PM if you'd like to beta test anything. A second input of opinions is always nice.  :)

Knytt Stories Level Previews / [Epic Story] Hollowness (Tsymelia 2)

Hello again.

I recently (re-)discovered KS (or whatever, I've been busy...I choose the wrong line of study, it's too intense for me...gah) and I found this good ol' level I never finished.

So I dove into the depths of crazy-shifts-and-multiple-strikingly-similar-screens nightmare and organized it up, clean and tidy.
Now even I almost understand how everything hangs together on a thin string of bailing wire.

This story is obviously a continuation of Tsymelia 1, that in turn was a follow-up to tsymelia 0. (Links in my signature)
The storyline is a bit cliché for my taste so far (I started it 2 years ago...), so I think I'd better change a few more things as well as, of course, finishing the entire level.

The result will of course be great; I do not release manure unto people.  :nuts:

Why has the forum deleted posts from now to 24 hours ago? Even some of my edits have dissapered and thaere's no claim that there's ever been an edit.

I believe this to be a conspiracy. Enlighten me, please.

Here is my addition to the one-room-puzzle-level-competition.

It is a level where you have to use your mind. You have to think. A lot. I estimate it to take 20 minutes or so finishing it.

If you have been trying for 20 minutes and still haven't finished the level, here's a tip:

Saira / Turn off sound?

Inquiry:

It seems to me like there is no way to turn off the sound. And since I'd much rather listen to the latest Converge record than any form of game music, this seems a little annoying. Any way of fixing this or do I just seem like an old man complaining about his neighbours playing too loud?

Yes, I am in the making of another dark ambient album and I have a longing to have some form of fitting imageary to it. I don't care what form of art it is, as long as it is a still, watchable form of art. If you think you are up to the task with making some dark, disturbing art, send me a PM and I'll send you some sentences to philosophise over.

Note: Thou willst not recieve any sort of payment other that I'll send you an album when it is complete.

Here it is, the follow-up to the PROLOGUE and the first 'real' part of the Tsymelia series.

This level starts directly after the prologue ended, so you'll have to play the prologue to get what's going on.

The level will differ depending on the choices you make; if you act kindly, people will treat you such...and the other way around. You'll understand when you play the level, there was a LOT of shiftwork...

So, play it, but NOT without playing the prologue before.

Yo!

I hereby declare that work on the second/first part of the epic story of Tsymelia has begun and that I'm working extremely fast! I'll work a couple of hours a day on this until schoolstart (Monday), then maybe 1 hour a day or so, but it's going really fast!

The level continues directly after the prologue (Tsymelia 0), so if you want the conceptual background you'll have to play the prologue before this.

Juni has landed in a strange land after her world strangely turned upside down. She thinks that it might be the land of legends, Tsymelia. She sets out to explore. (without the concept introduced in the prologue the beginning will seem pretty unoriginal.)

In the beginning of the level, the order which you find the things will affect how the level continues. For example; you can help the kitten out of the tree or ignore it and this will affect what happens. (Just an example, no kittens in the level...)

I think it will be great, but I have no knowledge about warps so there'll be much copying and pasting and shifts, old school style  8)

Tsymelia 0 (Prologue)

...and the reason I'm posting this is because....I'm working on a sequel!!!
When the sequel is completed depends on how much time my little sister and her friend will sit by the 2 computers and play mindless games, being on dress-up-doll sites and chat with her friends 5 houses away.

The prologue is a short, very story-driven level that serves as an introduction to the 'Tsymelia' series. If you are going to play the sequel(s) to this, you have to play this first, since the sequel starts directly after the end of this one.

Well, download and play! I won't spoil the level by telling the story here, the level does it perfecly by itself.
