Really late reply, but wow, this is fantastic, Talps!

I recently began feeling nostalgic and started looking around the old forums here. Glad I did! Loved the story and atmosphere, even with (mostly) standard KS music.

Kinda makes me want to get back into making KS levels, but...ah, this place seems pretty dead unfortunately. I might, I might not, I dunno.

Still, glad to see stuff like this. :)

Knytt Stories - Custom Content / Re: Urban Tilesets?

There's this one I made, though it's only really rooftops.

The enemies are on layer 7 with Overlay active. Overlay puts layer 2 between layers 6 and 7, but it also makes layer 7 stop interacting with the other layers. You'll see the fish and bird blockers surrounding them because they ignore the walls on layer 3. Another key point to note is Shift A will supersede Shift B when they are stacked, but only if the player has enough coins. I use this to decide whether to add damage or to kill.
Oh, I see. :v That's pretty clever! So it's simply "Onoes, a (completely cosmetic) baddie! Got hit? Here, have a coin! Got three coins? Then I'm spawning a kill tile, go die pls."

I've developed a much better system already, one that doesn't rely on falling. It's so close to what I think Salmoneous is after, I don't want to release it without his consent. I'd hate to spoil his level before it's even made.
Ooh, I might have to check that out. c: Salmoneous has some pretty nifty levels.

Ooh, this is a neat idea! I'm looking through it in KS+ now, and I can't seem to get how it works. How am I not dying when I touch the enemy?

watch out pumpkinbot the police are coming take down your tilesets

edit:
very nice are these for i dont even I want to see screenshots.
Hide yo tilesets, hide yo custom objects, and hide yo KS+ fonts...
And no, I didn't make any of these for I Don't Even, they were (mostly) all made for various half-baked ideas for a more story-driven level.

And I could put up a screenshot of these tilesets one day. Maybe. I'd like to, but don't hold your breath. :P

I really like that tiny house in the last tileset. It's a pity it isn't finished.
Thanks! I might come back to that and make a junkyard/Hooverville tileset one day, but, again, don't hold your breath.

Not sure what to say about it, other than I'm working on an environmental level in the vein of The Mysterious Grotto, but with less of a plot than TMG and more of me doing whatever the heck I feel like without listening to people complain about there being no "win" tile and no story and asfajshshajksasa

The name isn't...really a name. I just tend to type in a random bunch of words when making a level, start doodling around, and eventually it becomes a level. So as of right now, the folder is called "I Don't Even". Other titles I have include "Garf", "Escape from Buttland", and "WILL YOU WORK FOR ME NOW".

I've also got a beta up and running. If you want to actually test it for glitches, voids, and the like and not just get access to half of a level early, post that you want to beta test. I'm probably only gonna choose a few people, too, so first come, first serve.

There's some really nice stuff here Pumpkinbot. Knytt's Edge looks professional. Some pieces in Aperture are superb. It's too bad you're not making anything with them.
Ooh, thanks! ^-^
And I'm -trying- to make something, which is what most of these came from, but I only get a few screens in before giving up. .-. I might be aiming too high, and too ambitiously, but I -want- to make something that ambitious. >.<

So, yeah. I've kinda been half-making a ton of tilesets before giving up halfway through. Some of them are nearly finished, and others are just a dozen or so tiles. I may come back to these in the future and add on to them, but don't hold your breath. Feel free to consolidate and edit these as you see fit, just make sure to slap my name on it, too.

UPDATE 3/25: Added a ton of stuff to the overworld tileset. It's now in the Mostly Finished category.
UPDARE 3/26: Noticed a few things off with the overworld tileset. Also removed the pointed edges for the path and added vertical-ish paths. Also added an example for the tileset.

I'm not the only one that thought of Doctor Who when I read "petrichor", am I? ;) For the girl who's tired of waiting?

Anyway, I actually really do like the colors. It's bright, vibrant, and abstract, but the colors still manage to be pleasing enough to the eye. I'm gonna keep an eye on this!

I actually think both the ground blocks and the bridge look pretty great! What's the black stuff supposed to be?
Background bricks! I can throw up an example screenshot, if you want.

EDIT: Uploaded an example screenshot!
EDIT AGAIN: Oh, something I should probably mention, the palette I'm using is in the upper-left corner of the blank box. And, uhm...ignore that white square, dunno what happened there, heh.

I...really ran out of creativity halfway on this one. :v It's supposed to be an homage to Zelda II, the abused and neglected stepchild of the Zelda franchise (not saying I ever played it, myself) but with the typical Knytt Stories feel.

Suggestions? I've been wrestling with the idea of giving the ground a solid black (or near-black) outline, rather than the shaded outline, as much as I do like the way it looks. I'd just hate for the tileset to clash with other tilesets, when it's used in an actual level. :T I've always hated it when in a level, I go from a generic, Knytt-esque looking tileset to something suddenly hyperrealistic, with thousands of colors.

Another thing I've been thinking of is changing the bridge. I wanted to make it look like the bridges in Zelda II, but I think a flatter bridge might look better.

12
Nice one! It ended too soon.
Ah, well...maybe I'll make a sequel eventually, heh.

I really liked this level. It was a perfect combination of relatively easy, pattern-based challenges and had no really irritating jumps. I applaud!

If you add music, might I suggest "Spiegel im spiegel"? It's exactly right for the level (if a little long).
Mmm, a bit too peaceful for what I had in mind. :P Originally, I was going to use something I found on Newgrounds called "Attack of the Joystick", and I would've used it, but...I didn't have permission to, and I don't know where it's at anymore. v.v But if I were to add music, I think I'd stick with some chiptune like Attack of the Joystick. :P

Thanks for making this. It got me inspired to use some "unconventional" tilesets in a future potential level. Kudos!  :^^:
Aw, thanks! :3 Making this actually did kind of make me realize that there's some really good default tilesets that just...don't get used. *shrug*

14
Alright, gonna bump this to say that I've added the updated version to the OP! All those bugs? Gone. Enjoy!

This level made me realize just how much I didn't understand and was limited by my own narrow thinking when using a lot of the default tilesets. It's both humbling and enlightening at the same time, like a wiser person solving a puzzle for you.
Oh, my! Well, thank you! That's probably the biggest praise I've ever gotten, heh...It's humbling to hear that something I've done is humbling. ;)
