Wouldn't that have been a terrible ruse; a cold-hearted contrivance to disappoint all? Create a giant metaphor where we all believe in this great and powerful system - superior to any of its kind, only to reveal it was never what it seemed, and in fact suffer the same fate as Winston Smith? The name of the project a direct homage and foreshadowing of it's fate?

... That's not this project, but I bet quite a few people would hate me if it were so.  X)

Everyone can rest assured that just because you haven't heard from me in some time, does not mean I have given up or even forgotten about BSoaKFF.

Ladies and Gentlemen... I live!
Sadly my computer still does not. :/
My friend managed to crash my insanely expensive laptop, and still hasn't paid for the repairs yet.
Some friend. >:€
I'm currently having it worked on, however.
Also, I'm officially moved into my new home in another town,
and working two jobs which doesn't leave a whole lot of spare time.
So when I do get my laptop running again I will resume work, but it's
going to be a quite some time. Even more so than before. So nobody start holding their breath.
Though by now, I'm sure people aren't so optimistic about the release as before.
It just crossed my mind about all of this earlier, and i thought I'd left everyone know what's happening.
It's stupid hard to type paragraphs like this on my phone so I'm going to wrap this up, but it would be nice to hear back from some familiar faces of my team if any are still active. :)

I released it shortly after I started visiting the forum. I'm unsure if anyone actually ever used it at all...

It's coming along quite nicely. You may stop by the forum and have a look at the updated map I posted. It goes into a little more detail than the old sketch did.

True, yet I don't really feel recolors are making them unique.

I look at tileset remixes like remaking older movies. It may look prettier, but was still someone else's idea. (Except in this situation.  X-P)

However, if I updated this tileset's look with my improved skills and used it with a different name (Perhaps no name at all), that would indeed cause it to fall outside the license agreement, because it would in fact be a diffferent tileset, correct?

Meaning that others couldn't use it, no?

My questions goes as followed,

Once upon a time, before the server swap, I released a tileset called "The Beach With Jungle Flare".
I released it for public use; however, I don't believe anyone ever used it in any levels, nor have I heard of any having copies of it.

I would like to use this tileset for BSoaKFF, but as everyone knows, I have a strict desire to use only fresh tilesets, untainted by other levels.

First off, I would like to know the forum policy on situations like this. Assuming my tileset was never used, will it have to become public domain again when I release BSoaKFF?
I would like to think I'd have a say whether I can control the distribution of my work, but I'm not sure whether the Public Tileset clause covered such a situation.

Secondly, has anyone used said tileset? I'm not aware of any, but that means nothing.

(I've attached a copy of the tileset I speak of as a reminder.)

Your answers are greatly appreciated. :)

Tell you guys what. My last finals are tomorrow. After I take them, I'll write up an update while at Starbucks.

7
Why? I suppose it's a bummer because I'm still working on it?

About...time. :D

You gotta be careful with this one. Doing this may mean trolls will post nasty comments in the review section, where the uploader cannot move them. Allowing the uploader to remove/move reviews, however, allows them to delete all the ones they dont like.

for this reason, you should probably leave the moving to comments to the moderators, with a "report to mod" button.

Forgive me if this comes off as rude, since it isn't intended as such, but didn't you basically repeat what I said?
Reporting the comment to a moderator is what I meant when I said "requesting deletion or moving".

Something that could be used to prevent trolls could be a VIP system. I system where comments made by new or untrusted users can be deleted by the uploader of a level if he is a VIP member. Likewise, VIP member's comments cannot be deleted by uploaders, only moderators. This way, the known and trusted members of the community have the ability to defend their levels against spammers, and since known members are highly unlikely to make spam comments, a mod would have to review it to clarify it is indeed, trash. Of course an untrusted user could always report the unfair removal, and if true to their word would be replaced.

Of course it has flaws, but nothing proper planning could not take care of.
Just an idea though. Take it or leave it. :)

So, quick update.
Short and sweet though, I need to finish studying.

I've purchased a laptop so that I finally have the ability to work on the go.
And I'm on the go.
A lot.

Secondly, this is finals week. I have two tomorrow, and two Friday.
Once those are out of the way I have until January before my next semester starts.

Actually, the main reason I was (somewhat) against the "review" feature was because I know some people would post their reviews in the comments. To me the two sections seemed a bit too much alike.

But if, like you mentioned, the review section will have some sort of score bars for music/gameplay, etc. - the difference between two sections will be much more obvious, so less people are likely to post their opinions in the wrong section. I guess it's mostly a matter of visual design.

Well, everyone around here seems fairly intelligent and quite capable of using the section for their respective purposes.
However, giving the uploader the ability to request deleting or moving of improperly placed comments could correct any slip-ups.

Good to hear! Now the wait will be even more painful...

Sorry 'bout that, good sir. :)

...silly plot devices like magic or evil machines.

:O Absolutely not. I would never disgrace Orwell with such garbage... Though if thought crimes (Which they may, or may not be. I cannot confirm, or deny that.  :shifty:) are involved some reminisce of a machine would be required. Nothing plot driving though, not like "The Machine".  ;)

This is rather impressive...
I'm always intrigued when people make mods for KS, and yours sounds rather clean and proper so far.

This will probably take forever since all of the custom slots will have to be filled. The level will be extraordinary once released.

Not really, I'd already used 50+ slots by completion of the first town...
(This, however, included many objects I could reuse...)
