Spent a couple minutes trying - and repeatedly failing - to triangle-jump on the screen in the screenshot, only to figure out on the very next screen that the pumpkins are bouncy. 10/10, would misinterpret again.
Also, i'm gonna assume the fact that you start out in a graveyard was meant to foreshadow the twist at the end
because honestly that makes the entire level, like, a dozen times better.
I played this yesterday and then forgot to leave a comment! :oops:
The level was pretty much great from start to end, although...
Now I will never be able to see that black swamp monster as anything but a swimming stickman! What have you done to me?! :shocked:
I played this, two days after Halloween and late to the party!
Yaaay, I liked the Dragon Myth reference C)p
However, screens 994-5,999 I found very frustrating. I can only assume that the real Juni had one of the jump powerups as well. And I only found the secret ending when I looked at the editor to find the reference for those screens so I could complain about them. :/
Both endings were very fun, however. The twist, I nearly saw coming - why did she start in a graveyard after all?
@canteven: Glad you enjoyed it!
Unfortunately, there are terrible secrets in this world mankind is better off not knowing... It was called "the dark ritual" for a reason :P
@Talps: As long as you are fashionably late (instead of plain regular late), all is ok 8)
You can always send your zombie look-alike in your place! Nothing can possibly go wrong with that.
Also, I probably should have checked the royalty rates for witch Jotunn's guest appearances beforehand... :O
That's... uhh... totally what happened here. Darn those living beings, hogging all the power-ups! Good thing the hologram was so dastardly hidden the real Juni wasn't able to find it either :shifty:
...Yeah, I'm not too happy with that challenge, especially with that unnecessarily tricky first jump. I raised the tiles above it a bit in a last minute effort to make it less annoying (this was about 1 hour before the release!), but it's still too easy to bonk on the ceiling and fail. I've updated the level with a fix for that, which will hopefully make the experience less frustrating (although maybe the whole "hold down S to bounce higher" thing is what's causing the problem here...)
I also went ahead and added a more noticeable visual hint to the secret passage that leads to the hologram. This was originally going to be the usual "you glow green when passing by" kind of secret and even made it so you'd have the detector power from the start, but this didn't feel right for some reason (maybe I thought it'd be weird for a zombie to go around carrying some hi-tech gadget :P ) and I changed my mind hoping that the conspicuous corner and a small visual hint (the fiery drops falling from the seemingly solid ceiling) would suffice. As usual, I went too far with the subtleness :oops:
Finally got around to playing this one (again, because I was planning on streaming it but never did), and gotta say: I really liked this one.
The ending was cuuuuuuute. Really enjoyed how simple and funny it was. Also, yes I did have to peek in the level editor to find the secret ending, but I wish I didn't because if I gave myself 10 more minutes with the level, I probably could have found it. Oh well...
