Hello! This is my first post since like... a very long time.
I just wanted to say that I think it's funny how you get a meta-discussion going for nearly 1.5 years.
I also think, that the communitys state is not worth discussing, it seems perfectly fine to me.
Ever since the big crash, activity has slowly been declining, just to shoot up shortly after new releases.
There is not much one can do about this, except posting! Actual posting, no meta-stuff like this.
If you want the forums to become more active, you have to be more active.

That probably sounds super-lame and obvious but I don't see this discussion resulting in anything else than mights and might nots. This is not a question of forum-categories or features.
New features and categories don't cause activity - it's the other way round.

edit: Hah, yes! The only thing one *could* change would be those temporary subforums for level creation. Those have been temporary for what? Years? ;) Since those sections are the main selling point of the forums, I'd restore them to their old beauty. I think they are incredibly messy and difficult to navigate. Yes.

« on: July 22, 2010, 12:33:24 »
Made by a group of Valve designers, who were hired from the mod community,  Alien Swarm is an free, class-based top-down shooter which is playable with up to 4 players. Also, the complete code base is available and you get a nice SDK to develop custom levels and stuff. It runs on Source engine and requires steam to be played.

Bumping because Minecraft is the official game of the forever. Paid Alpha is the nuts. Free Creative mode still rocks hard. Somebody get a niff server online already (for the purpose of recreating Wadf in 3D and stuff like that ).

@wetako, will you update the first poste with the homebrew people list?

I will, but I didn't plan to add games. I wanted to focus on creativity-related applications - otherwise the mainpost would become too long and complex. Still, if you have great homebrew games to present here: Post them! I have far to few since my favourite Homebrewblog is a bit... inactive at the moment  :S

Creativity Support / Nintendo DS Homebrew Thread
« on: June 20, 2009, 21:41:26 »
THIS LIST IS NO LONGER MAINTAINED. ALL SCREENSHOTS ARE DOWN BECAUSE THE IMAGEHOST WAS HACKED. I'M VERY SORRY.
This thread is about Homebrew on the Nintendo DS.
Because of Knytt DS (and other homebrew) being awesome, I thought it would be cool to have a thread about homebrew in general.

Getting started:

So, what do I need?

First, you need a Flashcard. There are literally tons of them and most of them suck. It would be a good idea to use a popular card (R4DS/M3DS, EZ-Flash V, CycloDS, M3 Real, Acekard 2) to have good support if you meet troubles. My personal pick is CycloDS Evolution: Its easy to use, has great support and LightningEagle made a great Knytt-Stories-Theme for it.

Then, you need a memory card to store your data on. This is in most (every?) cases a MicroSD card. Be sure to check whether it actually works with your flashcard.
