Title: Simpler Times - my first tileset (looking for advice)
Post by: steynj on September 17, 2010, 10:24:45
So yeah, pretty much what the title says. Props if you can tell me what these example screenshots are modeled after.

Anywhoo.

Comments would be nice, as well as suggestions: this is still a WIP.

You might want to put more gray in the background tiles (changing the brown color itself) so it appears more in the background. You can also make those tiles more transparent (like 80% visible)

Other than that, this looks pretty nice.

At 80% there was barely a difference, so I took them down to 50%. If that's too transparent then one could always put them on another layer as well, to make them opaque. Edited the first post.

I suppose it's not bad construction-stuff-something-wise, but it really doesn't seem to have anything that stands out as particularly original. :/ Unfortunatly I cannot say I'm very good at producing original ideas either. X)

Paula's pretty much said it all.  I would like to add that I really like the way those black tiles handle inside corners.
