I can only wait. Thank you for the welcome back, tho.

This is insane! I just logged into this forum for the first time in a long time. Both Knytt and Knytt Stories have been games that have defined my taste in gaming as a whole, that have dictated what I look for whenever I get myself into a new experience. The stylistic choices; The whimsical visual aesthetic and the minimalistic musical direction, the explorative dynamic... You're not even forced or nagged on for to visit or run through every single screen, but it feels natural to you anyways, at least I thought so.
Most of my favorite videogames of all time elicit the same feeling this game did, and I was led to playing all those games after the Knytt games; Cave Story, Undertale, Yume Nikki, Gone Home (whose comparison to this Knytt is a far stretch, but nevertheless...) I can totally see Nifflas churning out another great game. Something with the quality of the Knytt games and WaDF, the same personality. The only thing that has had ever disappointed me about the Knytt games is that their concept allowed for so much more content, but they ended up feeling too small, cut short. The ambition of some of the game's fan mods, specifically Gaia, overrode that of the original games. (... I just remembered I never played KU. Perhaps that is something I should put my time into!) Nevertheless, I'll always be looking forward for something more from Nifflas. Something to bring me back a few years back, when I was thirteen or fourteen, downloading loads of neat Gamejolt games, browsing Kongregate and Newgrounds, and every once in a while, finding gems like Nifflas' catalogue. I really hope that day comes.

Uh, I don't see an attachment or video to the song...?

It'd be useful if you stuck that in there  :P

Musically it's quite nice and mellow but the singer and the lyrics kills it for me. Seem to be the stuff couples in love listen to or something, in any case it's not my cup of tea.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQFp67VoiDA
note: long instrumental song, reviewer don't necessarily have to listen to it all.

Holy fuck this has been left alone for way too long.

Anyways, although calm instrumental is usually not my type of thing, this is really beautiful. I really like how the song changes as it goes.

So, in case someone else decides to continue this as well, here's my song (oh and it's live because I can't find a good not-live on in Youtube.)

Knytt Stories Level Releases / Re: TheYeIIowDucK's KS Level Dump
« on: August 10, 2014, 02:49:03 »
Double-posting for the bump.

It looks like the specific problem with the levels that came out of the torrent unplayable is that their Map.bin files are corrupted. The filesizes are correct; nothing else in the folder seems to be missing or damaged; and replacing a "bad" Map.bin with a "good" copy (from knyttlevels or wherever) renders the level playable again without anything else needing to be changed.

Has anyone else encountered this issue, either with the TYIID torrent or with other download sources? If there's reason to think the Map.bin files were somehow damaged during the process of my downloading them, I'll just re-download. If the torrent's copies themselves are bad, though...

(BTW, thanks to whoever anonymously seeded the torrent for me the other day. Hopefully that wasn't itself the source of the file corruptions.)

I've indeed encountered that issue too. Glad to know I'm not the only one.

Development Showcase / Some of my art.
« on: July 02, 2014, 19:42:06 »
I started a DeviantArt account around a week ago, and I've been posting some of my works.

I focus in minimalist, psychedelic, and abstract art, it seems to be what I can do best. There's already quite a few of my works in there (22 to be exact!) so, it'd be largely appreciated if you gave them a look.

Here's the page; http://santicolme.deviantart.com/

Well, 'later.

Pretty rockin' track. I could definitely see it featured on an episode of Regular Show, which means it did its job, I think?

Now for something a little more laid-back.

There's only a few people left playing this forum game... Oh well.

About the song you sent me, I quite enjoyed it. The lyrics were rather abstract and the music quite light, and I quite liked the singing. So, yeah, very nice.

Here's my choice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6psOf1B79w

I goddamn adore the album that song came from.

Edit: I've also been listening to a lot of St. Vincent now. Maybe it's my mood, but wow, she's just amazing. The song you sent me is mainly what I've been listening to, so yeah.

(Hopefully this isn't a controversial song for some reason.)

I'm outraged that you'd post this song. You're obviously only doing so because of that viral Game of Thrones video. Frankly, I'm disgusted by your trivialization of Tyrion's plight, Healy. Why do you hate Tyrion so much, Healy? Why do you hate me so much, Healy?

Pretty good song, though. I'll follow it up with some eroge-style chiptune.

Sounds very nice, and I've been considering to play that game too. So, yeah.

Here's yet another track from a video game. Hotline Miami, specifically.

douchebag newpunk posers yuck

if you're gonna be emo do it right don't abide to crap by big label pop wankers.

Exactly the type of response I was expecting, sadly. There's this thing called not everyone has the same taste in music. Like, song you just sent me... I listened to it and it's absolute crap to my ears. Also, I know Green Day is really fucking mainstream but why should the fact that it's mainstream stop me from listening to it?

I'm not going to post a video here, I'm just going to let someone else continue the game.

Edit: I'm not gonna be "emo". Now you're just stereotyping. Oh well.

Well, it's not even remotely new now, ( :P2) but I still think it's pretty good. It reminds me of Patrick Cowley's Menergy, mostly because of the refrain "Electric energy". Music video gave me a headache though.

How do you guys like this song?

This is one of the most 80's songs I've ever heard, not saying that's bad, but seriously xD.

I do like though. Hooray for music I like!

This next song is probably one of the most mainstream songs I like but it's really that good, at least as far as my taste in music goes.

So your next blogpost is going to be: "Today I learned my keyboard has more use for my enterkey than to confirm any selections I've made. I can actually create paragraphs!"

Hey, that's an idea xD.

O_o I should have read all the posts before saying it reminded me of my youth. I only read the first 2 which didn't say much of anything. I skipped the third post because the titles were uninteresting, and it was one big block of text. A giant block of text will turn readers away if you haven't gained their interest.

Tends to be my style of typing. Sorry!

Many teenagers seem to do that, and I strongly advise to stop doing it. It is a given that many people will skip large texts if they were written like that, because it is very hard to read and even tiring on the eyes.

Are you affraid you wear out your enterkey?

No, no. It's just I need to get used to trying to making the paragraphs a bit shorter. I'll do that.

I know people who've cut too and frankly, I'm too much of a chicken to cut myself or I might've myself. The fact that I know it'll hurt and there will be blood is enough for me to not do it. There are other ways to hurt ones self that are not leaving marks.

Regardless of this, its funny how you think no one reads your blogs because you didn't tell anyone. Now that you posted your blog, and we know about it, we can start reading about it. There are only 4 posts so its not like much reading material right now either.

My first recommendation would be to make future posts readable by adding enters here and there (like I did in this post.) When the story goes into a different direction or a deeper level, add 2 enters.

I would also recommend to blog about your entire life as if it were a diary (with of course not sharing your most inner secrets).

It is more entertaining for outsiders to read that than to only read when something negative has happened to you. Blogging basically is writing about what you experience, regardless of what it was.

You don't need to blog every day of course, but even if you do, and it is only a small: "today, I got up, went to school, it was boring, got home, eaten and went to bed. Yeah, not much happened." would be a post. Maybe share a joke once in a while if you don't have anything else to post.

If you want people to read your blog, make it interesting for them to read.

What people don't want to read is, how you are so sure that its not interesting. People will agree with you and move on.

Thank you for the advice! I'm not going to write stuff that I'm sure is not interesting nor I'm going to write that what I think I'm writing is not interesting because frankly I know there's no point for me to do that

But I really do want to thank you for the advice.
