I always pronounce it "Knite" (sounding the k), but i have heard people saying knitte or even just nitte. What do YOU think?
-
Hard k, y pronounced as an the 'i' in hit. I can't seem to find where that was said, though.
-
DeceasedCrab has it right, if you ask me: "nit".
-
You pronounce it like Nifflas does in this video.
http://vimeo.com/9440930 (http://vimeo.com/9440930)
So basically, hard K, and the Y is pronounced like the Y in Bob Dylan.
-
Yeah, you pronounse Knytt in swedish, which is a hard K and an i as in hit.
-
I always thought it was a silent K, as in "Knight" or "Knife"
so I say: "nitt"
-
I also thought it's a silent K. And I also say "nitt".
=|=
-
So it seems I was the only person to say knite (pronouncing the K) :^^:. Too late to change now... knite stories sounds too cool 8)
-
DC said it with silent K in his Lets play vids of levels. But it is as Razzorman said, with hard k. It's swedish word, not even orginial from the game knytt.
-
'i' in hit.
and an i as in hit.
Where did this misinformation come from? :P
-
I say it as Nitt. Not "Knite", "Night", "Nut", or Potatoe. If you actualy say potatoe you got problems. Im not kidding :moody:
EDIT: Try looking at Knytt Stories levels on Youtube. Most people say "Nitt"

EDIT: Try looking at Knytt Stories levels on Youtube. Most people say "Nitt"
and Nifflas, who is the creator, says you read it as Knit... >.>
The people on youtube mostly use English and we all know in English, the words that begin with "k", you don't read that letter... and as someone mentioned before, Nifflas is Swedish, not English.
-
Everyone knows that if most people do something, it must be correct! :)

Everyone knows that if most people do something, it must be correct! :)
so if everyone jumps off a cliff, i must do it too? :shifty:
-
Blah, I say, BLAH.
Anarchy is the way to go man.
and as someone mentioned before, Nifflas is Swedish, not English.
Or rather, Knytt is a swedish word.
-
Which supposedly means "tiny creature."
-
I say 'nit'.
-
I say it the right way: k'nit.
-
I say it the right way: k'nit.
exuse me?
There is a right way to say it and well... not many here say it right. I say it knytt, the way it is spelled. Because it is a Swedish word and that is the correct way of saying it.
Knytt är en liten varelse i Mumindalen. Knytt är i allmänhet blyga, rädda och bortkomna.
Vem ska trösta knyttet? är en klassisk bilderbok från 1960, skriven och illustrerad av Tove Jansson.
As I said before, knytt is not original from Nifflas games. Now I remember these books from when I was small and it is pronunced the way it is spelled. I am sure it's from here the idea of knytts in Nifflas game came from.
-
and it is pronunced the way it is spelled
That is, if you read it in swedish. If you "read it in English", you will not get the correct pronunciation.

oh rly. It is a swedish word so it is pronounced swedish way. It's like saying llama in spanish with l instead of j.

In slovak language we pronounce words as we write them, so I say knit - rhymes with hit or sit

What I'm trying to say, is that a lot of people don't speak Swedish, and therefor don't know how to pronounce knytt in swedish. (simple enough)
Anyone who doesn't speak Swedish won't know what you mean when you say "its pronounced the way its spelled", because they have no idea how Swedish phonetics work.
Also, "knit" is wrong.
-
How stupid of me.
-
In addition to the Nifflas video linked above, there's also a video by Beomene (the artist who worked on Saira-related stuff), which covers the pronunciation of "knytt", "Juni", "Saira", etc.:

-
I spell it like Nifflas, I never thought it could be spelled 'nitt. I didn't pronounce the other words 'right'.
In Russian Saira is a kind of fish, you usually find it canned :)
-
Its-a k'nit. After all, it is the right way to pronounce Knytt. :P2
-
Its-a k'nit. After all, it is the right way to pronounce Knytt. :P2
No it isn't.
-
Yes it is.
Knytt is pronounced /kˈnɪt/, with a hard k and a y pronounced as in the name Dylan.
Wikipedia has never failed anybody.
Don't believe me? See for yourself (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knytt#Knytt)!
-
Oh yeah and don't forget anyone can go in and change that.
gz on fail.
-
"K'nit" is the right way. Pronouncing the K, and an I like in "hit", just like you guys have been saying from the beginning.
-
I pronounce it with hard y [knyt]
-
It's supposed to be said like "k'nit" (like Gorfinhofin said), but I always pronounce it as "knitt." :P
-
nooo you say it like you're knytting a scarf, DUH!
its a english and swedish word! :D
-
I say "nitt", even though Niff says otherwise. :/
-
So, the popular pronunciations are nit, night, k-nit, k-night, and potato.
I say it night, but it's kinda confusing, 'cause I tell people, "Oh, I'm playing Knight Stories," and they'll think I'm some Dungeons and Dragons nerd.
