This is really impressive. Possibly flashy to the point of getting in the way of functionality, but for assignment purposes I think there's nothing wrong with that!

I know what you mean.
I've discovered that while my website is more visual than the current Nifflas site. His site does exactly what it needs to, without being too performance heavy.

Just thought I should post here one last time.

The website is 'finished'.
The deadline for the assignment has passed, and I have uploaded it.

There are a few things I'd probably change, but overall I'm very happy with how it is.
I had a lot of fun making it, I learnt so much.

The assignment brief simply asks that we use CSS.
I used CSS, jQuery, and PHP.

jQuery made the biggest contribution to the website.

Anyway, I hope you guys think it's alright.
I realize there's a few things I missed out on changing, I guess I was to busy thinking about what I could add, so I forgot to think about what needs to be improved.

In case you don't want to go back to another post, here's the link to the page.

Ah, when I uploaded the site last I had been fiddling around with .php scripts. So the contact page bugged out.
At the moment I've made it empty, I can't find the ftp url though, so I can't upload the new version.
I'm going to find out what it is on Monday.

I've copied and pasted all the descriptions, and the site is supposed to be like a re-design of his site.
The whole assignment is that I've hypothetically been hired to design  or re-design a website.

We were allowed to choose whatever we want for the website purpose, I chose Nifflas because I love his games, and no one else would copy me, as they don't know who Nifflas is.

I'll talk to my tutor about whether I should make it 1st person or 3rd person.
If I'm allowed to make it like a fan site, I might. But as far as I know it's supposed to hypothetically be his new website.

I never noticed the titles were the same, I'll change it today, it won't be too hard. :)

Ok, just to update.

I have read over all the posts, and made a list of changes I need to make.

We've been provided at college, with a domain name, here is mine for the Nifflas website.

At the moment it's still got a pretty old version, as I have to upload the files to update it, which I'm not used to.
With the previous version, all I had to do was save it as it was reading from my computer.

Lastly, we recently started learning CSS3 Animation, and I'm learning some Javascript on the side.
This will really help me improve the website, while I can't see where I'll implement CSS3 Animations (which I need to for the assignments) I can definitely see a use for Javascript. (Glad to finally be learning it)

If you have ANY ideas, let me know.

You can either experiment with some sans serif fonts

Hey, I'm wondering if you have any ideas for other fonts I can use.

I can see how it would make it simpler.

Right now I'm very glad I'm using a CSS style sheet to define the whole website, it'll make these sort of changes a lot simpler.

Ah yes

At the moment the website is programmed to take up 100% of the window, which means it scales to fit the window no matter how small.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I'll talk to my teacher about it.

Ah, I think it's not loading everything correctly.

I am quoting Nifflas, as it's supposed to be a redesign of his website, as the task of our college assignment describes.

I find it strange that Firefox and IE don't work, as that is the only two browsers I use at college.

At home I test it on Chrome, Opera, Firefox, and IE.

The big black box is an unfinished part, I plan to have a slideshow/video player there, but as I do not know Javascript, it's not finished.

I'm going to be working on this website for the rest of this year, so there is still a long way to go.
At the moment I'm still creating the pages.

Next week we're getting domain name spaces, if it's going to show up correctly, it'll be there.

(I'm using Windows Live Mail to notify me while I work, it sometimes takes longer, as it did now)

Ah, damn.

http://www.portfolioshowcase.co.uk/kenglish/

EDIT:
If the site doesn't load or anything, it might be because I've closed my browser (It runs alongside the browser).
If that's the case, send me a message, or post on this thread, and if I'm on my PC (Which is quite often), I'll quickly bring up the site.

EDIT EDIT:
Updated it with the portfolio showcase domain

Hey, I'm hosting the website on an Opera Web Server, so if possible, please visit the website and let me know what you think.

The password is 'media'
The music page doesn't exist yet, as I only just made it.
And for some reason, there's an image that refuses to display on my PC.

Also, most of the downloads, if not all, are unlikely to work.

Quick question, do you think I should also include the other games Nifflas made on an extra page?
(Such as Type, Roll, Nifflas Car Game, etc.)

Thank you for your responses

I'd like to see a website that highlights really WHO he is. As an indie game developer, people
often operate under monikers and their true identity is lost in that.

I can understand this, I'll try put more information about HIM in one of the pages.

Depending on the style of the website, I would suggest not putting music.

If it is going to be marked on the programming behind the website, put music in, but if it is going to be marked on the practicality of the website and the aesthetic features of it, putting music would just discourage the viewer of the website...

The website will have quite a simple style, as with his current website.
I'm trying to put a bit more media into the website, while retaining the simplicity of the navigation.

But yeah, one of the main rules in our website, was to avoid putting music in, as it puts off a lot of people.

Hello there
I'm doing a college course in Interactive Media, and we have been asked to make a website based off one of our favourite websites.

So, I am doing a Nifflas Website. No one else on my course has ever heard of him, :P

At the moment, I'm going to make four pages; Home, Games, Downloads, and Contact.
And I'll be trying to use more rich media than the current Nifflas website.

So I want to ask, what would you want to see in the Nifflas website?
Try not to go too wild, I'm still learning how to make a website.

WEBSITE CAN BE SEEN HERE. Ver. 24/05/2012

NightSky / Re: Nightsky History
« on: March 28, 2011, 19:04:00 »
The PC version of NightSky was made using MMF2

Oh crap, Just when I thought Nifflas was good at MMF2, you say he made Nightsky (and I assume Saira) with MMF2 AS WELL..... damn he's awesome. Well now I know that MMF2 can be flipping amazing if used well.

Well done Nifflas, I really enjoyed Saira and Nightsky, I didn't encounter any problems, just a lot of frustration from losing :P

Keep up The Great Work.... see what I did there :)
