Development Showcase / A performance of my choir
« on: June 24, 2012, 23:15:43 »
Most of you probably are not aware of this, but I am part of a youth choir at a music academy here in Portugal (no religious affiliation!). A couple of months ago we went on a trip to Belgium for some concerts, the last of which was recorded and uploaded to youtube. I thought perhaps some of you might find that interesting.

The first two pieces are just by the female voices of the choir. If you don't want to go through the whole thing, I would recommend perhaps just watching the last piece "Aaron Copland - I Bought Me a Cat", as it is especially light-hearted and funny.

By the way, I am the short tenor who moves a lot and does the duck part on this last piece. I know I am sort of ridiculous when I sing, but I can't help it. :P2

Without further ado, here's the link for the playlist. I hope you enjoy it!

Other Free Games / [Math/Programming] Project Euler
« on: March 11, 2012, 12:49:16 »
While technically calling it a game may be an overstatement, I think this would be the most appropriate place to tell you about Project Euler. This website is a collection of math problems which are meant to be solved by devising efficient algorithms. It does require a little bit of programming and math knowledge, as you may guess. The answers you find are generally very large numbers, which then work as the password to "beat" the problem. There are also achievements for clearing specific sets of problems, and for every 25 problems solved you advance a level.
Here is an automatically-updating picture with my own progress. Feel free to post yours too!

Development Showcase / 10 paperclips
« on: September 26, 2011, 14:43:18 »
This video is the outcome of a project I worked on for the course of Entrepreneurship at university. We were given 10 paperclips and were supposed to somehow generate value using them. You can read further details in the video description. If you enjoy it, a rating would be very appreciated.

Thanks

The Great Work / Alchemy vs Sciences
« on: March 15, 2011, 17:59:06 »
I must admit I find the idea of alchemy ridiculous, which makes me curious as to how someone can devote his life to such a goal. It surely is a nice theme for a game in a fantasy setting like this one, though.

NightSky / Personal advice - please read before playing
« on: January 06, 2011, 18:26:53 »
When I played the game, I went through Normal mode first and only then did I play the Alternative version. I found the latter much more stimulating and it is to me the "real" game. I think I've actually missed out for experiencing the tricky puzzles after I had seen all the areas, instead of getting it all at once, so I really do recommend all of you looking for a challenge to play the alternative mode straight away, instead of only on the second playthrough.
I would only recommend the normal mode to those seeking a Knytt-like contemplative experience with almost no challenge.

Of course this is just my opinion, though. Whoever wrote this review, for instance, thought the exact opposite.

Anyway, have fun. :)

An upcoming Nifflas game! There is still no subforum for it, but I couldn't not post this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRsUCyYp5F8
Nifflas said this game would be a commissioned one. Apparently, it's related to these dudes: http://www.oskarochoskarsson.se/eng/

Saira / Bargain of the week!
« on: September 16, 2010, 22:10:07 »
A couple of indie game developers have recently made a bundle containing, among others, our beloved Saira.

http://www.theindiebundle.com/

I had already gotten my hands on the classic Indie Love Bundle, but I'm sure I'll buy this Summer bundle as well, even though I already own Saira.

Thought you'd like to know. Now there is really no excuse not to get the game. :P

An interview with Nifflas, mostly on FiNCK; I don't believe anyone has posted it yet. Not much new information, but still... :P

SPOILER!!! : Contains footage from FiNCK, showing some puzzles even. If you haven't beaten the game, it might spoil a little bit of the game.

I once made this video of a perfect-score playthrough of TTP and posted it on the old forum. Since it's still on my YouTube account, I thought I'd post it here.

This may help you if you're stuck, but if that's not the case, don't watch it, due to spoilers.

So, here it is: SPOILER WARNING

Saira / About the art style in Saira
« on: November 22, 2009, 19:33:20 »
I just found these two videos!
Here you can hear some comments about the artwork of the game, from this lady who's making concept art (I don't know what her name is According to her YouTube profile, her name is Charlotte, but she goes by the alias beomene) and here she's actually drawing a (great) picture of Saira.

Enjoy! :)

EDIT: I found her deviantART account!

Here are her illustrations for the game: (These are thumbnails. Click them for the big sized versions ;) )

Great pictures, don't you think? :)
