Title: My animation article on Adobe.com
Post by: SiamJai on February 28, 2009, 14:45:52
Hi all,

If you are interested in animation, you might find a recent tutorial article of mine worth checking out. :) It's titled Animated logos in Fireworks CS4 (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/fireworks/articles/animated_logos.html) and it's the first article of mine published by Adobe, on the Fireworks Developer Center.

Basically, I show how to combine masking, looped symbols and some other techniques to create a 3D rolling football animation like the one below:

Although the article is written primarily with Fireworks in mind, the principle can be applied in any graphic editor. Questions, comments can be left either in this thread or on the article itself.

Enjoy! :)

Cool, nice SiamJai. Helpful.

And extra points for using football, since it's the best sport.  :P

Football, imo, is not the best sport. Neither is football.

Now, SiamJai. This is indeed useful for all practical purposes, but clearly you're not a perfectionist.

Thanks for checking it out! I'm glad it's of some use. :)

Evil, do you use Fireworks or some other program(s) for animation? FW is nice from the beginning, but it becomes truly useful once you figure out its unique tricks.

AmADizii, I'm glad you like it. And yep, football is cool (even at places where its called 'soccer'). ;)

Yes, I do.

I never knew what do do with it, so I just left it there.

Well that was a very negative and unhelpful comment..

Anyway, I found this really helpful.. I've been doing everything with way to much complication.  :/

Well, let me rephrase it. Football is a good sport, and this is a helpful tool. <_<

Evil and Dj Gopher: if you guys would like to know more, I'll update this thread whenever I write articles about how to animate with Fireworks the easy way.

For a start, I wrote a short tutorial earlier about making a beating heart animation (http://thaiwonders.com/design/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=80&Itemid=204); basically it's drag&drop, enter some numbers, click a couple buttons and hit play.  ;)

More to come.
