This level is indeed fantastic, probably one of my new favourites. I personally feel it's better than Bit.Trip.Runner, a game built around a similar premise.

I recorded a playthough!

Thanks hqql for necro-ing this thread and making me play this amazing level! You don't really need the keys... at all. Also, I never muted the music myself and managed to do OK.

No problem!

I just finished the level... FINALLY =D

This was so much fun, I don't even care I was not yet good enough to make it to the end as I started playing this, it was SO enjoyable to do, eventhough I probably died a lot more than I should have, lol.

Anyone know some other KS levels like this one? Not per se with a 'scrolling' feature but just... very platform/jumping based, and still challenging to someone who finds the 'normal' levels too easy.

MEEEEEEEEEGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABUMP

omgthisisthegreatestleveliveseeninmylife!!!

so there was this Knytt named Juni who couldn't stop running and-

*SPOILERS*

Okay, enough with the Bum reviews reference, this level is by far the most entertaining and challenging level I've played so far. Entertaining in that it's just so much FUN to play. Sure, I die a lot. Sure, that's frustrating. But it's almost as if my death count is directly linked to my will to play, I find myself looking forward to coming home just to play this level! I haven't finished it yet, I've made it half way (at least I hope it's half way) into the blue purple black (damn you spikes) area but I definitely will. I wanted to not post untill I was done but I'm taking a short smoking break and I just couldn't keep my enthousiasm to myself.

I also wanted to say the music is so PERFECT I had to mute the sound, I discovered I have a tendency to sync up my play (jumps) to the music which only leads to disaster in the long run. So kudos for the music (and the level sync) but as a tip to all who want to do better at this level: mute the music (after you've heard it of course) and listen to your favourite gaming music, it really helps.

Oh and in hopes of you still reading this Kyodo, do I need the keys to finish this?

Anyway, anybody who likes a REAL challenge without having to make insanely pixelperfect jumps (some are pretty precise but none of them are even Very Hard imo), doesn't like luck-based levels and is REALLY into the pure platforming aspect, should give this a try. As previously stated, the fact it doesn't have savepoints makes this a Hard level (perhaps even a tad harder than an average 'Hard' level), but it's so darn enjoyable, try before cry.

Just finished it. Great level! I still haven't found the secret ending though... Not even in the level editor

+1...

Do I suck this bad at finding stuff or what?

Jerom, update plx?

I didn't really have to go looking for the hidden rooms since they were pretty easy to find, and apart from the 3 enemies and what, like 4 spike traps, there wasn't much to do besides walking. The Mario sprite was fun, eventhough it didn't serve any purpose (unless you'd count killing you) and the text balloons were still empty (kinda sloppy..), as for the rest, it's all been done before, the dark maze, the way you hid the rooms, the waterfall. I mean, sure, it's not like you're the only one who has done these, but I'd expect a bit more creativity in a level of 15 only screens, and especially more of a challenge.. The Medium/Challenge/Hard tag is very inaccurate, since it's more of a [Very Small/Environmental/Maze/Easy] level, in my opinion.

Make a larger level, add more stuff, PLEASE give a run powerup if you're not set on making a lot of traps based on Juni not having that powerup and truly finish it (the pointless secret room and the empty textballoons).

The first 2 screens were pretty fun to play, eventhough they were not much to look at, and after that the environment got increasingly better but also increasingly boring to 'play' (having to use 1 key per screen is boring).

Hope it helps.

I liked it up untill I tried getting to the secret ending. I've done some Hard levels but jeez, if those were hard this is very hard. I mean, there's pixelperfect and there's this piece of sh*t. The rest of the level was good, just about hard enough (though due to some jumps not really 'normal' either) but it was very doable, I loved the challenge and it was pretty neat how some stuff was hidden. Getting to the other ending is a whole different story, it's not even challenging to me because it's just too darn hard. Now I know this is partly my own skill talking, but it's also the way you 'balanced' the difficulty throughout the level and putting the [normal/hard] sticker on it. It just isn't right...

