Enjoy!
For those who don't know what WaCS is:
Premises: During his work on a massive bomb to freeze the world, Dr. Cliché had failed and created a ball. Though unknown by all except Dr. Cliché himself, his younger cousin, Fredrik Commonplace, who had not yet received his PhD was also working on a project of his own. His project, though not as devious as Dr. Cliché's was to create the ultimate ball for children to place with. After assembling his ball to perfection, Dr. Cliché entered his lab and pushed Fredrik into the portal his was developing so he could enter through his computer into the internet. After seeing his master disappear into oblivion, the ball bounced into Dr. Cliché's head, giving him amnesia. Dr. Cliché waddled out of the lab and back into his own to work on the project. Since Dr. Cliché could not remember the correct formula for his devastating bomb, it malfunctioned and created a ball. So Fredrik Commonplace's ball saved humanity for only a short time. After kicking Dr. Cliché out of Fredrik's lab he then proceeds to enter the portal to save his creator.

It would be nice if you explained what WaCS is somewhere in the topic. Just sayin'.

Within A Complex System, a WaDF fangame.
Anyway, I liked the level, but where's the computer terminals? You should have included at least one in the tutorial. :P2
=|=
-
@Razzorman - WaCS is a WaDF fangame, as Yuka said, I explain it all in my thread in the "Collaborations" part of the forum:
http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=3000.0
@Yuka - I'm glad you liked it, this is just a beta of the tutorial. The only reason I didn't elaborate on the whole level is because I'd like to know a basic direction for my story first, before I start anything.
-
Not to bitch, but the gameplay looks more like Operator Status than Within a deep forest. :) Especially since WaDF doesn't have slopes, while MAS:OS has.
-
Don't mention OS, please, that game gave me nightmares.
=|=
-
WaDF doesn't have slopes?!?! I never noticed :O... Hmm, well I'll still call it Within a Complex System, but have some MAS and OS references then. :)
-
Slopes work wrong. If you don't have horizontal speed, you can bounce up/down.
-
Yep, I noticed that. :P I was wondering why the slopes weren't working. I removed them from the tutorial, I'm also going to spice it up as well. :)

Other than the slopes, physics seem slightly off.. and I'm assuming that's what this beta is showcasing?
I would assume there would be more scenery.. If it's in cyberspace, some bg and such.
So I guess I'll critique physics :)
There is the slope issue
'a'jumps are a little too fast..
At full jump and then release, the first jump should compress the ball.. but the second bounce should be a solid ball in my opinion
Also, you have a few stray pixels that the ball reacts with. Therefore I'm assuming there isn't a solid layer mask, and that the blue grid is actually the solid layer.. Which is probably what causes the slope issue.
:)
I will forever love you if you finish it :D
-
Sorry guys for deleting the video, I switched to a different youtube username. I can't seem to make up my mind on what I want to call myself. XD
-
WHEN WILL THIS BE FINISHED? I've been thinking about this all the time!
-
Lol. One of the great factors of designing a game is motivation, and at least I see one person who still wants to see this game done.
I stopped working on this game during its first level. So yes, I'll keep working on it, but it won't be finished for quite a while. :)
EDIT: Actually two people, thanks TDO and Dj Gopher. :D
I still need your help Yuka. ;D

No problem :)
At second glance I am almost sure of what I said earlier..
The slope doesn't work because of the grid, the ball is designed to hit each individual pixel.
This can be fixed by either
a: adding a solid layer mask
b: connecting the lines with a diagonal line
c: changing the physics to perform like knytt stories, for example if you bump into 2 pixels alone, you can't walk up them, if you bump in 2 pixels followed by 4 pixels followed by 6 and so on, you walk uphill.
:)

I must say i am silently interested in this :D
What platform are you building in? If it's GameMaker, i'd be happy to help

Yes, I think he's using GM.
Also, what do you need my help with? Sorry, it's been a long time since we last talked about this game, so I forgot. XD
=|=

@ DJ Gopher - I removed the slopes because I totally forgot that there were no slopes in WaDF.
@ ACWL - I'm making it in MMF, hence I'm using the open source WaDF movement engine. But you can still help. I'm going to need help writing as I'm using my other ideas for other writing/game projects. I'm also in need of graphics/tilesets and music.
@ Yuka - Anything really, especially the story. Have you updated your Fallout 3 stuff yet? I haven't checked.
