Title: CO Request; Rolling Fog
Post by: Dj Gopher on November 14, 2012, 08:24:40
Hello!
I am in need of a foggy co that would work in a rainy forest. I can make it myself, but it likely won't turn out very well if I do, so I am wondering if the community has made, has access to, or perhaps will make (:P + <3) one?
Something that is rather thin and covers predominately the middle of the screen is preferable, something sitting above the ground (between 3-5 tiles up) and below the trees (about 5-7 tiles above the ground)

Thanks!
Dj

Did you find what you needed?  I know this is a bit of a grave dig, but I'm considering making a low lying mist, though it won't be animated.

What do you think of the steam rising from the bath in Capitalism 2? I could use the same principals to make fog if it is desired.

Just so you know (just noticed I had never gotten back to you on this) my fog hasn't worked out yet... or rather the area I was wanting fog for hasn't worked out yet, so I got nothin'.

This is the fog I'm using in the empty planet for various things. It's not really smooth but it works for my purposes. You probably can't contain it within the middle as it takes up the entire screen but you could probably squish it to only take of a certain amount of vertical space as long as the ground it was hitting was a flat surface.

Change the custom object number to whatever you're at. They're placed at the upper left-hand corner of the room. They definitely might not look good if the background makes them too apparent, and definitely won't look good if you speed them up. I overlayed two because I made one I didn't like and another I didn't like and then put them over one another and it ended up being acceptable that way.

Code: [Select]
[Custom Object 103]
image=fog2.png
Tile Width=600
Tile Height=240
Init Animto=51
Init Animspeed=50
Offset X=288
Offset Y=108
[Custom Object 104]
image=fog.png
Tile Width=600
Tile Height=240
Init Animto=29
Init Animspeed=10
Offset X=288
Offset Y=108

Feel no need to attribute these to me in your level credits, I feel like attributions look clutter-y. But you can do what you like. I'm not sure these would be what you want. That is, assuming, DJ Gopher still wants them. I should check this section more often.

Thanks!
However, those two image files are completely transparent.
Imgur sometimes does this with large uploads.
Could you try a different file host, or maybe just attach them?

Oh, never mind!
Seems it was a problem with transferring over VMware.
I don't think I'll be using these as the movement seems too fast for what I'm looking for, but thank you!

Can't you just change the Init Animspeed to change the movement speed?

I need a fairly static fog that slowly rises or falls somewhat irregularly. This one isn't bad by any means, it just moves leftwards as if there is a decent wind. I did try toying with the speeds and even frame order, but it just doesn't work for what I'm going for.
