I'm trying to run Knytt Stories on my Linux Laptop (Dell Inspiron E1705) on Fedora 13.
I receive the error:
"Cannot load DirectoryPacker.mfx. This object might need an external program or library not yet installed."
Since I use MMF, the extension .mfx means a MMF extension.
I was wondering how everyone else running Linux got KS to work.
I am trying to do this with the zip version of KS.
Thanks!

Ah, i had the same probable, it seems everyone with WINE does. It actually means you need to get a fixed .dll for your fake programs folder, but i forget which one sorry
-
Its msvcp60.dll, place it in wines system32 folder. I had the same problem.
-
Thanks Whistler, got it going. I knew it had to be put in system32, just couldn't figure out what it was. X-P

Hey no problem. But you might want to know newer games like Saira and Finck won't run at all.
-
Nah that's fine with me. The only one I really wanted to play was KS, I can save FiNCK and Saira for my desktop. :P
-
oh, its the opposite for me. I have one computer that only has Linux.

Saira and FiNCK run for me, albeit with some graphical problems, which happen to render Saira just a tad bit unplayable (FiNCK is perfectly playable, though).
-
How did you get FiNCK to run?
-
I can't recall if I even did anything special for it. What problems are you having?
-
FiNCK should work with the same DLL. The editor, on the other hand...
-
It gave me a black screen but I had sound. Like the Saira issues. It may because I am using an older version of Ubuntu. (well, not Ubuntu, but my distro is based on Ubuntu 9.04.)

For FiNCK I have the same issue as Whistler, but I have a white screen. And I'm on a Mac.
