Knytt Stories - Custom Content / Custom Object Collection
« on: June 12, 2010, 15:53:56 »
Alright, I looked.

Is there a compendium of custom objects?  I'm going to start a collection.

If not, maybe it's time.  >_>  Also, post your CO's with code.  Like I said, I'mma collecting them.

Edit:  I should stipulate that I'm specifically collecting animated Custom Objects, as non-animated objects are really easy to make.

Knytt Stories - Custom Content / Silhouetted Tilesets
« on: June 08, 2010, 14:43:23 »
Was inspired by Castles, by Dessgeega, so I decided to do a Silhouetted level known as Foreverland.  The concept is to make a huge playground level while sticking to a very small file size, but in silhouette style.  Problem is, I've run dry on ideas for tilesets.

Looking for ideas.  I want to do the most with the least I can to upload.  I figure two more tilesets, max, maybe a custom Object or two (tho I'm horrible at COs), and absolutly no extra sounds or music (due to large file size).  Any clues?

I'm not used to asking for help with something like this, sooo...sorry if I don't sounds very specific.

Knytt Stories Level Editing Support / Knytt Nano character
« on: May 22, 2010, 14:21:36 »
Woof.  This one's probably not going to happen, but I'mma try anyway.

Is there any posibility of changing the playable character in Knytt Stories from Juni to that hat wearing girl from Knytt Nano?

This is mostly a question for Egomassive.

You released an update for Shipwrecked a while back.  It was certainly smaller than the actual level and was used to overwrite the original file.  This count as an update, I guess.  How'de you DO that?

I forgot to make this topic for released levels.  This is the Blue House for the Competition and WooT, I won. X)

In this level, Juni is asked to retrieve a random red flag.  And so she enters a haunted house.

1.  Er...There is one, count them, ONE save point in the entire level and despite the complaints I've gotten, I still think it was a good move being that it is set in the exact center of the level and having to repeat the same challenge over and over is still on the low.  I stand by my design choice, even though I'm probably not going to do it again.

2.  There is a secret "challenge" in this level that no one seems to have found, yet, which makes me a sad panda.  If you find it, could you post what you thought of it?  I will warn you that it does sort of exacerbate the issue with the single save spot and you will pull your hair out.  I laugh at your pain.

3.  I know this was discused in the Designer's Trap thread in this forum, but Blue House suffers from IWS (Invisable Wall Syndrome).  I promise, you will not notice it.

4.  Finally, please enjoy the level.  If you don't, then it's sort of pointless to upload it, but I think you will.  If for no other reason than the music I found from Newgrounds by Shadow6Nothing9.

V.1.0

Bugs:
Oh god help me, if you find bugs, because this level is very hard to alter given how each screen was made.  That said, please don't be discouraged from looking for voids and wall swims (except the obvious one in the secret area.

Knytt Stories Level Editing Support / CC or PD Music
« on: March 29, 2010, 00:21:31 »
Okay, I'm going to sound like a complete noob, but here I go anyway.

I'm looking for places to download and use good Video Game sounding CC (Creative Commons) or PD (Public domain) music.  Key being they are Video Game sounding music.  9_9  it isn't that I don't like Niflas' music, it's that I've heard it time and time again and want a little something different with my levels.

This problem is also compounded in that I have limited internet time, but that's another story.

Does anyone know where I can get such music?  Of course the artists would be credited in the level.

K, a couple of things.

1:  This is based around a copy written song.  I have no idea of the legality of this, but I put way too much time into it to care.  I'll just keep it off you're guy's site to keep the legality on the down low for now.  Music is from Sims 2, BTW.

2:  This level has allot to do with the timing of said song.  Jump are timed to be done in rhythm of the music, and if done right, the power up are all claimed on the symbol crashes of the song.  This took a long time to do, but I have NO idea if it'll work the same on my computer as on yours.

The Goal of the game is to reach the finish line before the music ends.  There are no save points, but I put very few things in to kill you.  If you do it right, you should NEVER have to take you finger off the right-arrow key, but your first time through, you'll probably want to ignore the music, just to get a feel of the obstacle course you're going through.

This Download has been removed.

*le sigh*  I found out about the whole copywriten song thing after I finished the level design, but before I finished making it look good.  Still, I'm curious if it's possible to finish the level before the music is over on other people's computer. The timing is almost perfect on mine.  Enjoy for what it's worth.

P.S.  The tile set "Part-Teh" is all yours to use, if you wanna use it.

Edit:  Still not going to complet this, but have made a few changes.
1.  The flaw in Part-Teh tile set is fixed so that little dot over the purple grass is gone.
2.  >_>  There was a floor blocking the way making it so you could not finish the level.  That's gone now.
3.  nconciously added some background.

k, This download will self-destruct in about a week.

Knytt Stories Level Releases / [Enviromental][Normal]-Underground
« on: March 17, 2010, 01:32:49 »
Right-o, folks.  I still can' stop making these things, but really I'm only posting the one's that are interesting.

Here's an experiment in level making simply called:

Underground.

The theory was that I make a simple and somewhat small level, then draw the graphics over it, instead of using a tile-set.  Um...it's...It turned out interesting.

Story is nothing to chew on.  Juni goes down a hole. Spoiler, she comes back up.  But how?

Anyway, enjoy it.  I'm not going to fix the graphics, and I'm really not going to do this again.  This tiny level took my 3 straight days of drawing and my wife misses me.

Ver 1.2 is up.  This time with fewer punctuations in the title.

Changes:  Not much.  Took out the copyright music so no one would get in trouble.  Put in some non-climbables to you can't get out the way you came in.  Added stock music.

Hey, um...first level.

I've Been working on a massive story for...god, a year off and on, but in the meantime, I wanted to do something smaller.

Cliff Hanger is about the feeling of being on edge and rewarding exploration.
I wanted it quiet.
I wanted it quest like.
Tell me what you think.

Knytt Stories Level Editing Support / Knytt Stories limit info.
« on: April 22, 2009, 19:15:53 »
Okay, I'm new to these forums, but I have found no topic covering this.

I've started on a world called Sarah, but I've started to realize the project is going to take quite a few rooms.  Like...Gaia Big.

So, I'm wondering, now, as to the limits of Knytt Stories.  How many rooms should I be trying to fit the world into?  I'm not even a quarter done, and I'm at 100 rooms.

O_O  Should I be worried?
