Thanks LPChip!

RIP pocoo

.knytt.bin reader class:

Map reader/renderer class:

Disclaimer: The base of these classes was written years ago. I was like fourteen, bear with me if you're an advanced programmer and look at them!

I've also put a download link to a ZIP file containing both classes in my signature.

I just stumbled across this:
http://www.psu.com/a016875/Hands-on-with-PS-Vita-Indies---Big-Sky-Infinity-Knytt-Underground-and-Panic

Nifflas' part is mostly on page 2.

By the way, guess who the guy in the green shirt on that photo GrayFace posted is ;)

Well, as you may now, this script requires big amounts of RAM. f you don't have much (The Machine requires ~500 MB I think), you might not be able to render some of the big levels!

$_GET['f'] is the path to the knytt.bin.

Note: I've updated ksmap in my first post, fixed a bug with rendering transparent objects when caching was on.

Oh and for teh lulz Screenshot of Gaia in Photoshop!
Full 13MB map

Can you work with PHP scripts? I currently don't have any webspace to offer for this.

Development Showcase / Knytt Stories PHP classes

Hi,

As some of you may know, I have contributed to the new Knyttlevels.com that has just reached a private beta testing stage. My biggest contribution to the site were probably my two PHP classes that allow to 1) read and extract files from .knytt.bin packages and 2) render knytt map files. Years ago, I posted an early version of the 2nd class in the old forums, but since then, it has been improved a lot. I haven't worked on them for ages - to be exact, probably one or two years, and my coding style has actually changed quite a bit since then!
Still, I'd like to share them with you - I'm aware that there probably aren't many people who know PHP and like working with KS map files, but whatever! Here they are - I've only retouched them a bit just now so that they have more appropriate comments above function headers and usage help at the top of the file, but the code is still the same as 2 years ago.

KnyttMap: http://paste.pocoo.org/show/580370/

On my other PC, I should have a script lying around that takes a .knytt.bin file and renders the WHOLE map to a single PNG - really cool, if anyone's interested, I'll try to find and upload it (That's how I made the Machine png in my signature). It was even capable of rendering Gaia, which seems to be the biggest level ever made. It took a while to render though, I can tell you :P

I hope at least a single person will appreciate this  X-P

So let's hope everybody will appreciate the new site :) I'm happy to see it's nearing its completion - I myself am not really working on the site right now, I'm barely getting my own stuff done.  It will definitely be a lot nicer to use than the current site, some cool features that LPChip has already hinted at in the past, if I remember correctly.
Good luck finishing the site, I'm eager to see people fill it with content!

NightSky / Re: System requirements?

The C++ build uses OpenGL, the MMF build uses Direct3D. I'm pretty sure the C++ build is faster in any case, I think it might run on an integrated gpu since there really isn't much to it. Just some textures moving around on the screen.

EDIT: I just read that the C++ build requires OpenGL 2, which is pretty much standard nowadays, but I'm not too sure about low-end graphics cards... so it might not run after all. Best luck there.

Nifflas beat you to it? Apparently you're under the impression that physics-based games with balls were revolutionized by Nifflas. I really don't see why you should abandon your project - as far as I remember it also had online capabilities - The great thing about NightSky is not the originality of the core gameplay. It's the design and the puzzle/challenge.

NightSky / Re: Giant Leaf, Alternative, #10

Eh, that's what I did. I tried it twice. It didn't work. Then, I used timing and kept holding right, which worked. I tried that other method again, didn't work. I'd always fall in the middle whole.

Um, yeah, you can. It involves timing or luck though. I'm not sure why this deserves an own topic - it's not like the level is very challenging anyway.

The game is definitely worth 7.2 Yen.

You must be overlooking some. They're all indicated by the star symbol in the screen selection screen.

This is not just a level of difficulty. It is an alternative mode. It has completely different puzzles. It's not like the alternative mode has 20 times more enemies than the normal mode or something. :P

I'll have to disagree as well - I really don't see why you would go with the more challenging alternative mode first. I think that everybody who buys the game should play both modes - I love the alternative mode, but you should keep the "original" order. If you play the alternative mode first you won't have as much fun with the normal mode. It serves as training for the alternative mode as you're getting used to the physics and find movement techniques that will help you later.

Yeah, as I said, there will be multiple scores that add up to a total score, plus the description.
Besides, I agree with JC, the community can handle it, I'm sure.
