Knytt Underground / Re: Knytt Underground is out!
« on: December 31, 2012, 01:05:29 »
Finished the game and enjoyed it very much. The game world is great, It's like a window of light and sound hovering in vacuum. The Mi/Ball combos are very fun to perform. Music is some of the best and most atmospheric in video games. Story and dialogue were very good too and made me chuckle or think about things quite a few time.

I hope the Steam voting does well. Someone should make an official KU topic in neogaf and get people to vote.

No I uploaded it, my name was last on that list you posted. I tried the demo now, it plays even better than it sounds and looks :). Your best game yet for sure.

Congrats on the release, this looks (and sounds) really good, great job Nifflas. I send a photo a while back, any chance I could get a free copy? I'm not making any demands because it's just a photo.

Wow that looks great, much much better in motion than in stills. Photos blend very nicely and the colors are smooth.

Btw the footage can be seen around the 6th minute.

Maybe she could have made a personal bet of some kind. Eg a promise to a dieing family member that she must stay strong and never give up. That could make her come across as a driven brave young woman and not just plain naive. The oath could also be a place she always wanted to visit as a child, or a famous woman explorer she admired and wanted to be like, or maybe an oath to solve the mystery of the loch ness monster, etc.

So instead of pesimistic vs optimistic it could instead be resigned(it's no use...I can't do it...) vs determined(I must keep on it!). A strong girl that doesn't cave when there's trouble (even though she might momentarily hesitate) is rather more likeable and admirable. Just my 2 cents.

Regarding the low pass filter you could try faking it by making two versions of the song and then cross-fade between them depending on the distance.

Zoe
which is greek for "life"

or Neda which is supposed to be a greek river godess. more river god names here:

Brainstorming for names is fun but I'm having too much fun with it and have trouble picking one.

Thanks I thought I had to dl and install the entire thing which is a bit of a hassle. The game is great by the way, slick and professional. Amusinlgy my favourite area from the entire demo was the credit area.

Any updates on this? I would like to try out the game but I don't care for installing VC++.

I guess then you don't want to share your secret to how it's done

This looks sweet. I love the wacky little character with the limbs fluffing all over.  The water effect is really pretty, especially the surface as the character dives in and out. Nifflas, care to drop a clue on how this is done in MMF2?

No I haven't, I'll try later. But the lack of any kind of guidance, story or goal was rather disorienting from the start. I assume that this has been adressed in the final version of the game and that there is a story/goal?

I have found that secret ability at the warp zone, but I don't even know if I am supposed to find all the coins to end the game. Is that the goal?
