Thank you for the feedback, people!
The futuristic blade runner feel was what I was going for, I'm glad the environment and the CO's have been met with positivity, I put alot of time into it and getting the right feel of the world, even though the level did turn out quite short. I've got some ideas for a possible sequel, but nothing that's certain as of yet.

The more action based take on my level might not be for everyone, I get that, and I like a nice calm environmental or a typical puzzle/adventure level as much as the next knytt player.
However, this was more of a test to create something new, and to take knytt stories in a different kind of direction, with the "violence" and the ability to fight back, so to speak :).

The year is 2070. Juni is working as a detective at the local police department of the neon soaked metropolis she currently resides in. Gunshots and sirens in the night. The streets are being terrorized by violence and illegal substances.
Can you help clean up the streets?
It's 3:30 AM.
The phone rings.

Work is going slow... really slow.
But I'm happy to see the support from you guys!
Just letting you know, it's NOT dead!
Not yet...

I'm still working on it, now and then!
But I'm sad to say, I'm not sure wether this will ever see the light of day or not..
That's usually what happens with my levels, I can never seem to finish projects. And like I mentioned in an earlier post; with all the custom stuff in this level there's so much work.
But hey, there is still hope!

Okay no not really, but still.  What I found extremely enraging with this level is that, even if I held right to get past the first three chomps, there was no guarantee that I would get past all of them.  The whole element of randomness made this just impossible for me.
Hold right for the first three and then hit a and stop right before the fourth one. That's how I did it. Got past the first one 50% of the time, the other two after that 99% of the time.

Yeah, that sounds like a pretty good strategy right there, PP ;)

I just finished playing this, and i thought it was ... pretty cool :P The tilesets were really neat, allthough i did get pretty surprised when the tripping began

But all in all, a cool and fun level :P nice.

Hehe, well, thank you! :D I did work hard on that tileset ;) I'm glad you liked it :D

Haha! I was expecting these kind of comments  X-P

Yeah, that was unexpected. Now I see why there is only one screenshot. I played it like 5 times already. Now I'm going to have my friend play it and see what she says.

You played it 5 times? haha! I didn't think people would be able to stand it much more than once ;) but hey, I guess you liked it! :P I'd love to hear what your friend thought of it ;)

Ooh, looks impressing. I'm gonna go play it right now.

Edit: I won, but then it just looped back to the start again.

haha, yeah that was the point. It was supposed to be a little ... trippy ;)

I just want to say, I hate you forever.

I sure hope that you don't hate me forever.  X) and yes, it does get pretty hard. Maybe you should try a different approach though, quickly run under the chomp and then back, making it fall to the ground. and keep on doing that with all the way. Or just do what you did and hope that you make it ;)

OUCH! You should've specified that what looks like a playful homage to DEtM is actually a Very Hard level that just doesn't end

Haha, that would just ruin the surprise ;)!

Wow. Thats screenie looks amazing. I'm going to play it right now.

EDIT: Ok, at first, cool. Then its just... WHAT HAVE YOU DoNE TO MY EYES?????

Haha! Didn't see that coming, did ya? ;) Yeah, it wasn't really any huge serious project. ( allthough it did take alot of time to make :P ) Kinda inspired by "Don't eat the mushroom" I guess.
This map was more like a .. "while we are waiting for the bigger levels to be released" kind of thing ;)
Im glad you enjoyed some of it atleast :)

Hey! Since there's not many levels being released here on the forum at the time, I thought I'd throw something together and put up, just for the heck of it. :)
So here's a very small level I made called "Psychadelica" - Tilesets and Custom Objects all made by me.

Download it. Try it. Comment if you like. ;)

Woah, this looks so awesome. I love the fractured 3D look. I'll be looking forward to this - also, it's great to see you working on stuff, I still fondly remember Aria of Radiation.

