I've decided to make the first post in this forum. Its a repost from the old forum with my most popular level. I didn't posted it because I want feedback or anything... Just so this forum isn't empty anymore.
Story:
Juni goes visiting her uncle. Her uncle just finished creating his latest invention. While this invention hasn't been tested, Juni accidentally uses the machine, and gets trapped in a strange world. By means of exploring, its her job to get back.
Gameplay information:
When we played Knytt, it were the secrets that made the game interesting.
So I was thinking... What would happen if you have a level full of secrets... No... What would happen if you have a level where you must find secret, after secret, after secret... :)
With this idea, The Explore Challenge was born.
The main question is: How well can you find the secret walls? Some will be in very obvious places, and some will be in the most unexpected places.
You're warned though, I did a small puzzle/challenge from time to time to make it more fun to play the level. You won't find enemies in this level, which means that you can play it at any speed.
Can you spot the hidden place just by looking where it could be? Can you think outside the box? If those are a yes, this level certainly will entertain you!

Copy/paste the following into notepad to read:
Jump over the buttons so you get on the left side. Walk right for the hitting x amounts of buttons, where the x is the 1st number in the sequence. then walk left x amount of buttons, where x is the 2nd number in the sequence.
Go left, right, left ,right etc until you complete the first sequence. You should end up on the right next to the buttons.
Jump over the buttons again to repeat the process for the 2nd series. If done correctly, you'll open the door.
At first, I didn't want to reveal this one, but now that it has been a while ago since the level came out, here's the entire solution.
The challenge is build out of 5 smaller challenges.
1. Finding the cave
The first challenge would be to find the cave itself. I actually marked the screen the cave is on by adding a diamond made out of 4 colours, as sort of background image. In the game, there's this big room where you must jump down, get over a laser and lateron when having the eye, you must get up again. On the top left before you jump down, you'll notice the diamond on the right. In the corridor towards this big room, there's a secondairy room that you'll have to jump into. Once you found it, a note will tell you that you made it.
2. Timing part 1.
The cave consists out of 4 challenges, of which 2 are timing skills. At first, it may seem hard, but stay calm and time when you have to jump. I can easilly jump from block to block while the lasers do their thing, but if you really have some difficulty, then you can use the following trick: jump when the laser is out, move to the right edge of that block and wait for the laser to come on. You can stand on that block with the laser on if you're far enough to the edge. At the end jump, you can jump against the wall and stick there if you find that necessary. The same technique can be used to cross back.
3. Timing part 2
The level starts with a series of jumps. While the laser is out, you can stand on that part. Timing is essential like in the previous part, but in this stage, you cannot cheat. Luckelly, the area isn't as big as the previous one. Practice and stay calm. When coming up, first jump over the laser and wait at the second laser. You'll have to time your movement to the moving laser and the other laser so you can get past. Notice that there's a small gap on the place where it doesn't spray. That'll be your safety zone. Time your jump and you should be able to get all the way up there without much problem.
4. The black screen
From the top, jump to the right until you are walking on the cloud. Jump to the higher part. Try and feel where it ends and exactly at the end jump up right. The passage is a bit tricky but you'll find it, once you know where to look for.
5. The yellow maze
As you might read further in this topic, there's a map located for the yellow maze. Basically some parts of the grid will kill you while others will not. It might seem to be a tedious task figuring out which will and which won't kill you. Thats where the map comes into play.
The map can be found after jumping down in the big room (past the horizontal red lazer) then through the 2 lasers door. the next room has this big coloured image on the top. You might recognise it now. Yes, this is your map. It shows you a path that has a dead end. This should tell you that there's no point in going through that route. Finding the path on your own will also tell you that its the wrong way. You can get back though, cus some of the yellow borders are only deadly on the side so you can still partially jump on them.
How to solve this? Its very tricky actually. Before you are about to warp to the yellow room from the previous challenge, don't. Instead, walk through the secret room on the right. This will bring you to the left side of the yellow maze. Use the map to jump to the transporter on the left and use it.
The next room doesn't has a challenge. Walk to the statue and let it tell you the cheatcode. You can die though if you jump ahead of the teleporter. There's nothing there other than your way back into the level.
Whoo, I finally beat the level without constantly cheating!
(I cheated most of the time, but not all. :P)
The irony here is that I actually got through the extra-hard challenge and got to the secret room without cheating. XD
Well done. :) It feels much more rewarding if you can beat it without cheating, doesn't it? :)
When I first played this game, I got stuck in the room with the secret passage. (I thought that it was an impossible jump.) So, I checked the editor and found the other way out. I went back in the game, thinking that it was the right way to go, not a secret. After a little while, I beat it, and ended up in the room with the statue. I read what it had to say, but I didn't know what it meant. X) Of course, this room was a dead end. I jumped in the transporter and found my self back in the cloud room. So then, I'm like, "What? No!" So, I kill myself and end up back in the secret room. Took me a few days to realize that was a secret, and I should have gone the other way. Oh well.
I can see that people like this level. Everyone but me gave it a positve reveiw. I just isn't my kind of thing. I din't know about warps and stuff when I played this, so it seemed like a dead end to me.
Well, I don't mind that you don't like it. Its always the case that whatever you make, there always will be someone that doesn't like it. I can't satisfy everyone. I don't want to satisfy everyone either for that very same reason. If you like it, I'm thrilled, if you don't I can't force you to play the level. Yes, you can just edit the level to find the cheatcode. I don't mind about that either.
And oh, there aren't warps.
After you get the eye, you have to get back to the start. A ghost path is reveiled there that takes you to the next part. Some of the screens you go back go have been altered to make them more challenging (by blocking certain routes).
If I recall correctly... Look elsewhere for another exit from that screen. The more obvious secret path is a dead end.
Just because a secret passage led you to a room doesn't mean the solution is in that room.
I just started this again today, and although I think I managed to get farther than last time, I've gotten stumped at two places...
The third room (with the hint "If the path seems to lead to nowhere, maybe it's not the right path") of the secret cave that you can reach by climbing up before the snow-covered walls.
And the code room after those sets of seven vertical columns where you have to go down the correct one, and at the last one there's a fake wall to the left.
Are those really dead ends, or am I doing it wrong?
