...inspired by Pumpkinbot's "The Mysterious Grotto." I'm planning for my level to eventually be that big...:D Yay, I inspired someone! Now I can die happy. [/life] Oh, wait. I need to finish my book. :/ [life]
You used that knytt tileset better then Nifflas himself IMO.It is really true.
Looks good! You used that knytt tileset better then Nifflas himself IMO.
I like the 1st screenie the most with it's dazzling layers and water.
I have a feeling that all the screens are as good as those three. I can't wait!
This level is very nice. You are using the tilesets very well. Thanks! I intend to finish this, especially with all this positive feedback! C)p
Backgound tiles are very good used to. It is looking a very nice level.
One thing, though. The third screen looks kinda bare. :/Yeah, especially next to the other three. I think I'll go back and see what I can do about that.
How many levels are out there??? If you think your idea is 100% original, chances are, you are wrong. Plus, he mentioned it first, before you did. So, if you tried calling him a copier, it would not work.i never said he was a copier, i just said he had a similar secrets idea...anyway, this is getting offtopic. sorry i brought it up.
It's better, but still looks just a little bare. I'm not sure what else you could add though.Well, at least it does look better. I might spruce it up a bit more before I'm done, if I can. :/
I personally don't like those windows there. I've used that tileset before, and I was thinking, maybe you could use the other color ground for houses?Heheh, take a close look at the background color. That's the other ground color! C) I kinda like the windows, though. I like to think they're made out of some heat-resistant material, so they don't melt or anything. :)
Hmmm Why don't you add more details to make the volcano screen look more like houses, like awnings or square windows with ledges? It may not be possible with the tileset you're using but it might be a nice touchHmm...that's not a bad idea. And fortunately, it's possible! I'm only using one tileset for the rest of the volcano. I might just do that.
Yes well.. wasn't there the other three times I checked. X)That was my doing...at first I had replaced it with the Sky Islands screenshot on page 2, but later I changed my mind and just decided to have all the screenshots up. Sorry about the confusion. :)
A village inside an active volcano? I smell a subplot. :OI will say nothing, except that I hadn't thought of that and now I am thinking of it. ;)
How about: a messed up, strange area, where one doubts one's senses? (I just want to play something really random...)I think that would kind of break the mood, actually. But have you ever heard of a level called "Don't Eat the Mushroom"? :)
I have, but... I want more!!! (maybe as a secret area?)Nope, sorry...I just don't have enough crazy in me to do a level like that. It would end up (at best) amounting to me just using strange tilesets in a semi-normal way. :/ Sorry!
...a forest. A big one.That's probably a yes! (can't believe I didn't think of that O_o)
"Outer Reaches"... hmmmm.. how about seaside?Say...that's a good idea too! I do need an endpoint for the level, after all. :)
How about: a messed up, strange area, where one doubts one's senses? (I just want to play something really random...)I wanted something like that in TMG. :P Like a really trippy maze. :) I second this motion.
Sorry, but I'm still gonna have to say no to this. This level is pretty much strictly environmental X). But that's not to say that I won't be making anything after this is done, so who knows? :shifty:How about: a messed up, strange area, where one doubts one's senses? The fourth screen its so ...dark and creepy, love areas like that!Personally, it's one of my favorite areas so far too. C)
Hey! New screen again, people! Per OSad's request, behold...a forest! Unfortunately, it just seems to be missing something. I'm not quite sure what, though. :/ Any ideas?Denser foliage
Denser foliageHmmm...how's this look? Unfortunately, it's about as dense as I can manage. I'm using two tilesets in this forest, and each one is necessary. X)
You seem to have captured the essence of a dark, damp forest perfectly, so i suggest you add in some mushrooms, complete with a little pound close to that hole.Mushrooms I think I can manage, but...what do you mean by "pound"?

As a side note, I still haven't found any good music for the secret areas. If anyone can suggest something, that would be great! (if possible, I'd like it to have the same mood as this piece of music (http://niffpage.greywool.com/files/Music/GameOST/wadf/Doragon%20-%20Padding%20About%20variation%202.mp3), but I'll settle for something else if I end up having to)
Seems to be missing... flowers, or something, and knytt and fluff.Ahah! I think that's it! I need some flowers (and some mushrooms, like OSad said :P2). OK, this is gonna take some custom objects, because I've already filled up layers 0-2 and I'm using both tileset slots. X)
XD by 'pound' he means pond, its like a little lakeOops...wow, I can't believe I didn't manage to see that! X) Well, there is a pond (actualy it's more of a small lake :shifty:), but it's underground. Expect rain further on, though!
Hmmm...Look at the forest area of The Terrain Deviates, a level I made. I used two different layers of background trees. It's hard to explain. Once you see it, you'll know what I mean. :PYeah...I know what you mean now. Sadly, I think that that's a different type of forest than the one I want. I'm going for "deep forest", and the one in The Terrain Deviates seems to be more of the "thin forest" variety. :/ I did get a couple of ideas, though! :)
In the second screenshot in the first post (Blue lands) do those blue trees move? Or are they still images? No, unfortunately they don't move. However, it would be great if I could use that CO! :D (I'll be sure to credit you)
Because I made a custom object of them in one of my levels and I used the same animation from the original trees. I can send you the CO if you want.
Final area is done! XD Now I'm just waiting for wako-kun's reply and Dynamites' CO!I don't think I've ever seen that tileset in a level besides Afar.
One small criticism - although it's probably too late, as this level is finished or near-finished; but maybe it will be helpful in future levels: I think you have a tendency to space things a bit too evenly. The trees in the forest, the huts on the beach, etc.Yeah, you're right about that. My trees do seem spaced a bit too far (you can blame the tileset I used with its small tree trunks and 3x3 tree tops for that much). As for the huts, they were technically built by people, so I'd think they would be spaced somewhat evenly. But thanks for the advice! It's appreciated. :)
Nice, I like the use of original knytt tilesets. XDThanks! :D
I'm pretty sure that's not default KS tilesets. I even recognize those pillars from one of Pip's tilesets.Actually, a lot of this level was made using the default tilesets! But you are right about Pip's tileset (specifically, his "Girders" tileset).
This level is really looking good. That thing about the trees is true, though. Can't you work arround that using different layers? The main problem was actually with the layers, ironically enough. X-P The background trees were in layer 0, the upper treetops were in layer 1, and anything that crossed them had to be in layer 2. Fortunately, with a little creative thinking (read "difficulty"), I think I've succeeded in making them a bit more scattered.
Ah, a lot better. ;)(http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/69a6198a22.gif) Whew, looks like I got it right this time.
The new forest looks very natural. Is that a little custom creature on the right? C)pThanks! And yes, it is! It's also not the only one, either. :shifty:
I'm so sorry T_TAwesome! Thanks! C) Boy, what are the odds of this happening? X-P
I haven't been on the forum since [long time ago]
I don't know if it's too late, but It's okay to modify how you want.
I never really thought anyone would use that set, so I haven't consederd this situation at all :P2
Stickman? You probably should've PM'd him, or at least put that in spoilers. :/I sent him a PM with roughly the same message soon after he posted, so I think that problem's solved. :P
Do you have any original music for the level?Yes, unless by original you mean I made it. Also, thanks!
Which reminds me. Do you have permission to use this music? Anyway, I like the music, but, like I said in the PM, use either all custom music or all default music.Do you have any original music for the level?Yes, unless by original you mean I made it. Also, thanks!
if it ain't broke, don't fix it. ;)
