Well, it certainly has been a long time! I'll spoiler an explanation (including technical details! Hooray!) of what went wrong here if you care to read it. If not, just continue on..
It turns out TightVNC, which I run on my recording/Windows system for remote admin purposes has UPnP enabled by default. My ISP-provided router, which I'm tied into using for various reasons also has UPnP enabled by default. It did not cross my mind that UPnP would ever be enabled by default. I can sort of understand on a router, but why on Earth would remote access software which should default to secure settings enable a massive security hole of a protocol like that by default?
Anyway, a bot managed to brute-force the password I had set and access my system. As far as I could tell, all it did was spam things into various textboxes and on Facebook. Not too bad, but I decided the best course of action (keeping speed in mind) would be to wipe the system completely and reinstall Windows, and so I did. Of course, doing a badly planned reinstall in a flurry like that results in losing save data. This, combined with life in general throwing lots of busy-work at me put a bit of a crimp on let's plays, so.. apologies for that!
All is well again now though, so video should resume proper!
Basically, I am going to resume to let's play, hopefully having some parts up within a week. I'm also going to be doing The Great Work, since that is yet another game I've wanted to play since I first heard of it.
Also, I fixed the thumbnails in the first post! Blame that on me switching VPS providers and completely forgetting I had them stored there.. my bad!
