Title: Very weird problem/bug in Marine
Post by: Hmpf on September 28, 2009, 01:13:25
I have found what may be a game-breaking bug in Jerom's Marine... or maybe something's wonky just with my copy of it? Anyway, what happens is this:

Spoiler: (click to show/hide)

That sounds like a warp problem. You can delete the warp thing in that screen in the level editor, though it may screw things up.

I would, if there were one. But when I look at that part in the editor, there's no warp or shift or anything there. It's just a completely normal screen.

ETA: I have, in fact, fallen past that screen before I got the tools. It's just after I got the tools that the weird invisible-warp-where-there-shouldn't-be-one turned up.

Re-install the level? *shrugs*

I think I've run into this bug before.

Just try getting back to the sailors without entering that one screen.

Yeah, that happened to me too. Just try to find a way around that screen.

I can't. As far as I'm aware there's no way to reach the sailors without going through that looping screen. I've reinstalled and tried it on my other computer now, too - same problem there.

ETA: To be a bit more precise: when I try to 'go around' the faulty screen, whenever I exit the screen I'm in in the direction of the screen that should be beneath the faulty one, I end up in the faulty screen again. So, not only does the faulty screen itself loop; the screens to the right and left of the one below it also lead to the looping screen. There's no way to approach from below, as there's just hull and water there.

I just started playing this level and tries almost everything, but have the same bug. I even tried to look for those sailors in other areas, but they are nowhere to find. I reinstaled and played a couple of new games and even tried to do things in different directions, but that didn't help. I got the same warp loop. Maybe somebody fixed it? I just didn't want to create new threads when there is this one.

It was a duplicate warp line, one correct and the other broken. http://knyttlevels.com/levels/Jerom%20-%20Marine%20%28warp%20fixed%29.knytt.bin

Oooh, so awesome. Thank you so much for fixing that! Like the others, I ran into the bug and have been dying to finish the level ever since...

Thank you very much GrayFace!!
If I ever continue this level (the part 2 is 50% completed), I will put your name on the credits ;)

Ah, you're working on a part 2, then?
That's great news! I remember seeing some screenshots of the new tilesets you made, but I didn't know if you were even still working on it, nor that you already had such a big part done! That's another thing for me to look forward to, I guess!

YAY! (Both for the fixed version, and for the news about the sequel. :))
