Hard mode was manageable for me. The jump to the long-jump powerup was probably the most difficult part, and I ended up piecing together that I could wall jump off the side for extra distance, use my umbrella when falling, put away umbrella to double jump, and use umbrella when falling, to successfully make the jump. May be unnecessary but it worked! Also, after struggling a lot at the end, I had to remind myself that you can hold jump to ascend airstreams faster with the umbrella. It was a good length, the layout was memorable, and there were a bunch of interesting platforming/puzzles I hadn't seen before. The secret areas were well hidden, and the bouncy one was awesome! The music fit a monochrome challenge tower perfectly. Liked the little story segments too. Good level

I feel like this is the culmination of years of secret KS history. Level is a perfect length to be substantial, difficulty is hard but rewarding, really nailed it there for my tastes. Though, I did die an embarrassingly large amount of times at x995y1000 jumping on to the waterfall blocks, by reflex... over and over... The tile usage and edits are indistinguishable in quality from the original level, and the custom music tracks are great additions. Clearly you did the original level justice!

AND... x996y1002, you LOVE to see it.  <3 <3 <3

Definitely used some, ahem, extra save points towards the end. I found the slower pace fitting and the ending satisfyingly anticlimactic for a level titled Depression Quest. The neat rain-outside-window and waterfall-around-corner details were refreshing to see. There is some bravery that goes into creating a profound or intimate story, so a lot of respect goes to those who put their feelings into their projects, intended to be found or not. Good job on this level ncrecc.

That was great! I don't consider myself a Knytt Stories expert by any means, so I was pleasantly surprised I successfully made it to the end. Some puzzles I would think it over for a minute, go "no way this is the answer.", and then it worked!
To me, it was clear the code section was a math puzzle, but it wasn't immediately obvious what I was solving for (there were 4 symbols, for 3 buttons, not sure which symbol goes in what order?), so I might have gotten a hint... but I did end up solving it, and given more time, probably could have done it without a hint.
Good level!

Knytt Stories - Custom Content / Modular Desert Tileset
« on: May 23, 2018, 06:18:42 »
A desert-like tileset I put together, but with tons of "modular" elements, whatever that means. The tree part is totally inspired from BanderAnder's post here. It comes with 17 cactus tiles and 53 tree/canopy tiles to allow you to make any amount of unique cactuses and trees. As well as shading tiles and a few background tiles.

A lot of the tiles look a bit plain, and there are few background tiles and unique ground tiles, so a secondary tileset/some edits may be needed to get the most out of it. But it's a fun little tileset inspired by desert plants (my favorite kind of plants!) finished in only a few hours. Use it, edit it, do whatever you want with it!

Granted. But the first time you put them on, it fuse to your face The Mask style.

I wish I had $1,000,000$ dollars USD.

@pfrangip Thank you! I had fun the entire time I was working on this level, and it's still my favorite one I've made. Thanks for playing!

I enjoyed all 3 of these very much, more than some "traditionally constructed" levels. I still don't know what you did to the overlay on the first one  :crazy:

Granted. Unfortunately, nobody has a computer in the year 1423.

I wish I could turn invisible.

And to think back in April I thought I had no time to start a level... With 4 months to go, I might be a (REALLY) late entrant!  8D

Knytt Stories Level Releases / Re: DLFoTD [KS+] [Easy/Misc/Small]

I'm very glad so many people enjoyed my level! Thank you to everyone who played and thanks to everyone who gave a stellar review :D

@Vegetal Gibber
I developed this level mostly at night, meaning I never intended for it to be that dark! I'll be sure to fix that in v2... whenever that comes out  ;)

(edit: jul 26, v2 is out)

Looking forward to playing this once it's released. You know what they say, when life gives you lemons... make a Knytt Stories level out of it.

No, thankfully.
Have you ever broken a bone?

@ego
I'm surprised you noticed the painting! And I'm glad my level had it's intended effect. I didn't know if I could possibly convey the effect of self-reflection I wanted the level to have on the player, instead of it just being confusing and weird.

@B-Man
Because this level is so tiny I wanted to pack as many Easter eggs as I could! Glad you liked the
Spoiler: (click to show/hide)
I'm also glad you found only ONE typo (which I have since fixed). The beta version was rife with them!

@canteven
At least half of it worked! The beta version actually had hints that let the player know they were going somewhere (off color tiles in the wall, empty signs, at one point there were enemies) but I removed it because it didn't seem amateurish enough. I did fix in the latest version that I will upload soon!
