Title: [Small Maze] The Sky Garden - Looking for Testers
Post by: dave.germain on February 08, 2011, 19:04:49
Recently, I was working on a new way to develop levels. Check out some technical details here.

After a little tinkering, I produced this small level. I think it has a few cool additions to the Knytt gaming style.

I still need some testers (and music recommendations). Send me a message if you want to give it a test.

UPDATE! The game is now available for download:

That screenshot looks stunning! I'd love to give the level a try but I don't think I'd be any use as a tester. You wouldn't believe how useless I am at mazes  :(

It's ok if you're not good at mazes. It might be helpful to have different kinds of testers.

BTW, any idea where I should upload levels for testing? It's about 13 megs so I don't want to email it...

I tend to use box.net (http://www.box.net/) for uploads since WHFF went down.

EDIT: Oh yeah, Yohji's Sendspace (http://www.sendspace.com/) suggestion, Filefront (http://www.filefront.com/upload.php) and Mediafire (http://www.mediafire.com/) aren't bad either. Friendly to downloaders (i.e. no timers).

I also meant to say, if you're interested in feedback from a novice then I'll have a shot at testing for you.

I can test! I like the screenshot a lot!  :)

Also, for the 13 megabyte file, you can use filesharing services like sendspace.com (personal choice), megaupload.com, or others.

I decided to use SendSpace. It seems pretty easy to use.

He may not want to release an early version "into the open". That's what I assumed, at least.

Yes, I've got a few great testers giving me feedback right now so I should be good. Thanks for all the volunteers. After a weekend of cleanups, this level should be ready to go up on Knyttlevels.

I'm gonna be patient and wait for the release :) It looks cool, I'm curious about that new concept you mentioned.

I've downloaded it twice, and it says "possible exploit" when I try to add it. Usually it's due to unallowed characters in the name, like dots etc., but since no one else said something, maybe it's just my computer...

I had this issue too, I just said nothing because I resolved it myself. Download this version (http://www.knyttlevels.com/levels/DaveGermainGames%20-%20The%20Sky%20GardenUpdate.knytt.bin) and you should be fine. :)

Nice, thank you! I tried to modify it myself with Wordpad, but I caused terrible problems in the file X) Somebody who knows how to do it should post a thread somewhere to explain it, that'd be useful!

Arg - this problem just won't go away. I updated the link at the top to reflect the new improved file.