And really, I don't mind dying 20 times, but it does get old pretty quick when you find out the next screen is even worse. I got as far as the screen with the 2 buttons on it. If you're going to produce more levels (and please do because I really liked the style of the level [meaning: the only enemy is a bad jump or a lack of exploration of the level]) try and balance the difficulty better, and tag it properly.

If the secret ending would've been just a tad easier to get to it would've been really great.

Oh and P.S.
I hate not being able to finish a level, so don't think I'm a quitter or anything, yours is the first level I just CAN'T finish... and yes, that does piss me off a bit =P

Well, technically... You did finish the level? That is what the normal ending is for.
I have a habit of making my knytt stories levels extremely difficult (They are usually lunatic difficulty...). I wanted to make it so the player had to earn his way to the secret ending...

At least you enjoyed the rest of the level though... It is not like my level is an abomination to mankind or something on that level :/

I got to a finish, yeah, but I meant I like completing a level and you know I did :P

Anywho, I like incremental difficulty, it keeps the level interesting, but the difference between the normal parts of your level and the harder parts, it's just too big. I don't have any problems with 'earning your way to the secret ending' though, I think it should be a bit harder than getting to the normal ending. In your level however it's not 'a bit' harder, it's WAY harder, and that makes the level for someone of my skill less enjoyable. I don't know how far from the secret ending I got but I'd like to think I got far enough to prove I'm not some whiny noob.

Btw, I'm sorry I was a bit harsh in my previous post, I was pretty disappointed in not being able to complete the level.

Hope this helps.

I'm stuck at world's edge...?

Edit: I found an ending but I don't seem to be able to go any further, or back.

when i touch the first key i encounter in the gray version, nothing happens

That makes 2 of us...

I can press [down] when standing 'on' the key and the ground gives off a flash like a save flash, but that doesn't seem to be doing anything either.

OH MA GAWD! _O_

This level was SO much fun to play, it was a real good challenge and I absolutely loved every bit of it! I've only had to use the Q&A once to get through (where the "Hmm" box pops up to get to the owl maze) but after finishing it (both endings) I read the rest as well, not to ensure I had everything, but just because it was pretty funny to read.

Yeah some parts were tricky (DAMN YOU GD!!) but it all in all it wasn't too hard, just about hard enough to REALLY wanna keep playing, very well done!

Nao, mor plox ^_^

I'm playing it right now and it's pretty nice, albeit a bit repetetive.

But I have to tell you those backwards walljumps up are driving me INSANE, it's ok to use them but if you're gonna say it's a Medium level, at least use more save points. Oh and I keep falling through floors or walls here and there, I can't imagine I'm the only one.

This does however allow me to travel through walls (it's a bit awkward to navigate through bricks but it's doable) see pic 1 & 2, and can get me to areas I'm not supposed to get, see pic 3.

You MIGHT wanna learn from that :P

Edit: Finished the level, it was ok. Do hope the problems mentioned above will be taken into consideration when making your next level. (If you ever make one :P)

Thank you Talps, this was very enjoyable! For me some parts were a bit too hard to really like but then again, I've only just started playing Knytt/Stories.

First off, I'm really enjoying this level! It has been QUITE the challenge so far, but I guess that's why it's called Hard :P

Everything was pretty managable up untill this point, I'm now confronted with this wall of upwardly crushing pillars (pic1) which seems almost impossible to cross (pic2). I'm pretty new to Knytt/Knytt stories so I was kinda hoping there might be a trick to doing this I'm not aware of?
I run up to the last possible point before I jump and make my jump as long as possible before I doublejump, but that last pillar is just SET on making me eat ceiling everytime I do this, and every other method of jumping I tried only slows down the jump, or speeds up my death, either way.

So... Please help? ^^

Knytt Stories / [stuck] Knytt stories: A strange dream
« on: July 25, 2011, 21:46:07 »
Hey guys,

I'm stuck in A strange dream, I found every other item but just can't seem to find the stupid yellow key. I already watched a Let's Play to find out where it is (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3C11v6mXrJg&feature=player_detailpage#t=442s ) but it wasn't there in my version. I figured it could have something to do with me running it in easy mode and the LP'er running it in normal mode, but still... I don't have the yellow key.

please help?
