NightSky / NightSky HD - Android control issues
« on: March 13, 2013, 22:25:52 »
I've had NightSky on Steam for quite a while; big fan of the game. As with the most recent Humble Bundle, I decided to give it a try on my Android tablet (Google Nexus 7) and I've run into a few issues with the controls. I'm very thankful that you added in multiple control schemes, but I think they could be improved further.

'Swipe' mode doesn't really work for me, since broad gestures don't always seem to make the ball go full speed, and yet in levels where you can make the ball turn very very quickly (blue glow), I have a hard time not making it spin full speed with small gestures.

'Tilt' is probably the best control scheme so far (for me), but I have a hard time keeping the ball to stay still! Holding the tablet in my lap, keeping the ball on a platform while clicking on other objects requires nudging the tablet every which way and it's very awkward. I even put the tablet down on my (hopefully level) basement floor, and the ball rolled slowly to the right!

Selecting 'Digital' crashes the game, but enables when I start the game up again. It worked for the most part, but I felt like it kinda defeated the purpose of having a touch device in the first place. Not your fault, just personal preference. I also managed to accidentally restart a level while trying to move around!

What I'm suggesting is that you add the ability to calibrate each control scheme. For example, 'tilt' should have a way to set an absolute "down" direction, a deadband for keeping the ball still, and possibly a way to set how far the player has to tilt to go full speed. I don't mind rotating my tablet a full 80 degrees if it means I get the full range of motion that's comfortable for me.

Knytt Stories Level Releases / [Challenge][Normal] Maintenance
« on: August 09, 2009, 01:39:08 »
Juni finds herself on a strange underwater facility. It appears to be abandoned. You can see your home island, not too far away. However, it is gray, devoid of life. There isn't a single living on it. So, she decides to explore the facility, looking for a way home, or a way to bring back life to her planet.

« on: July 24, 2009, 22:46:41 »
A game I made in about 1/2/3 hours. Based off of R-type almost pi. Can you endure 60 seconds of epilectic BLEACH WARS?!?!? Click to find out!
Anyways, anyone epilectic should not play this game.

Well, this is my first attempt at an environmental level, I hope you enjoy it. It took me a while to make it. :D

Features:
15 different areas to explore, with 134 screens!
10 secrets!
A (horrible) cheating protection system that a jellyfish could outsmart! It only protects one room! Awesome!
NPCs that talk!
Environments!
A cutscene!
No ending!
Humor!
Exclamation points!

NOTE: If you get to the incredibly snazzy land of hand-drawnness, don't hold right when you're falling. The cheating system is very strict... Fixed! :D
NOTE2: While making some things, I had "bezzella" in mind instead of "bellezza." My bad.

Knytt Stories / Wait, what?
« on: July 22, 2009, 20:56:21 »
I was playing some of my old levels. I played "torchlight" by dessgeega. However, at the end, I noticed something very strange:

Read that closely: "Made in Nifflas".
Did Nifflas have a baby???

This is a story of a desolate land that had no name. Not much else to say about that, the rest is explained in the intro. Anyways, this level has entirely custom tilesets. You have to venture the land and find 3 keys, and head up to the floating factory. Features 2 endings. :D

Enjoy!

Yep, I made another one. (Note: the previous one was by Dilbertguy, which was my previous username) This one features almost only custom tilesets. Tileset credits:
DragonMC (the brown part, with the reflective water)
Nifflas (upside down trees, text)
Me (everything else)

Also, complete walkthrough for anyone who gets stuck.

Have fun!

Knytt Experiment / [SPOILER] Interactive database.
« on: March 14, 2009, 17:35:46 »
Most of you probably know me, and yet don't know that you know me. I'm Dilbertguy, back from the dead.

Anyways, I was bored, and picked Knytting again. As a result of getting horribly lost in the Normal World, I decided to make an interactive databse for it! This is harder than it sounds, however. I'm manually entering in the data for each level instead of reading the level files (which would be WAY to hard to do, due to encryptions and such). That's why I posted before I was finished with it. I need your help.

So far, I have:
The Center of the World
A Strange Place
The Castle
Night Castle
Suburb

If anyone has lots of spare time, feel free to give me the exact name (not what you think it should be named :P), and it's x/y position in the world.