Thank you. appreciate it! :) And I'm glad to hear that you like my other still on going project "AoR". But I'm having issues deciding which project to focus on, which naturally causes delay on both levels. But I'm going to try to make up my mind, and see if I can finish atleast one of these before I end up losing interest again. ( I tend to do that with things that take lots of time, especially when it comes to drawing/designing my own tilesets and custom objects, which I have never done before, allthough I must say I'm very satisfied with what I've got so far. )

As for now, I'm still going strong with both levels. Let's just hope it stays that way, since I would love for both levels to be 100 % ready, and released. but I've been doing most work during my summer spare time, which is soon coming to an end, and thus sadly leaving me with next to no time at all to spend on making knytt levels.
And that will ofcourse cause the work on my levels to slow down even more, if not come to a complete stop.
But hey, who knows what the future will bring. :)

Looks brilliant! Shame the plot sounds a bit lame, but looks very good.

Thank you very much, I've put alot of time into the tilesets, so hopefully it will pay off.
And hey, don't judge the plot until you've actually had a chance to experience it ;)

Nice to see a new map with custom content. You might wanna work some more on those buildings. There could be some more detail. Like make a brick pattern or anything.

Well, I appreciate the idea, but I don't think it would fit in with the overall look and feel, if I added a brick pattern,
I think it would be very hard on the eyes since there's already alot of details in the background. So I'll stick with the way the houses looks for now.
And yeah, it's my first custom map, with custom tilesets and custom objects also.

I think the contrast between the places that have some sort of pattern and those that are just plain works well. It's a rather French/Belgian comic book, ligne claire kind of look. I like it.

I'm not sure the weird 3-D with several different perspectives per screen works entirely, for me. However, even so, this looks amazing, and I am now looking forward to it immensely.

Thank you, Hmpf. You always give good critique, it helps alot. And since I loved your attention to detail in "Falling water - part 1"
I must say I'm honored to get those warming words from you, since I really like your work :)
I'm glad you're looking forward to it, knowing that someone likes what you are doing usually keeps you going. so again, thank you very much. And I know that some houses might look a little wierd with some being 3D and some not and all that. but as I mentioned in the description, that's just my style, And if you give it a shot, I think you'll learn to like it ;)

Knytt Stories Level Previews / St. Sundholm
« on: August 05, 2010, 15:26:03 »
My newest project.
A very early look, everything is still under process. No category decided yet, still working on the main plot.

I don't know if the screens are too cluttered, but that's just my style.
Custom tilesets by me, also a few tiles borrowed/remade from other tilesets, which will be listed in the credits.

Name might change, but going with "St. Sundholm" for now.

Basically what happens is that our protagonist "Juni" accidentally travels to the mysterious "St. Sundholm" through a strange machine,
where she will face various puzzles and challenges in order to escape. This is all I'll reveal for now.

Have a look:

Okay.. all I've got to say is.. wow. that was hard. really hard.
No, but really:
I couldn't even get past the second screen, and I thought I was pretty good at that kind of stuff..
holy %"@# was I wrong.
I can't say I'm a big fan of these kind of levels :P I mean, screen after screen with INSANE challenges, no music,
basically no breathing room at all. ( I mean maybe you could have put SOMETHING in between the challanges, some nice enviromental screens, or something a little LESS challenging, instead of just another screen just as hard as the last one :P, ) but then again, that's just me, and I only made it to the second screen, allthough I did give it a peek in the level editor, and all I saw was even more challanges, but I guess that's pretty much what this level was about, heh. :P
I guess I just don't like these kind of levels, where I dont feel you get a sense of accomplishment when you beat one screen, seeing that you just end up in another equally, or perhaps even more challenging as the last one.
well well, I can't say I enjoyed this level that much after the first 50 tries or so :P
I'm just giving my opinion :) But good luck and so on :D

Are you going to continue this? :D I'm really hooked on it. i sure hope you do.

Well, I've slowly started to begin building this project again. but I've gotta say it's going slow.
I'm thinking of starting a new level that I've been planning for quite a while, and then get back to this one.
I guess you have to wait and see :P but I honestly hope I find interest for it again, because I was so excited when I first started.
Not sure if I'll get there again. :(

15
Uh, the maker posted that he wasn't going to continue.
If he's decided today that he was not going to, he probably won't change his mind today... Either way, if he will, it'd be good. We need more people in the forums....

Ehm.. what? :P
