I've never played Ace attorney (and I never really watched any of those youtube spoofs either). Mind explaining what this means?

When the witness has testified, the Cross-Examination starts, in which the defence and the prosecution are figuring out whether the witness is lying or not. You can pick out a statement and either press (get more information) or present evidence (to point out the witness is a liar). Find one lie, and their whole testimony will just fall apart. However, the prosecutor will keep 'proving' you're wrong.
