The Great Work / Re: The Great Work is released!
« on: February 02, 2013, 10:43:40 »
Lol, I just opened up jayisgames, saw the pictures of The Great Work and thought: "Lame, someone made a KU clone".

Nifflas, is this the new trend? Can we be expecting a game every month from your hand?  8D

It's pretty cool that it ended up #2 :) I'm super happy about that!
And seeing that Botanicula ended up as Game of the Year, it seems entirely likely that Knytt Underground is #2 in that respect as well. :)

Levels...?
He means things like the Infinite Darkness, Utopioca and the Underwater Laboratory. Clearly recognizable areas.

Have to agree. I remember where to find a few areas (the ones I mentioned above), but the rest of the map is just a big blur in hindside. :)

Ah, yes, that makes sense. Thanks. Got it. So much easier than flying to Sosede. :)

Maybe a mention or a character named after the winner(s) in some future "DLC" or the next game.

Could you elaborate? What did you have to rename libopenal.so.1 to?
Rename it to anything, really. You could even delete it, but just in case you need it back later, rename it to libopenal.so.1.bak or something.

It's really weird, but when I watched your vods, it feels like I'm seeing KU in slow motion. I counted a few times how long it takes to walk across an empty screen.

Your time =  6-7 secs
My time = 4 secs

Is this the PS3 version, or does recording slow it down?

Doesn't ubuntu uses Unity now, which is a modified version of gnome 2?
Don't ask me the details. I've barely enough knowledge about the whole window manager thing to take Unity out of the equation. I run it without panels or dash. Just gnome-do to start applications and yakuake for everything else. :)

Distro: Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M with Optimus, so I think it runs on the integrated Intel graphics controller
Window manager: Gnome 2 + Compiz

So far, runs very smooth and stable.  8)

Just registering on the forum to say: I love this game so far. It's such a nice blend of its predecessors; a lot of familiar environments and mechanics. Especially love the nods to the underwater lab, and underwater adventure. I've explored maybe 20% of the third area so far, and I'm sorta hoping for more operator status elements. Maybe some switches to toggle the gravity sideways, hehe. :)

Also: very pleasantly surprised to find that there is a working linux version. Not sure what the "beta" status indicates, but it works fine so far for me. You should mention it on the front page http://nifflas.ni2.se/?page=Knytt+Underground, even if it is just a beta version. Make nerds like me happy.

Kudos!
